Matthews to have Player Safety hearing for actions in Maple Leafs game

Forward facing discipline for cross-checking Sabres defenseman Dahlin

Auston Matthews will have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Monday.

The Toronto Maple Leafs forward is facing discipline for cross-checking Buffalo Sabres defenseman Rasmus Dahlin.
The incident occurred with 5:05 remaining in the third period of the Maple Leafs' 5-2 loss at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario, on Sunday. Matthews and Dahlin each was assessed a minor for cross-checking on the play.
The following grounds are being considered for supplemental discipline: cross-checking. However, the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make adjustments to the infraction upon review.

Now I hope everyone didn't read yesterday's picks by me. Complete whiff. Although Dallas started out looking good with 2 quick goals to start the game, but then let in 4 in a row. And both games went way Over.

Today (Sunday) I'll be on Columbus at home. Merzlikins should be starting, I'd like this not as much if he isn't.

defenseman Connor Murphy left about 3 minutes into Saturday’s road game against the Ottawa Senators with an apparent head injury.

The Hawks also lost Tyler Johnson to an injury in the first period, but despite those early setbacks they went on to win, 6-3, at Canadian Tire Centre, thanks in part to two goals each from Jonathan Toews and Caleb Jones.
The sequence of Murphy’s injury began in the Hawks offensive zone with Brandon Hagel rimming the puck and Murphy dropping down to retrieve it. Senators rookie winger Parker Kelly drilled into Murphy’s back, and Murphy’s head slammed into the glass.

Guys I was thinking of a writeup, but figured nobody would see it posting an your before gametime Saturday evening. So only briefly, but offer 2 games....

    1. Weird line of the night goes to Blackhawks / Senators UNDER 5.5 +104

Seeing 80 percent or more betting the OVER just at quick glance. But I won't be. Unders are scary, but something really malodorous with that line.

Also notice LTP posted this under as his only NHL pick earlier this morning.

    2. NYR at Dallas -130. Goalies listed Shesterkin vs Oettinger. This under is also 5.5 but juiced to -115 which makes sense. But I'm interested in the moneyline here, and going with home team. This is the last game of 4 road for NYR against the Central division. They won the first one vs struggling Winnipeg, but after that lost at Minnesota and St.Louis.

The public betting seems mixed for this game. But did you know Dallas is 11-3 this year in games that go to Overtime (or Shootout). Their very first game on the schedule was at NYR on the road October 14 and beat them 3-2 in Overtime. I'm thinking tonight is Dallas win probably in Regulation, but I'll take the standard ML given their OT record.

That was a great betting situation, Coyotes on a roll and Leafs with a propensity for playing down to lesser teams.

Wow. Great value in this team if they can keep it up, I rarely bet high juice hockey.

Eichel was in Vegas' starting lineup for Thursday's tilt and received a healthy number of boos from the crowd each time he touched the puck. The Sabres showed a tribute video for him during the first TV timeout as well, which drew more boos -- and applause -- from the season-high crowd of 12,437.
It was Eichel, though, who got the last word.
"It's the loudest I've heard this place ever. Really," Eichel said after the game. "It only took seven years and me leaving for them to get into the game. It was a nice tribute. There was plenty of people here that were supporting me, and there was plenty of people that were booing me. They must just be booing me because they wish I was still here, I don't know."

Wilson, who has been suspended five times throughout his career for dirty play, delivered another questionable hit on Tuesday evening, landing what appeared to be a knee-on-knee blow on Calgary Flames star Johnny Gaudreau.

The NHL suspended its dealings with the Russia-based KHL on Monday, a move that could make it more difficult for teams to sign players from there.
The NHL told its teams to cease contact with KHL counterparts and Russia-based agents as part of the suspension of the memorandum of understanding between the leagues. They can continue to communicate with North American agents certified by the NHL Players’ Association but may have more difficulty completing agreements.

I don't feel as strongly but Columbus has been much better, and of course Boston on fire during the West Coast road trip, but tonight is a different animal and the end of their long road trip.
