gambing books for upcoming seasons (win points)
I need some good sports betting book recommendations. Price is not an issue. Recent and up-to-date books are perfered. I like the statistical site of betting.

The first person that recommends the book I end up buying will get 5 points.

    I'm leaning towards this book:

You should also checkout thorp's book "The Mathematics of Gambling"; you should be able to download it for free. It's geared towards casino games, but the principles can be applied to sports as well.

There are a few classics. Win More, Lose Less is another. These books will help increase your understanding, but they won't teach how to raise the bar. For that I would recommend the horse racing literature. Great examples of how creative people are, and how deep they're willing to dig. Once you understand that, you can carry it over to other sports and fields.

                          Example:
Betting Thoroughbreds for the 21st Century: A Professional's Guide for the Horseplayers

A question - are you referring to Lose Less, Win More at Gambling by Jack Lemon?

Thought I was familiar with all the classics - but had never heard of this one. The only copy I see available is a used paperback on Amazon. It ships for about $45.00. For someone who has read everything else out there - do you think it's worth that price?

                              Thanks

Suspected there could be some confusion re the similar titles. Also agree that the guide you refer to would be an appropriate one for the original poster here and other novice sports bettors.

Most books you will find out there are for rookie's,..no pun on the name,.but really..Just for someone trying to learn the game and learn how to make bets.
Ive read several dozen of these type of books and a lot of them will contain the same garbage and crap you can pick up on Wiki..
Sharp sports betting starts off giving the same ol' info but it does goes a little deeper. The Mathematics of Gambling is 1 I would recommend. Very good!
