Do you take your losses seriously.?
Some of us like to post plays, feel good about winning and come back the next day with another pick. After a few winners, Do we fool ourselves into thinking we are exceptionally good at it..

What happens when we lose. ? . Rarely do I see someone come in, post a loser, then come back the next day.. Some guys do, very few though. They love to talk about the “bad beat”.

Rarely does anyone say, “ man, last night, I was just wrong in my play”.. . I give them credit because these are the guys who are probably betting money and not just making mind bets... ..

You don’t take the loss seriously, right.?... People who bet are supposed to lose, at least a fair percentage of the time. . One should not bet more than they can afford of course. So if you do lose a posted play, this is the normal occurrence of things.. We prefer to win, but we cannot most of the time..

I see some guys insult other guys when they pick losers. Guys who do this are just insecure and kinda miserable. It should all be in fun.

I’m not saying you should be happy about losing money.

I like to post plays because it gives me a sense of hockey community. Which in my opinion seems hard to find.

My question is, “ why does anyone bother to post picks in the first place.”?. If you lose, so what. Nobody wins “all the time” anyway.. When someone posts a loser, why do they disappear. For fear of posting more losers and being ridiculed..?. Are they embarrassed.?. They shouldn’t be... There are hundreds, maybe thousands of “so called experts” charging people money for their picks..
Guess what.?. In most cases, the only money they are making is in the fees they are being paid..Screwing desperate people out of their money..To perform a bullshit service...

Here’s to gambling, .. A great form of entertainment and satisfaction.. Capable of turning the crappiest game, into a markedly best game..

You have to stay positive under all circumstances..

I agree with the sentiment, but in the 3 years since I've been posting here, rarely get replies in my threads. I still do it because I feel it gives me some accountability by posting on a public forum.... another thing it does is allows people to follow when I get hot, or fade while I'm running cold, so in that sense it provides an information source for people reading the site.

I agree with you. There are a lot of people on forums that don't put in any work when capping games and they end up randomly tailing people and when they take a loss, they blame the poster or result to insults. It's important to have your own approach to capping games so that when you see a pick posted, you can make a decision on whether it aligns with the information you have already analyzed. I try to look for trends, which in theory should be easier this year since the same teams play each other 8 or 9 times. Some teams just match up better or there is a mental part of the game where the team just doesn't perform well against another team (See Montreal / Vancouver this year). You have to remember, the guys playing the game are just like you and I. Sometimes we wake up and we are off our "game" in our own professional lives and sometimes we are on our "game" and everything seems to go right. So many variables to consider. No game can be predicted with 100% accuracy.

      Rules that I follow -
      1. Only bet what you can afford
      2. Stay positive (there are ups and downs). Even the best of cappers go on losing streaks where it seems like no matter what you pick, you can't pick a winner. When on a losing streak, the tendency is to lean on favorites to get a win and the juice will end up killing you when favorites lose. Sometimes it makes sense to take a break.
      3. If you are on a heater, don't let forum posts change your mind.
      4. Be cautious of posters always picking the big dogs. Sometimes posters are looking for attention so they can say "I'm the only one that called it". More often than not, the big dog is a big dog for a reason.
      5. Always be appreciative of the posters because it is an extra source of information (maybe you didn't see that specific angle on the game and it saves you a loss). People come here to look for an advantage...negative or insulting comments only lead to less posts.

I'm always appreciative of the posters...but I always have an opinion on games prior to coming on the forum.

With that being said, I'll be on the Arizona TT Over 2.5 tonight -110 (2 units). It's hit 5 times in a row. (doesn't mean it will hit tonight, but I'm on it again).

Well said and nicely written hotcross, mainblackbeers...

I was in one forum years ago where information was always being thrown around. Info like; The plane of a certain team was delayed at customs and the team did not get in until 6 a.m.. Or players were seen in the casino playing black jack, or at one of the clubs.. It was rare, but it was like a community, sorta'...

It has pretty much disbanded. Once people started blaming others and making fun at them..

I don't blame people for being leary or skeptical in forums. But they are a good place to 'discuss' hockey. Tell your story. Love the game's outcomes, win or lose....

I'm looking for both dogs tonight Arizona and New York.. Boston looked bad at times, but are so talented in so many areas.. Arizona for sure tonight. Rags a game time decision.

Bummed out last night on two in-game bets.. Bet over 1.5 goals second period Knights game, paid the 150 juice. Not even close. Then when Anaheim went up 1-0 in the third, I bet Anaheim +202, with 8 minutes left, to win by 2 goals.. It was a disaster. They hardly could get the puck out of their own zone... There.. ahhh.. Feel better now..

I have a season long thread that I post every play I take on that day. It will be a season long thread and hoping to finish with a respectable winning percentage. Appreciate all the work people put in on this forum. Let’s have a great Hockey season 🍻

For those of you that like in game betting - www.nhl.com has a Stats option up top. I find it helpful for 3rd period O/U plays. You want to go to Stats --> then choose "By Team" and then select the Report named "Goals by Period". Choose Get Stats and then you can filter the 1st, 2nd and 3rd period goals to get an idea of which teams start fast or slow and which teams score most of their goals in the later parts of the game (ie Bruins).

                    This is good information.

I usually go to Covers.com, scores then matchups.. In here they give a comprehensive goals by period, last 10 games and the next 3 to be played.. Goalie stats and the whole works...

I tried writing SBR about adding these stats to their match-up page, but I keep getting some messages about too many characters.. I tried it on my IPad. Have yet to try on my computer though...
