In other news today, I'm still 1st place in the NHL P.O.D Contest, a record of 25-7 (78.13%)+11.35, with an 8 game winning streak. Everyone has been taking Pucklines lately, trying to make up ground and overtake. Some of you guys are getting real close. Do you have a limit of the number of plays you'll make in a day regardless of how many games there are? Sorry for all the questions, somewhat new to hockey handicapping, just trying to get some perspective. I've found for me that works the best but I know it's different for everyone.Comment -

Just a practical approach for me. No real definitive limit, unless it's going badly. Don't mind betting the card at all. It's performance based, if you're hitting over 56% you should do okay. Biggest obstacle would be variance; hot days/cold days. If you're losing, it's time to cut back and do some homework, really try hard to find those winners, rather than going with your raw instincts.
Having a specific goal helps me cut back on unnecessary action, for example, my weekly unit target is always 3 units. That's it. Once I achieve that, then I try to cut back knowing my target is already in the bank. Hey, three units a week for a whole year is pretty damn impressive. I'm up near 40u in the NHL, I could take the rest of the season off knowing I've already got it covered.
All in all, nothing revolutionary here, just a practical approach.Comment -

Was looking at a 9 unit lottery today, didn't go that way. I was happy with the selections, and won the most important game of the night, which was the Detroit Redwings. As a golden rule, if there is a max bet, lay off other action! Looking ahead to tomorrow, I got my eye on one specific game in particular, will have to look into a couple of things before it becomes official.

Had a 7-2 night S/U, 1-1 on parlays for a +10 unit night... Didn't tell you this (though if you had looked at the '2013 NHL Picks' thread you could have seen it) but I put 9u (1u=$10) on the Redwings last night, which was 3/4 of my bankroll (take into consideration I started out on monday with a bankroll at $100 and was at $150 yesterday, so not really a lot on the line) and was very happy with last night's outcome. Hit some other good bets as well and bankroll went from $150 to $250 last night, in large part to your pick. Really appreciate it.
Normally I would never put that large a % of my bankroll on a bet, terrible $ mgmt, but I play by different rules when my starting bankroll is $100. Would never do that with a $1,000 bankroll but when you start out at $100, sometimes you gotta take bigger risks to get going.

And yeah I like the Ducks to win this game straight up, I think they get it done in regulation. Ducks average about 3.2 goals when playing the Flames the last few years. Who knows how good Kiprusoff will be coming off an injury. Flames don't match up well down the middle.Comment -

Had the game set at four, and the game ended 4-0 for Anaheim Ducks! Haven't looked at Totals for tomorrow yet, so I've got some research to do. May continue to fade Calgary, they're in LA tomorrow, so another LA game for me? Might as well. Continue to ride the hot wave till they lose a couple in a row, they're ranked #2 on my power rankings.
My novelty bet on the Oilers lost as expected. The other nominee was Colorado, and waddya know, the Avalanche break the Blackhawks streak. The Oilers organization needs to show some growth, as it seems like a never ending rebuild, another top 5 draft pick is in the cards. Never gained anything this week, lost 0.35, which is a damn shame, failing to take full advantage of two Max plays that won earlier this week. Have to admit that I beat myself, feeling too content, I got a bit lackadaisical, and that's putting it nicely. Standard ML plays(1*) are down this year, everything else is fine; Totals are ok, 2* and 5* are as expected.
