NFL Player News - Week 9
SF - TE Vernon Davis dealt to Broncos

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

San Francisco 49ers TE Vernon Davis and a seventh-round pick in the 2016 draft were traded to the Denver Broncos Monday, Nov. 2, in exchange for sixth-round picks in both 2016 and 2017, according to sources.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's a cheap price to pay for a player with tremendous natural ability. Davis wasn't happy with the 49ers, and he didn't mesh with QB Colin Kaepernick over the last two years. He has 18 catches for 194 yards but no touchdowns in 2015. Davis is in the final year of his contract, so the 49ers were going to lose him anyway. At least this way they get a little something for him. Davis could be a TE1 for fantasy owners, and he may be on the waiver wire for some. The Broncos are clearly in "win now" mode, and they should be with Peyton Manning in perhaps his last season and that world-class defense.

CHI - RB Matt Forte may not miss time

    Source: NFL.com - Marc Sessler

Updating a previous report, Chicago Bears RB Matt Forte (knee) is dealing with a knee sprain and isn't expected to be out long term. There's even a chance that Forte could play as soon as Week 9 against the San Diego Chargers Monday, Nov. 9. Forte had been rumored to be trade bait this year, but his knee injury should quiet that chatter.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Bears should be cautious with Forte here. Most reports indicate he'll be out a couple of weeks. That's a minor knee injury, but they need to make sure he's close to full strength before putting him on the field.

PIT - Le'Veon Bell to IR, Isaiah Pead signs

    Source: Steelers.com

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Nov. 2, and free-agent RB Isaiah Pead (Rams) was signed to an undisclosed deal in a corresponding move.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Pead isn't good, but he gives the team veteran depth behind DeAngelo Williams.

BUF - QB Tyrod Taylor still wearing brace

    Source: The Associated Press

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor (knee) was still wearing a brace on his knee during practice Monday, Nov. 2, but head coach Rex Ryan expects Taylor to start in Week 9 against the Miami Dolphins after he missed two games with a sprained left knee.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Bills play at home this week, and getting Taylor back should boost the offense. We'll also be monitoring the health status of RB Karlos Williams as he could return from a concussion this week.

SD - WR Keenan Allen checked into hospital

Source: The San Diego Union-Tribune - Michael Gehlken

San Diego Chargers TE Keenan Allen (kidney) checked into a San Diego hospital after his symptoms worsened following the flight from Baltimore Sunday, Nov. 1. Allen is expected to miss 'some time,' according to head coach Mike McCoy. Allen was tied for third-most in NFL history with 67 catches through the first eight games of the season, trailing only Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (70) and Marvin Harrison (69).

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Allen is likely to miss multiple weeks because of this injury. Watch for any other news reports as we need to get further clarity on his condition. In the meantime, several fantasy owners will be making changes at the WR position while Allen is out.

NO - RB Mark Ingram to see heavier workload

    Source: NFL.com - Kevin Patra

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram is likely to see a heavier workload with RB Khiry Robinson (leg) out for the season, and Ingram could also be in line for more goal-line work. RB C.J. Spiller could also see an increase in workload, but the Saints are bringing him along slowly coming off injury, and he has averaged 16.7 snaps a game and hasn't been involved in more than 21 plays in seven games this year.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That makes sense, and it's a move we expected once Robinson went down. Ingram is built for a large workload, and he'll continue as a RB1/RB2 for fantasy owners. Spiller's workload could increase, so have him around as a potential flex option each week depending on the matchup.

NYJ - QB Ryan Fitzpatrick will have to deal with pain

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

Updating previous reports, New York Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick's (thumb) ability to play in Week 9 will largely come down to pain tolerance, according to head coach Todd Bowles. QB Geno Smith (shoulder) underwent tests Monday, Nov. 2, that revealed a 'big bruise.' Smith has no structural damage to his shoulder.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bowles is not very confident that Fitzpatrick will be able to play against the Jacksonville Jaguars right now. The Jets are strongly considering trading for a veteran quarterback before the trade deadline Tuesday, Nov. 3.

