Feb 3 - The Daily Breakdown
    YTD 15-13 +5.45u
    NHL 9-6 (+7.45u)
    NBA 6-6 (+0.60u)
    NFL 0-1 (-2.20u)

Man oh man, tough night last night. Lightning never showed up, which I was afraid of when the line kept shifting in their favour throughout the day... And Wizards had a 15 point lead for most of the game and ended up winning by 8... -.- Sometimes that's the way she goes. Bounce back day, today!

Anaheim Ducks vs. Florida Panthers // Feb 3

    Friday night fun

The Anaheim Ducks (28-15-9) fly across the country and visit the Florida Panthers (22-19-10) at the BB&T Centre. The Ducks are hanging onto second place in the Pacific Division in the West while the Panthers are four points out of a Wild Card spot in the East.

    Quack attack

The Ducks are playing quality hockey as they hunt down the San Jose Sharks for the top spot in the Pacific. The Ducks are just two points behind the Sharks and have been closing ground recently. They are 9-3-1 in their last 13 and are coming off a 5-1 win against the Colorado Avalanche.

The Ducks need to carry their forward momentum on the road now as they have a daunting six-game trip that starts in Florida. The Ducks don’t put up a lot of points—averaging 20th in the league in goals for—but they do know how to defend. They are 6th in the league in goals against and average only 2.5 against per game.

The Ducks are 11-9-6 on the road this season and will ride Gibson into tonight’s game. He is 20-11-8 this season and holds an impressive 2.28 goals against average. In their last 8 meetings in the Sunshine state, they hold a 5-3 record.

    On the prowl

The Panthers were dealt a shitty hand from the hockey gods in 2017. They had a disastrous start to the season that revolved around the injury bug. Huberdeau, Barkov and Bjugstad all went down with long-term injuries. And despite that, they’ve rallied behind a new interim head coach and fought their way back into playoff contention.

At home this season, the Panthers are 13-9-3. Although they opened up as underdogs, the return of the aforementioned Huberdeau and Barkov should give them a little boost, which is why the line shifted in their favour. Since then, however, the line has now shifted back to even..

    The Final Breakdown

The Ducks have the momentum going into tonight’s match. They may be fatigued by the time this gruelling road trip ends, but they should be fired up tonight and have the proven success to take care of weaker teams.

Home Ice can be a big factor depending on the team that's playing at home and depending on the visitor as well. The BB&T arena is definitely not one of the hard places to play in in the NHL... the seats are rarely over half full.. The place is quiet and a team like the Ducks wouldn't be fazed by a loud home crowd even if it was a loud arena. Teams like St Louis, Washington, Pittsburgh, San Jose.... those teams have big home advantages simply based on the fact that they play that much better when theyre in their own building...

Like I said, Home ice can be a huge advantage if a team knows how to USE it to their advantage... Florida is not one of those teams.

Man... that loss was brutal... so many missed chances.. got outshot by a ton, but definitely looked like the better team. Huberdeau and Barkov were the difference.

Right bet, wrong result. It happens. Easier to swallow when it's not super chalky.
