#2I like the concept of the rule, but I think it is total BS that I have to open a NEW account with a different book. If I make a deposit at a sponsoring book, that should be more than sufficient. Instead, I can't use BetJamaica (where I have not made a deposit this year)? Ridiculous.Comment -

#9I can't believe that we have to sign up for a new book!? WTF? The last 2 years have been so perfect and not really any problems or anything... This seems totally bogus that we have to open a new account... I don't think I'm gonna be playing this year either... I always look forward to this contest and I'm very disappointed in this decision!

#10sweet, I get to use some of my favorite phrases:
"keeps out the riff raff"
"more room for me to boogie!"
"I piss a hundred dollars."
Shall I continue?
Just messing with ya fellas.
The whole purpose of the contest and why the prize money is OH SO SWEET this year is because SBR promises to bring NEW business to the sponsors. All these books are top-tier, why the hate? Are you guys really so lazy that you can't deposit a hundred frickin bucks at one of the other sportsbooks on the list?
Sure, I've got a CRIS account I haven't used in a year or so that I could just reload, but I'm actually looking forward to the opportunity to try Jamaica now. That's the whole goal of the contest from a marketing/strategic perspective on SBR and the sponsoring books' part, right?
I'm surprised that some of you guys have hundreds of posts here and spend countless hours a week on here, and are whining about helping SBR out by making a $100 deposit at an A-rated book. Get over it.
I love the new rules, as you can tell. Can't wait til week one of the contest!Comment -

I'm starting to like the sentiment and theme of this thread. If all you guys continue to whine and don't sign up, it'll be a lot easier for me to bring home the bacon this year week after week!Comment -

#13That's only part of it. You also won't have to compete with the most experienced players who already have accounts at all the top books. Apparently we are ineligible.
That's more money left on the table for you.Comment -

The only rub would be if you are not really playing at all those books but just using them to scalp. I'm not suggesting that you personally are doing that, but the rules seem to ambiguously say that scalpers are not allowed in BTP.Comment -

#15I really enjoyed this contest last year, but i won`t be playing this year, what`s happened,if i win a prize one week like i did last year then i want to spend it where and when i choose, not be forced to roll it over x3 or x5 to be able to withdraw.
Come on guys lets get it back to like it was.Comment -

#16The problem is that SBR just does not understand that most US players ALREADY have accounts with SBR A rated books and have funded them in the past or opened them to test them out (5dimes....) Some books on the required NEW account list are not A+ rated (CRIS) or do not have options for funding that are either acceptable or allowable to US bettors.
I would not mind funding an additional $100 or more into my existing bookmaker account to enter this contest; however, the other A+ books listed (eg. Legendz) have limited funding options for US bettors.
Instead of limiting the playing field for the BTP and shutting out participants, SBR should be finding ways to open the BTP field.
Once again, SBR should provide exceptions to those players who opened Bookmaker accounts for the SBR on-line poker contest last month and are willing to fund an additional $100 into those accounts.
However after all that, the 5x rollover winning requirements are purely bogus compared to receiving a SBR check from last year.Comment -

#17Hmm, that's quite the conundrum. I certainly think that if you can prove membership at every sponsoring sportsbook on the list, then you should be able to play at your book of choice for an additional $100 buy-in (which, if you're funded at every of one on the list, is probably an immaterial amount of money i'm guessing).
The only rub would be if you are not really playing at all those books but just using them to scalp. I'm not suggesting that you personally are doing that, but the rules seem to ambiguously say that scalpers are not allowed in BTP.
I would have no problem proving my accounts and certainly the $100 is not an issue.
The point about scalping is a head-scratcher. I definitely scalp. I would be insulted if anyone suggested I don't know how to scalp. I scalp, straight bet, arb. I'm an all-around player who tries to make money.
I don't know how they propose to define/prove/enforce something like that. Anyway in my case, I openly admit it.
I haven't studied the rules; I just noticed the discussions about the must-make-a-new-sign-up rule. So I'm ineligible there and now I'm learning that maybe I'm ineligible for other reasons too.
I'm radioactive.Comment -

#18I mostly like the changes. A lot more prize money in exchange for giving a little business to the sponsoring books. Plus you even get an extra bonus for depositing. Sounds good.
However, I’m surprised SBR has not stepped up and addressed the matter of people who already have accounts at all the contest books. We’re not talking here about people who are refusing to jump through the required hoops, but about people for whom jumping through the required hoops would be impossible.
No doubt the books would prefer to give the prize money to the weakest players, but this is a pretty crude way to go about it, by locking out from SBR’s flagship contest the experienced players who play or have played at the most top rated books.
I’ve never played at one of the books, and I’m pretty sure a second, so that rule’s not going to nail me, but it almost did. I guess it actually helps me by eliminating some of the competition, but I really think you need to work out some kind of common sense exemption.
I also didn’t notice the reference to scalping mentioned in this thread. But if that’s in the rules, I guess I too should go ahead and confess here that I scalp. Indeed, I try very hard to never place a bet—or, in some cases, combination of bets—wherein I do not have an edge. Sorry.
Now I’m wondering if it wouldn’t be simpler just to administer an IQ test and allow only those below a certain level to enter the contests.
Well heck, maybe I don’t like the changes so much.Comment -

#19I'm only a rec player who might deposit $500 for the entire football season and I'm being limited from playing as well, its not just the sharps being squeezed.
About 2 years ago when I started playing I was encouraged here to open numerous accounts to look each site over fully then deposit in the one I like the best. Well I have account in all the above but have only ever deposited into 5dimes.
So if we can first deposit a current account I be very happy...I'd go with BetJam...Comment -

Yeah. Like I'm not that worried for my own sake. In a sense it's almost a relief because entering a contest becomes a bit of a nuisance. But I have always felt like I should enter BTP - I'm not even sure why - but now I have a good excuse not to.
But apparently Aces can't get in because he's already got accounts at all the books. Lest we forget, he won the thing 2 years ago.
Someone like that shouldn't be on the outside looking in because of (for lack of a better term) bureaucratic reasons IMO.
Well really no one should. Your hoops-jumping point is well taken.Comment -

Any suggestions for a decent bonus @ $200 (moneygram) to start? US player that bets primarily NFL / CFB..........Comment -