NYJ - QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB Geno Smith day-to-day

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets QBs Ryan Fitzpatrick (thumb) and Geno Smith (shoulder) are listed as day-to-day, according to head coach Todd Bowles.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Expect the Jets to make a move for a veteran quarterback. Either through free agency or via trade before the deadline coming up on Tuesday.

NYJ - WR Brandon Marshall's status uncertain

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (ankle, toe) may miss the Jet's Week 9 contest versus the Jacksonville Jaguars, but head coach Todd Bowles said it's too early to tell.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Wait to see if Marshall can practice later in the week.

NYJ - Knee still bothering WR Eric Decker

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (knee) said he is getting better but that his injured knee is still bothering him.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Expect Decker to be limited in practice again this week. Even on Friday, Decker may only be a limited participant. Barring any setbacks, he should play...but make sure to have other options ready.

CHI - No surgery for WR Eddie Royal?

    Source: ESPNChicago.com - Jeff Dickerson

Chicago Bears WR Eddie Royal (knee) should not need surgery on his injured knee, according to head coach John Fox.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Get Marquess Wilson ready if you have Eddie Royal. The Bears are trying to be quite clandestine about injuries (and everything) this year under John Fox. There is absolutely no clarity about this situation, so get other players ready if you play in deeper leagues.

SF - QB Colin Kaepernick to be benched?

    Source: ESPNChicago.com - Jeff Dickerson

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick may not be the starting quarterback moving forward. When asked if Kaepernick is still the starter, head coach Jim Tomsula said, 'We're evaluating anyone.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's pretty bad if you're going to get benched for Blaine Gabbert. The 49ers need to get on the winning track, but we don't see Gabbert doing much better than Kaepernick.

NO - RB Khiry Robinson out for the year

Source: NFL Network - Andrew Siciliano
New Orleans Saints RB Khiry Robinson (leg) had surgery on his broken leg and will miss the remainder of the season, according to head coach Sean Payton.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
A sad way for Robinson to end his season. Without him on the field, we should see more from Mark Ingram and C.J. Spiller.

BAL - WR Steve Smith intends to return next year

Source: CBSSports.com - Jason La Canfora

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith (Achilles') has scheduled surgery on Nov. 9 with the intentions of returning to play next season, according to sources. Smith tore his Achilles' tendon in the Week 8 game against the San Diego Chargers. The Ravens would welcome him back if he chooses to return in 2016.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We don't want to see Smith go out like that. He's been one of the best receivers in the NFL, and Smith was playing at a high level this season. Achilles' injuries aren't quite as devastating as they used to be, so there's a chance Smith could be ready by the start of the 2016 season if he doesn't retire.

DAL - QB Tony Romo on track for Week 11

    Source: NFL.com

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (clavicle) is still 'on target' to return when eligible in Week 11 against the Miami Dolphins. The fact that Romo isn't expected to practice this week isn't a bad sign.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Cowboys need Romo in a bad way. They'll take the time to get him right, then he'll return to the field with the expectation of pulling this franchise out of a rut. Romo should be back soon....stay tuned.

SF - RB Shaun Draughn joining San Francisco

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Free-agent RB Shaun Draughn (Browns) agreed to terms with the San Francisco 49ers Monday, Nov. 2. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The 49ers had to do something. Carlos Hyde (foot), Mike Davis (hand) and Reggie Bush (torn ACL) are all hurt. That means Draughn could get an opportunity with his new team.

SEA - WR Ricardo Lockette's career in jeopardy

    Source: NFL.com - Conor Orr

Updating a previous report, Seattle Seahawks WR Ricardo Lockette (neck) has 'full motion and feeling in all extremities' and is undergoing surgery Monday, Nov. 2, but his playing career is in jeopardy.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This injury was incredibly severe. We're glad Lockette has all his motor skills, and now he faces a long road to recovery.

