value of timeouts in the NBA?
Does anyone know where to find stats on the value of timeouts on a team by team basis?

Call it the timeout effect. For instance, if Spurs call timeout because Pop doesn't like what he sees, chances are that they make up a four point deficit in the next two minutes (example only). This happens all through the NBA, following a timeout, so to have this tendency for each team could be very useful for live betting.

It would have to be measured in number of points 'won' in next one or two minutes following the timeout 'called'. (preferably also the ability to withstand opponent's timeout).

Very Interesting stuff here..Teams do seem to either flourish or fail directly following timeouts throughout games..This info could be beneficial for live betting formats...

There obviously are different types of timeouts, and they should be categorized. For instance:
              A) To make adjustments.
              B) To call a play.
              C) To preserve a lead, a few minutes before the end of the half or game.

The first game I looked at, to kick off a possibly larger investigation, had two of the type A timeouts called by a team (that I won't mention), in the 1Q and 3Q respectively. Within four minutes of the first timeout they had a +7 pt margin since the timeout. Five minutes after the second timeout that margin was +9 pts.

No 2009-10 data though on timeouts.
How will you apply this - im thinking, maybe give more credit to teams down at the half, who are at the top of list of timeout effective teams?

if any coach is worth his whistle- he will be able to make corrections and instruct his players as to what is the problem- if for example the problem is lebron james running through you and sh*tting on your face and eating your kids then theres not much he can say but if youre tossing up ill-advised off-balanced threes against a penatrable loose man-zone coverage- the coach should be watch and should be able to help his team take better shots.

if they need to box out, that is the coaches job to remind them of that.
                    - today when mich state was losing and mississippi state was blowing a lead- i had a talk with my buddy about the differences in coaching. miss state's coach cost them the game, mich states coach saved it.
halftime is big to talk about corrections but timeouts are very valuable to stop momentum and also to rest players- unless the other team is in need of these things and youre callin them a free timeout- they are very very valuable. unquantifiably so- because it depends on the caliber of coach

surely you can see the contradiction in that statement.
