Not really. Look back a couple of years, see how many teams have lost 5 or more games to start the season. I think TB did it last year at 7. And maybe ATL at 6. It simply doesn't happen, the betting public knows it.

One thing a person that lives in Toronto knows very well is that when you think the Leafs will lose for sure they win and vice versa.

But by that same token, betting on the leafs because "teams don't lose 5+ to start the season"? Trends are secondary to recent performance.
