Alan Kulwicki was one of the greats back then too, earned $5 million over eight seasons and, in 1992, won the Winston Cup championship and its $1-million prize. He was the inventor of the polish victory lap, driving around the track in the opposite direction, after winning a race. Sadly, he was killed in a plane crash on his way to a race in Bristol, Tenn. Just unreal, how many Nascar drivers and members on the Nascar family we've lost to plane crashes.

Quite a few,Jack Roush came close I remember he crashed his private plane in a lake and a Navy Seal as a matter of fact just luckily saw it happen and saved his life.

In for both. Just made a last minute decision to head to the race today. Found some good cheap tix on stubhub...$48 for 2 tix, turn 1, 23 rows up, on the aisle. And I had a $20 credit on stub so really $28 for the pair, unreal. I used to pay $100 each for similar seats a few years ago.

Crazy the way these races end up! I thought Jimmy was toast when he had to start at the back of the field. He didn't run good all day, until the last 10 laps and that's all that mattered for his 7th Championship! WoW!