DEN - QB Peyton Manning not finding tight ends

    Source: ESPN Stats and Information

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning is completing only 58% of his attempted passes to tight ends this season, down from 70% during his first three seasons with the Broncos.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Broncos showed more emphasis on the TEs in the Week 8 throttling of the Packers. We'll see if Vernon Davis can take over at the position and be at least a high-upside TE2 for fantasy owners.

TEN - RB David Cobb overweight

    Source: TitansInsider.com - Terry McCormick

Tennessee Titans RB David Cobb was overweight when he reported to last week's weigh-in. It could be a factor in determining whether or not Cobb receives carries right away when he returns.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's not what you want to hear as Cobb is close to getting to the field. We love his natural talent, power and instinct for running the ball...and we feel he's easily the best back for the Titans. If Cobb gets in shape and earns the starting job, he could be a nice RB2/flex play for fantasy owners.

TEN - QB Marcus Mariota to return to practice

    Source: NFL.com - Jeremy Bergman

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (knee) is expected to return to practice Wednesday, Nov. 4, according to head coach Ken Whisenhunt.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team doesn't want to rush their franchise quarterback into action, but he's certainly going to upgrade the offense over Zach Mettenberger. Mariota has sat out the team's last two games, both losses.

NYJ - QB Matt Flynn an option

    Source: NFL.com - Dan Hanzus

Free-agent QB Matt Flynn (Jets) is an option to be re-signed by the New York Jets, according to head coach Todd Bowles. QB Bryce Petty could also see more practice this week with both QBs Ryan Fitzpatrick (thumb) and Geno Smith (shoulder) injured.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Petty just isn't ready. He has plenty of arm talent, but he ran a gimmicky system in college at Baylor and isn't used to going through progressions--or even taking snaps from under center.

NYG - DE Jason Pierre-Paul not ruled out

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Dan Graziano

New York Giants DE Jason Pierre-Paul (hand, finger) has not been ruled out for Week 9 yet, according to head coach Tom Coughlin.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The veteran pass-rusher will be back out there soon enough...and this defense could certainly use him. Coughlin said Pierre-Paul's availability largely depends on his conditioning.

SF - WR Torrey Smith invisible again

Source: San Francisco Chronicle - Scott Ostler

San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith was once again a non-factor in the Week 8 loss to the St. Louis Rams, and he showed his frustration after the game, especially because of a play in which QB Colin Kaepernick failed to recognize that Smith was left uncovered. Kaepernick has frequently been criticized for his lack of field vision. Smith finished with just two catches on five targets in the game after dropping his only target in Week 7.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Smith is not a fantasy asset you want to roster. The team may be switching to QB Blaine Gabbert soon, and that should tell you everything you need to know about the state of this passing game.

WAS - Confidence key for WR DeSean Jackson

    Source: ESPN.com - John Keim

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson (hamstring) wants to build confidence that his injured hamstring is at 100%, which would enable him to play without worrying about aggravating the injury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jackson is a deep receiver with the speed to take the top off the defense. A hamstring injury can be (and has been) especially devastating for a player like that.

SF - RB Mike Davis has fractured hand

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

San Francisco 49ers RB Mike Davis (hand) is believed to have suffered a fractured hand in Week 8, according to sources.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Just what the 49ers didn't need...another injury to a running back. Carlos Hyde is down with a foot injury, and now the rookie Davis is banged up. Stay tuned for more information when more testing is done.

BUF - Buffalo optimistic about WR Sammy Watkins

    Source: NFL.com - Kevin Patra

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (ankle) was working on the side in practice Monday, Nov. 2, and head coach Rex Ryan expects Watkins to be limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Having Watkins on the field (and QB Tyrod Taylor) should make a big difference for the Bills offense. The Bills and Ryan feel good about Watkins returning in Week 9.

        Wednesday Update

SD - WR Keenan Allen going to IR

        Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen (kidney) is being placed on the Reserve/Injured list with a lacerated kidney, according to sources.

        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bad news for the Chargers here. Allen is expected to make a full recovery, but he will miss the rest of the season.

