Let's say you are the Bruins... would you lose a game on purpose to extend the series? because more games equals more money.

Not saying the NHL is rigged... but it's a thought.

Lose a game, because more games in a series means more money. Makes more sense for the stanley cup series, but when you're up 3-0 it's still tempting.

Not nearly enough money is bet on hockey for it too be worth it for the players. The refs would be the ones who could possibly be corrupt if anyone is seeing as they don't make millions.

No way in the hell the players would though. The only player who could really throw it would be the goalie anyways.

Series that go beyond 2 home games has gate revenue go to the league I believe.

AFAIK, players get paid peanuts in playoffs. This time of the year is all about the pride and the cup. This also explains why a lot of european players do not really want to play for free in playoffs.

This is a mythological angle you'll see thrown around a lot here at SBR, especially in the NBA Forum. A bang bang play goes the other way of what the instant replay shows and all the degenerates yell "fixed". It just doesn't happen at this level, especially in the Playoffs where millions of eyeballs are scrutinizing every move everyone makes.

If there was even a sniff of a team throwing a game or that the 'League' is corrupt and fixing games, the league would be considered a criminal organization. Do you really think Big time Sponsors like family orientated Coca-Cola would put their Stamp of approval on a League or team that engages and Promotes Crime? Would these owners, players, Referees and Officials, who make Millions of dollars a year keeping things legitimate risk going to Jail and losing it all for a few bucks? No, they will not. Again, not at this level. Maybe in Amateur leagues, but not in the pros.

If you want any hope of making money betting sports, you need to look at real, legitimate angles. Not speculation and conspiracy theories.
