#182Man, sorry to see this happen to such a classy poster. I felt the same way when ICE lost his Rhode Island bet.
Tough one, TB. You'll bounce back, though.
FWIW, I made one hockey bet in my life and it was a relatively big one -- under 5.5 on a game that was 2-1 heading into the final minute. Empty net goal made it 3-1 with 48 seconds left. Two goals tied it up from there. Most bizarre thing I've ever seen, and I swore off the NHL for good that day.
Was that the Ben Burns 10* Totals Game of the Year between Minn and Van ??

#183Ok folks...While I still have a hefty amount left it is a bit sickening. Do I regret it? I'd be lying if I say no. I love the thrill of taking these risks every now and then. Originally I planned on doing it in the NBA playoffs with a home 3 seed or 4 (in the western conference). I'm regretting not waiting for the weekend but trying to pull the trigger now. I'm heading off to bed in a few but will be back in full force tomorrow!Comment -

#184Oh TB, I'm so sorry about this one. Out of all the times for the bloody Canadiens of all teams to beat a fave in a playoff game.
But you're right - you'll get this back in the next couple of days if not tomorrow. Just promise me no more big bets on hockey, ok? Even if you had won it, I would be saying to take your money and run, without ever looking back at this sport.

#191Originally posted by CappinpicksAlso why does TB feel the need to post in bold the ridiculous amounts of money he bets? Nobody will bet the same amounts, just a way of attention whoring I guess.
yeah, nothing worse than attention whoring eh?
this coming from the idiot that posts in every thread of TB's shit talking while most likely tails her every pickComment -

#205Very very very sick to me and I couldn't fathom that amount, but then again it's all relative. On the bright side, TB has a talent and really can recover. When going on tilt (for me anyways), stepping back is imperative in my opinion. The factor above all else that distinguishes a winner from a guaranteed loser seems to be self control and money management.
Sorry for the rant, but those kind of losses really make ya think. I can't justify layin those odds ever when it's apparent anything can happen.Comment -

#206Im sorry for your loss and i know you have done well overall so its not something that will effect you.
My only question for everyone here is why no one questioned a -300 ml favorite in the NHL on home ice in rd 1 of the NHL playoffs where rd teams always give it there best to get that first game.
Im no hater of anyone here but playing a -300ml in any sport and expecting victory isnt the best way to go.Comment -

#207I woke up after this had all started but from what I've read, there were quite a few others on SBR who took Washington including some respectable cappers.
But there's no way I'd be telling TB how to spend her money anyway. I gave my input as to what I thought about betting on hockey (HATE IT) but it's not really my place to tell someone why their pick is wrong or right when that much money is involved, especially when the game has started. Plus she got the pick from a friend... who would you listen to more? Someone you know, who obviously has sports knowledge or TB wouldn't have listened in the first place, or random strangers on a forum you've been on for a month?
It's easy to have this conversation now that she lost the bet, but how many people would've been questioning her if it had it?Comment -

#208Somehow I deleted this right when I was posting: There are scores of people who would look at us as idiots, and definitely do based on the PMs I received begging me not to make those plays, for betting anything more than 3x on an NBA over/under. ESPECIALLY this week. And especially when there's a hook involved. TB took a ML fave.
Would we have listened? Should we have? (Well obviously this week we should've)

Im not sure who you are directing this too Shari. My question is simple. Why would one lay -300ml on a NHL play in the first game of the first series where rd teams always give it there best? One can say what they want but the Caps had no value at -300. The Habs had incredible value at +240 or more considering they beat the Caps 2 of 4 in the reg season including 1 of 2 in washington, so they were made 2.5/1 dogs when they had proven they could win in washington already and have the better goalie. Im not putting down TB at all but no one wants to question a -300ml pick and I will argue all night with folks about that. Im not talking at the end either cause i took MTL ml before the game.Comment -