IND - Rob Chudzinski taking over as OC

Source: NFL Network - Albert Breer

Indianapolis Colts associate head coach Rob Chudzinski will take over the offensive coordinator duties with Pep Hamilton out.

        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Chudzinski did a good job with the Panthers as their offensive coordinator a few years ago. He'll take over an offense that has not one, but two talented tight ends and some talent at the wide receiver position. Too bad the offensive line isn't better as that seems to be the larger problem with Indy.

IND - Indy fires offensive coordinator

        Source: ESPN.com - Mike Wells

Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton was fired Tuesday, Nov. 3, according to sources.

        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hamilton was part of the problem, but he was no way the entire cause of Indy's struggles. The offensive line is atrocious and QB Andrew Luck is likely more banged up than he's letting on. We'll see Rob Chudzinski take over as the OC for the Colts. His first task? Creating a gameplan to take on the dreaded Denver Broncos defense in Week 9....good luck.

SF - RB Pierre Thomas replacing RB Reggie Bush

        Source: NFL.com - Gregg Rosenthal

San Francisco 49ers RB Pierre Thomas is essentially taking over for RB Reggie Bush (knee) as San Francisco's passing-down back. Thomas caught 45 passes last season, averaging 8.4 yards per catch.

        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Thomas could be the most fantasy relevant back with the 49ers, but that's not saying much. Carlos Hyde is dealing with a stress fracture in his foot, Reggie Bush is out for the year with a knee injury and Mike Davis needs surgery on his broken hand. We'll see how the time/touches are split in the backfield going forward, but we are avoiding the 49ers offense like the plague.

DAL - RB Joseph Randle released by Dallas

Source: Fort Worth Star-Telegram - Clarence E. Hill Jr.

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle was released Tuesday, Nov. 3, according to team sources.

        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Randle was having personal problems, and he's always been a player who might have been on the edge of the roster...even when he was starting. His off-field issues and average skill set means Randle may have a difficult time finding a new job.

BAL - WR Steve Smith may not retire

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Updating a previous report, Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith (Achilles') has not made a final decision on his playing status for 2016.

        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're hoping that Smith continues to play, but that's a decision he has plenty of time to make. He's still capable of playing at a high level, and Achilles' injuries aren't quite as devastating as they used to be.

DET - WR Calvin Johnson didn't ask for trade

        Source: ESPN.com - Michael Rothstein

Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson said he hasn't demanded a trade after the team has started the season as a disappointment, and he wants to win with the Lions. He wouldn't say whether his contract included a no-trade clause. 'I'm fortunate enough to play in this league, that the Lions took me where I'm at,' Johnson said. 'They brought me here and I have a great cast of teammates, you know, guys I have been playing with for a long time.'

        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Lions are awful, but Johnson is not the problem. A lack of creativity in the playbook and a QB who makes poor decisions are the biggest part of what is wrong with the Lions.

NYJ - Try out several wide receivers

        Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Free-agent WRs Jarrett Boykin (Panthers), Aldrick Robinson (Ravens), Greg Salas (Lions) and Damaris Johnson (Texans) tried out for the New York Jets Tuesday, Nov. 3.

        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No signing is imminent for any of these players. The Jets are likely just updating their emergency list.

SF - Surgery successful for RB Reggie Bush

Source: Yahoo! Sports - Charles Robinson

San Francisco 49ers RB Reggie Bush's (knee) surgery on his torn medial collateral ligament went well Tuesday, Nov. 3.

        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bush has already been placed on the Reserve/Injured list and is out for the year. He's getting closer to wrapping up his pro career. Bush will enter free agency next year at age 31.

SF - QB Colin Kaepernick benching via front office?

Source: Yahoo! Sports - Rand Getlin

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick's benching may have been the front office's doing, according to sources.

        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It doesn't really matter...he's on the bench in favor of Blaine Gabbert. The former first-round pick of the Jaguars (2010) had a decent preseason for the 49ers, but he's long been known as a bad/inaccurate passer who "sees ghosts" o the field. That means Gabbert feels pressure (and reacts to it negatively) even when pressure isn't there.

