Coming off of a clunker against the New York Islanders on Thursday, the Boston Bruins got more bad news on Friday.

Though hardly unexpected, the league announced it was denying Brad Marchand's appeal of his six-game suspension, ensuring the Bruins will be without their leading scorer for two more games.

              watching Finland vs Russia final.

Fairly sure Canada or the US could beat either of these teams if they had the NHL guys

I took Kings live for winner. By the way Thompson got a hat trick tonight in Avalanche's 5-3 win over Sabres. Colorado remains at 9 losses.

Vladislav Kolyachonok is back with the Coyotes after spending four games in the NHL earlier this season, and this time, he might have a better chance to stay around a while longer.
When the Coyotes traded Ilya Lyubushkin to the Toronto Maple Leafs last weekend, it opened up a roster spot for a defenseman. Kolyachonok got the callup from AHL Tucson on Monday, and practiced with the Coyotes on Tuesday.

The Boston Bruins have made a trade with the Arizona Coyotes, but it doesn't involve Jakob Chychrun or Phil Kessel.
Boston acquired the rights to defenseman Michael Callahan from the Coyotes in exchange for a seventh-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, the Bruins announced Tuesday night.

DeAngelo to be out one month for Hurricanes with injury

Leads Carolina defensemen in scoring, plus/minus

Tony DeAngelo is expected to be out one month for the Carolina Hurricanes because of an injury to his midsection.

The defenseman left in the second period of a 4-3 overtime win against the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday.
"He'll be out for a while," Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour said Thursday. "Did something in his midsection and it's going to need time to heal. It's a tough blow because he's obviously been a big part of what's going on. … I think probably more like a month, somewhere in there. It's long term so it is what it is."
DeAngelo leads Carolina defensemen and is tied for third with forward Teuvo Teravainen among Carolina players with 40 points (nine goals, 31 assists). DeAngelo scored 16 power-play points and his plus-19 rating leads the Hurricanes.
"It's going to affect us a lot," forward Vincent Trocheck said. "He's a great hockey player. Huge for our power play, and 5-on-5. Pretty much in all aspects of our game he's been really good for us and he brings another component to our team that has kind of taken us to the next step offensively, so we're going to miss him a lot.
"We have a lot of depth on 'D,' I think we have one of the deeper D-corps in the league, so it's next-man-up mentality."
Defenseman Jalen Chatfield was recalled from Chicago of the American Hockey League on Wednesday. He had one assist in seven games with the Hurricanes this season and scored 11 points (five goals, six assists) in 30 AHL games.
"I haven't really gotten too much into detail with how long [DeAngelo] is going to be out, " Chatfield said Thursday. "It could be long term or whatever, but I'm just going to take it game by game and just give it my all out there."
The Hurricanes host the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday.

Martin St. Louis was hired as interim coach after the Ducharme firing following the Habs dismal start. St. Louis' interim status may change soon to a fully contracted head coach. He speaks French and has GM Hughes' support and respect, plus he's got the team playig better and winning!

Nice to see all these goals in the Chicago game. Got to love when you hit a winner on the total in the 2nd period. Now I hope the Kings beat Anaheim to cap off a 2-0 night for me on the Ice.

Jokerit has decided to end its season rather than appear in the Kontinental Hockey League playoffs following Russia's invasion of Ukraine this week.
The Finland-based team was scheduled to face Moscow's Spartak in the first round of the Gagarin Cup playoffs on March 1. The league said it will revise the Western Conference playoff bracket.
Jari Kurri, the chairman of Jokerit, made the decision to suspend the team's 2021-22 season and said that "the current global situation" made it impossible to compete in the KHL playoffs.
