Do not be to sure of that! Keep in mind we have no idea of how china plays or of what their women are like I would wait and watch before I made a bold comment like that!

Canada line was -9.5 and the total was like 10 or 10.5, well we all know how that one turned out, an 18-0 blowout. Not saying its going to be a similar outcome here, 1. the States are not as good as Canada, 2. China may be a little better than the Slovaks, and 3. It was a home game for Canada. Just throwing that out there because I see the comments about being such a large line for a hockey, some of these clubs are in a different league compared to others.

i did some research and saw china placed ninth in the 2009 world championship tourny... they suck so bad they were degraded to a lower division. also if you say usa is a better team than canada, canada beat china 13-1. so usa has the capability of beating the spread by 8.5 goals. im betting on it....

damn the line is moving way up...hell im going wit usa -9 goals and the 10.5 over before it moves more...
It should be a romp: the U.S. has never lost to China in eight matches at the Olympics and world championships and has outscored China, 73-7, in those games. China, which has fewer than 200 players to choose from, didn't qualify for the Turin Olympics and is ranked ninth in the world.
But the U.S. players and coaches have learned never to say never, and they're deflecting all talk about anything beyond the task immediately at hand.
"On the 14th we play China and I think that's our focus right now," team captain Natalie Darwitz said earlier this week. "A couple more good practices coming up and then dropping the puck on the 14th."
United States v. China
China trained in Toronto, and was adopted by the city's Chinese-Canadian community. The same should happen in Vancouver, home to almost 400,000 Chinese-Canadians. The United States, playing just miles from its border, starts what should be an easy journey to the semifinal round.
3 p.m ET Rogers Sportsnet
The records: The U.S. is the two-time defending world champion. China is seeking a place among the world's second-tier. In geopolitics, they are rivals. In this sport, they are worlds apart.
What's at stake: The vibe in Vancouver. If the Chinese can ring in their new year with a gigantic upset, than be prepared for a gigantic party in the one of the world's best Chinatowns.
Who to watch: U.S. defenceman Angela Ruggiero is the Chris Pronger of women's hockey. The four-time Olympian controls the ice with skill, defensive play, and attitude.

The current team is young (the average age is 22 ½), tiny and inexperienced. Only three players have Olympic experience. All of them come from Qiqihar or Harbin in the northeastern province of Heilongjiang. But the Chinese women skate well and play sound positional hockey.
They typically poor-mouth their chances in athletic events, and Chinese hockey officials have said they would be happy with a sixth- or seventh-place finish. The Hockey News, however, predicted they could do as well as fourth. The Chinese women would like to keep their games with the United States and Finland from becoming too lopsided, then get past Slovakia in the seeding round, which determines medal eligibility.
A key to their improvement has been a new coach, Hanna Saintula, who coached the Finnish national team for seven years.
“He makes his players better,” Mark Johnson, the coach of the American women, said Thursday, noting that their skill level had greatly improved. “They’ve been training together for the last 11 months, working out two or three times a day.”
Wang said: “We’ll fight for a good performance. We’ll make ice hockey hot in China.”

SWEDEN 0 - UNITED STATES 7 | PRELIMINARY | TUES. SEPT. 1 Kelli Stack, Natalie Darwitz and Caitlin Cahow each had a goal and two assists to lead the United States to a 7-0 victory over Sweden on Tuesday afternoon at the 2009 Hockey Canada Cup in Vancouver, B.C. CANADA 7 - SWEDEN 0 | PRELIMINARY | MON. AUG. 31 Rebecca Johnston and Hayley Wickenheiser scored two goals apiece and Shannon Szabados needed to make just six saves for the shutout as Canada blanked the Swedes in its tournament opener.
-9 seems pretty hefty... but USA will want to show that it is as explosive as China.
I am going with the over!

USA is as good as Canada, and should walk all over China. I am expecting USA to cover the spread, and cover the over on their own.