SD - RB Branden Oliver placed on IR

        Source: Chargers.com - Ricky Henne

San Diego Chargers RB Branden Oliver (toe) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Nov. 3.

        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Oliver made a splash in 2014 for fantasy owners, but now his 2015 season is over. Look for Melvin Gordon and Danny Woodhead to continue in their current roles for the Chargers offense.

CLE - QB Josh McCown may miss some time

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns QB Josh McCown (ribs) said it will take him longer than a few days or weeks for his ribs to heal. Neither McCown nor head coach Mike Pettine are saying whether or not McCown's ribs are broken, but McCown is sore and having trouble breathing and sleeping.

        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He has not been ruled out, but his status for Week 9 isn't looking good. That means Johnny Manziel should start this week against the Bengals on Thursday night.

NYG - TE Larry Donnell has sore neck

Source: New York Daily News - Ralph Vacchiano

New York Giants TE Larry Donnell (neck) has avoided a serious injury but is dealing with a sore neck, according to a source.

        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Donnell has seemingly avoided a severe injury here, and he has to be considered day-to-day. If he plays in Week 9 against the Bucs, Donnell would be nothing more than a TE2 for fantasy owners.

PHI - WR Nelson Agholor could return Sunday

Source: The Philadelphia Inquirer - Jeff McLane

Philadelphia Eagles WR Nelson Agholor (ankle) is looking to return to action in Week 9, but it's not a sure thing yet.

        [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Keep an eye on the team's practice reports to see if the rookie is going to play. Agholor had a fine preseason, but he's been a disappointment since the games started counting. Most every fantasy owner (outside of dynasty leagues) should have already moved on.

Excited to see how Davis does with the Broncos. He should get a second wind being with a winning team and a QB that love to throw to the TE

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant (illness) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 5.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We see Bryant as very productive this Sunday, and an excellent WR2 start against Oakland.

CHI - RB Matt Forte sits Thursday

Source: Chicago Tribune - Rich Campbell

Chicago Bears RB Matt Forte (knee) was out of practice Thursday, Nov. 5. ESPN's Jeff Dickerson reports Forte is truly considered day-to-day and his status for the Week 9 game against the San Diego Chargers Monday, Nov. 9, is uncertain, according to head coach John Fox.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It looks like Jeremy Langford will get most of the carries Monday and we think he should be a decent RB3 play.

BUF - QB Tyrod Taylor fully practices

                                      Source: NFL

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 5.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Taylor is an intriguing start against the Miami Dolphins. The Bills are likely to try and run a lot, but Taylor can do that. He also can throw the ball well, though his receivers are somewhat banged up. We think he's a very good QB2 start with some QB1 upside.

IND - QB Andrew Luck practices

                                      Source: NFL

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (ankle) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 5.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Luck is playing, so we aren't shocked he fully practiced though it's a good sign. Of course, he has a bad case of the mental yips as well and we don't believe those are all gone. Against the Denver defense and secondary, we would avoid Luck, playing him as a low-end QB2 only if we had to.

NYJ - QB Ryan Fitzpatrick won't be limited

                                      Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (thumb) wore a protective glove on his left hand during practice Thursday, Nov. 5, and he will wear it again in Week 9 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Offensive coordinator Chan Gailey doesn't think Fitzpatrick will have major issues, so the team doesn't anticipate changing the game plan. Fitzpatrick will be able to take snaps under center and execute handoffs with his left hand.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Taking snaps under center and the handoffs were the biggest obstacle. We don't feel comfortable that he won't get his hand jacked up again and leave the game, and he could be without Eric Decker. Overall we see him as a low-end QB2 option and would look elsewhere if possible.

NYJ - WR Eric Decker a game-time decision?

                                      Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (knee) is hopeful of playing in Week 9 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but it sounds as though he'll be a game-time decision after missing his second straight practice Thursday, Nov. 5.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If he misses Friday you can just about count him out. At the very least, you had better have another option. If he plays, right now we have him as a WR3.

