You can and you aren't rich from it because you have no clue what kind of math to use. Your concept of math appears to be a 3rd grader's view of what math is.

I feel that its not really the math, well of course you have to know it, but if you do not know computer programs as mysql php etc math will not take you anywhere

I feel the opposite. I feel that my php skills would be pretty useless (at least with respect to sports betting) if I didn't have the math skills to go with it. If I solely had math skills, on the other hand, I could at least understand the concept of beating sports betting.

Kind of a pointless argument by me though. I think we can both agree that both scripting skills and math skills are needed to beat the game.

Lol yer that we could agree on! Reason for my post is that I have high math skills, but I do not have the scripting skills, so therefor i feel a little stuck on how to find +EV bets, just really on my capping for now

I don't think you have to be a very advanced programmer to win either... I think the key to being successful at sports gambling is knowing a little bit about a lot of things and understanding how it all fits together. Yeah you have to be able to know how to get the info and what to do with it once you get it but you also need to know what info it is that you're after in the first place and why you are after it. An analytical mind is probably the most important thing.

I would agree. I think you could be very successful with a limited knowledge of any scripting language and any querying language (database).

for/while loops and if statements can get you a long way. who gives a shit if your program isn't optimal if you aren't selling it?

For those that want to learn, I'd recommend going to your local bookstore and buying a book containing both the terms PHP and MySQL. Buy the shortest such book you can find, because the large books tend to go into super advanced concepts that you just don't need to know at this point.

The reason I recommend PHP and MySQL is because they are hugely popular, and therefore getting answers to questions online is a breeze.

You can find everything you need on the Internet, but if you are a beginner I think you might benefit from the structure of a book.

i've tried to teach myself programming a dozen different times. here's what happens: you get to a certain point where you either make a mistake or become confused about something and it's very difficult to sort things out--then you're stuck.

i couldn't even follow the research thread that's stickied in this forum. and i spent a lot of time with it and tried really hard. same thing; got lost and couldn't figure my way out--even with help.

i really do think you need some one-on-one guidance at some point to get you over the hurdles.
