Microsoft Excel 2000 and 2003 and higher

Can you install both Excel 2000 and 2003 or higher simultaneously on your computer without having issues. Any experience out there.

I know this refers to to older version, but same holds true for Office 2000/2003 (don´t know about 2007).

I know you can save Excel 1997-2003 docs with 2007 excel. I have used 2007 version saved as 97-03 version then sent it to people with those versions. Not sure if that helps with your question.

Just use 2007. It is infinitely better than previous versions. FWIW, 2003 and 2007 can be installed on the same computer with 0 issues.

use openoffice calc, its free and is better than microsoft, great compatibility

I have a lap top that is running both excell 2003 and 2007 and haven't experienced any issues except it will use 2007 by default to open any file.

There is a portable version of excel that can run off usb or from a stand alone folder that might be useful.

I have one spreadsheet with over 1,000 calcs and macros that takes over eight minutes in Excel2007 just to open...forget about changing the value in a field. In Excel2003, the same spreadsheet opens in seconds and has no problem with all of the automatic recalcs.

I have both 2003 and 2007 installed. I still much prefer 2003. The "ribbon" concept stinks (way too damn big) and I do everything via keyboard shortcuts, which work slightly different in 2007.

Three questions:

Do you have enough memory?

Have you converted the sheet to Excel 2007?

Are you using Vista 64 or Windows 64? Much faster and sheets are smaller.

Useful things like Solver are broke d*ck in 2003...

...I'm out of the 32 bit world and loving it...

I installed openoffice and found it cant run macros. I set the security lower and it still cant run macros. I tried running the pro basketball spreadsheet I posted on my thread with no success. Are there attachments that have to be downloaded to run macros.
