You ever hear of a thing all good gamblers know about? It's called variance. In the NHL and the MLB, this betting shit is more of a grind. If you are a 55% winner after 300 bets, you are doing well..

Thanks Dennis, much respect. I always look forward to seeing which side you are on. I have a bit of a head start from playing semi pro poker. It helps me understand all the bs between the lines.

GL in your bets tonight sir, I am on the flames with you of course. I wanted the under badly but the price was to high.

Actually, as far as all the sports go that I personally wager on, I find hockey to be the most rewarding.......now you want frustration, wait till baseball starts. Just my two cents.

I've had some pretty decent success at hockey but there are a lot of really good handicappers I've read on these forums that think hockey is the hardest thing in the world to bet. The only rule I follow is trying not to lay more then -125 on any bet, side or total. I'm sure there are instances where that is a good idea but there is nothing worse then laying -130 or more on the under and having 4 goals scored in the first period.

There are some really good nhl handicappers on this forum you can follow (though like anything else don't do it blindly). I've been reading Diogee's picks for a while now and he is up over 50 units on the year just betting totals one unit at a time for example.

The best team doesn't win every night. Play at least 20 picks a week and try to grind out a 55% profit over the season.

sheesh. talk about lack of knowledge.
Canes are 3-3 against the Caps this season, with two OT losses, and have yet to lose to the caps by more than one goal all season.

Hockey is the easiest to cap. Reason is that vegas has basketball and football down to a science literally. Being Canadian and playing hockey my entire life, there are certain elements to the game that vegas doesnt understand. It's hard to describe these elements but their there trust me. Also, since hockey doesnt get as much coverage in the U.S., vegas doesnt get the inside info that they would like. Furthermore, the unpredictability of chance involved with the game of hockey actually plays in the favor of the good hockey handicapper. Hockey is a game of momentum, and its very easy for team to take the night off. Predicited the momemtum, and which team wants it more is key in predicting the outcome.
