Alex Ovechkin = Best Player In Universe
Theres something to be said about the will to win. Alot of average players in the league become household names this time of year. One player who not only comes to play every game but plays better then anyone else is Ovechkin. He claims to read the blogs in the Washington post and responded to the most recent one. He stated its not over yet and keep your eye on him. Well beyond a doubt he infact lead his team to a win. Tough , skilled and dangerous from 20 feet away with a lightening shot . Not many of todays players can match the physical style of 80's hockey and still light the lamp. Alex could have played in any era and done the same thing he does today. THey anoited Sid "the kid" as the next Gretsky but true fans know it's Alex whos today best player. Before that guys done he will have a ring or two. I just hope it's not this year.

He's a beast. I love the fact that he's more than just a glamour guy who scores points. He's one of the hardest hitters on the ice when the Caps are in town. O.V. ain't afraid to bang with anybody.Comment -

OK, we dismantled the NHL and started over from scratch. You are the GM and won the 1st pick. You get to choose from any player in the NHL or juniors or wherever.

Although there are a handfull of players you could make a case for the first pick I don't think there is too much of an argument for not taking Ovechkin first. I mean the guy could practically play 1 on 5 and score a goal every now and then.Comment -

Nobody loves to score more than Ovechkin, nobody is more excited when their teammate scores a goal in October. Ovechkin's passion alone makes him the best player in the NHL. Add that to his insane skill level and you have by far the best player the NHL has seen in a long time.Comment -

Not a particularly bold statement. He's very good. Most everyone would agree he's one of the top candidates.
I'm awfully glad to have Crosby coming to Team Canada for the upcoming Olympics. There's no one I would rather have.

I'd rather hae Datsyuk over Ovie any day. Not even a homer statement, Datsyuk is so well rounded it is unreal. Guy has the most steals in the league and puts up huge offensive numbers to boot. Datsyuk, Zetterberg, are the reason the Wings are so great. Not only their offensive super stars but they also back check like animals. No other team really has that and that is a lot of the Wings success.Comment -

Hossa and Datsyuk? Sure those guys are solid players, but they are nothing compared to Ovechkin. They dont have the explosiveness that Ovechkin has.

As an individual player Ovechkin really stands out. You can tell it's him cause his movements look faster and quicker.

Ovechkin is a shooter and takes unnecessary runs at players.
Crosby is a set up man, a grinder, a scorer,hits and fights when he has to.
Crosby makes his teammates better players. Ovechkin doesn't. I'm not saying Ovechkin isn't a good player. He's a fantastic scorer and has a nice shot. He hits, but he takes runs at players. He is due to get his bell rung and when it happens he will be severely concussed.Comment -
