I want your unbias opinion - if you were the Flyers GM

would you stick with Leighton and Bouch in net going into next season?

I think I might depending on how much of a raise from $150k or whatever it was Leighton made this year. Obviously as an unrestricted free agent teams will offer him much more, and he has been saying he sees himself as a clear #1.
But on this caliber of a team?

Leighton is horrible. he cant stop any low shots. he looks awkward and lets them slip thru his pads. he let in 2 horrid goals in game 6. if they had an average NHL goalie they would have beaten the blackhawks. but instead they got well below average goaltending. his stats r good cause he faces long shots with a great D in front of him so he will get a full year as a near-starter next season. but he will be exposed and it will be his last in the NHL. flyers still have a window to go deep again but need to grab someone like a t.thomas who can give them more

I would actually sign Emery to another 1 year contract and see how his hip holds up. Emery is better than both goalies and could be signed on the cheap as well. I'd also sign Boucher as a backup and send Leighton packing. He's not a big game goalie and will never steal you a game.

If they don't want Emery then they should sign an experienced goalie like Turco.

They shoudl also trade for one of th ebest movers like Kaberle, but it will cost either a player, top prospect (do they even have any) and or picks. If I were the GM, I'd send Carter and a pick to Toronto for Kaberle.

Bouch is already signed for next year. Look for Carter to get moved they have too many centers (Richards, Briere, Carter. Giroux, Betts). Got to get a top flight goalie. Leighton sux.

I thought Antero Nittymaki was gonna be the next great one. They flyers always have brought talent to the team but we havent had a complete goalie since hexy the first go round and of course Pelle. I would not commit big money to leighton since it would take away from signing big name puck handlers.

No way Steve, I would definitely try to land a solid goaltender, someone who could be there for a few years. Then I would do my best to trade Hartnell and let Carcillo walk, then re sign Powe and Asham for small contracts.

I have heard rumblings of this too. I would be OK with is. The Flyers still played great without Carter. Playing without Gagne made much more of a difference imo. I've always been a big fan off Carter's but I think it's time.

Gagne for Thomas. Thomas is an upgrade to what Philly have, and is still better than just about every UFA goalie this summer with the exception of Nabakov. The only downside for the Flyers is Thomas' bad lengthy contract and the fact that it may be a gamble considering Thomas had hip surgery recently. Rask is the guy in Boston and Boston definitely would be looking to deal Thomas if possible. and Gagne would be a nice fit for Savards line.

Letting Carcillo walk could be on eof the best things the Flyers could do. This guys is a major Douchebag. But man if he could tone it down he'd be a heck of a 3rd line player.

Thomas has a NTC and his contract value/length make him untradeable. Gagne is worth more than Thomas who is overrated.

Vokoun was arguably MVP for the Panthers last year (i know, it doesn't mean that much) but Tallon wants a #1 Center so Carter makes sense. T-Vo's like $5 mil a year, what's Carter? I'd take Hartnell down here too.
