Once again, it appears the HABS and linesmakers are combining to provide some great value with this absolute live dog, much like was the case in the HABS-CAPS series.
Thoughts?

Think about this..........
We are looking at a short FIVE game series now...........with the HABS having home ice advantage as a +310 dog.

Looks like home ice doesn't mean much this year, Montreal has done most of their damage on the road. Sidney and Fleury are from Quebec and will be returning home to play. Halak is going to have to get 40 saves a game if Montreal will win the series.
The Penguins will win it in 6.

The Habs are relying 100% on their goalie and are being totally dominated by Pittsburgh.
Betting on Montreal would take some balls as they will need alot of luck to beat the Penguins, the two teams don't compare in terms of talent and ability, Montreal has good goaltending at the moment but being outshot and outplayed every game will catch up to them.
Montreal has had some luck in that they scored on the few chances they had vs Pitt.
I doubt the Habs win another game in this series (without getting lucky), they are nowhere near as good as Pitt.

We heard the samething about the Caps............
+310????
Who in their right mind would/could possibly lay over -300 on the Penguins to win this series????

The Caps are not the Penguins, and have figured out that getting in front of Halak and playing like a team makes it easier to score, Washington never figured this out.
There is no doubt the Pens are far superior to Montreal, not even close.
Go ahead and bet Montreal at +310 if it makes you feel better but it has little chance of cashing, really.
As they playoff rounds continue the better teams tend to win, first round is the best round for upsets.
Fishhead I hope you don't blow your dumpster diving profits on the Habs, that would be a waste of your hard work.

Plom, I probably make more on a weekly basis than you do in a year or more ...........food for thought my friend.
......and by the way, I started this thread to hear thoughts such as yours, never did I mention anything about making a wager on the Habs.
I've did this professionally for quite sometime.

Fishead, I never knew dumpster diving was so profitable, so yes, you probably make alot more than me (although you could never prove this and I my guess is you only say this because you are insecure) you should be very proud.
I speak English, and I read your post, you mention Habs +310, do we have to translate your posts into something we can understand?
Why don't you mean what you say?

Might be good for hedging but the best bet of the series will be Pitt to win game 3 in Montreal.
The price will likely be the best you will get on the Penguins, they will be heavy favs the rest of the series.

not really interested in hedging, I'm sure I could scalp it at matchy now... buts for less than 25 bucks and just an emotional hedge.... as I'm a pens fan..
I very rarely bet on hockey, except for a few pure entertainment bets...I don't know anything about it

Archer I agree, for $25 you shouldn't hedge. If you are a Penguins fan all you have to do is watch them play and it will be obvious they are far superior to Montreal, they are relying completely on the goaltending of Halak to win games, which is a poor strategy but the only chance they have. I seriously doubt they win another game, luck can only get you so far.

it only has value if you think Montreal can win 3 out of 5 games against the defending champs, and to win 3 in a row. if you are saying they have home ice, it only is true if they win both games in Montreal. a split gives it back to Pit. so by your logic, the Habs will have to win 3 straight games including Game 2. how likely do you feel that is?
i don't know how much luck Montreal has left, but they used a fukk-ton of it in Game 2. they got outplayed very badly, and the Pens didn't play up to their potential. i don't know how many teams can get outshot 30-9 over the course of 2 periods and still win. they converted 3 of 4 bad bounces into goals.

i got them at +700 after they lost game 1..........the only reason i did it is cause i have a future with the Pens to win the east. that +700 is worthless to me as I think the Pens move on in this one easily. +310 is not a deal at all. the canadiens suck without markov, and its not offset by the stall injury

Better to wait and see if the Canadiens drop the next game to fall behind in the series, that way the line might go up to +700 again. It might be worth a sprinkle at that price.

Pens -156 at Pinny right now for game 3. Get it early.

You mean being totally outclassed, outshot and outhustled? Halak stole a game for them, it happens.
Yeah Montreal really wants it, but they simply are tremendously overmatched vs the Pens, whatever happened vs Washington has no bearing on this series, they are far inferior to Pitt and while they were able to fluke a win it will be almost impossible to beat Pitt 4 times.
Save your money.

I could respect your opinion... was not saying Montreal is a lock. Personally I agree with you, But I mostly concentrate more on totals! not going to be playing much on sides cause I just can't take a stand on either side.