NYJ - WR Brandon Marshall limited

Source: New York Daily News - Manish Mehta

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (toe, ankle) was limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 5.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The staff has said that even if he doesn't practice at all, Marshall could play so we're not too worried. Even if the toe hampers him a little, he's played through worse and we see high-end WR2 numbers from him against Jacksonville.

NO - WR Marques Colston a full participant

                                      Source: NFL

New Orleans Saints WR Marques Colston (non-injury) participated fully in practice Thursday, Nov. 5.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Colston had a good game against the Giants but we expect him to slip back into irrelevancy again as no more than a solid WR5.

NO - Willie Snead still limited

                                      Source: NFL

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (knee) was limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 5.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Snead should be good to go and coming off a two-touchdown game against the Giants. While we don't expect those numbers again, we do think he will put together some nice WR2/WR3 numbers against the Titans.

TEN - Mariota, WR Harry Douglas fully practice

                                      Source: NFL

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (knee) and WR Harry Douglas (ribs) participated fully in practice Thursday, Nov. 5.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

MAriota could be a decent QB2 start as he will likely have to throw a lot to keep Tennessee in the game with a high-powered New Orleans offense. That won't translate much to Douglas, who is really no more than a WR4/WR5.

PIT - WR Markus Wheaton limited

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Markus Wheaton (ankle) was limited during practice Thursday, Nov. 5.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We wouldn't have him in a lineup this week, as Martavis Bryant (WR2) and Antonio Brown (WR1) should get all the targets while tight end Heath Miller (TE1) will finally be relevant again

Buffalo Bills RB Karlos Williams (concussion) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 5.

He's stuck behind LeSean McCoy now, and no better than an RB4, unless Shady gets hurt.

IND - T.J. Hilton unlikely to play

                                      Source: NFL.com

Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton (foot) missed practice for the second straight day Thursday, Nov. 5, and appears unlikely to play in Week 9 against the Denver Broncos. Hilton was in a boot during practice Thursday for his foot sprain. WRs Andre Johnson and Donte Moncrief are likely to see extra looks if Hilton sits out.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This isn't a great matchup for average receivers. Moncrief is no more than a WR4 against the powerful Denver secondary while Johnson is a WR5. Neither would be optimal for a lineup spot.

                                      Source: NFL.com

Tennessee Titans RB David Cobb (calf) is likely to be activated from the short-term Reserve/Injured list next week, according to interim head coach Mike Mularkey.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He could step right into the starting job. Antonio Andrews is a plodder (and an RB4 this week against New Orleans), and Dexter McCluster is no more than a scat back and a low-end RB4 start.

Chicago Bears TE Martellus Bennett has been less productive so far this year. He has only caught 13 passes the last three weeks and only caught three passes last week. Bennett said being asked to block has caused him to be less involved in the passing game.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The offense just hasn't flowed his way. However, if Matt Forte is out, Bennett could see an uptick in targets and we see him as a low-end TE1 this week, finally back on track.

TEN - WR Kendall Wright to miss Week 9

                                      Source: ESPN.com - Paul Kuharsky

Tennessee Titans WR Kendall Wright (knee) will not play this week due to a sprained left knee he suffered last week against the Houston Texans, according to interim head coach Mike Mularkey.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We might finally see what rookie Dorial Green-Beckham can do, though we are expecting WR4 numbers at best. The chaos around the facility doesn't exactly instill confidence either.

Indianapolis Colts WR Andre Johnson (non-injury) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 5.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Johnson is looking old and no better than a WR5, but if TY Hilton is out, he might be a little more effective. Don't bet the house on it though, as both Johnson and Andrew Luck are unreliable.

DAL - WR Dez Bryant limited again

                                      Source: NFL.com

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant (foot) was limited in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Nov. 5.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bryant is likely to be limited most of the rest of the season, but he should be able to get the best of the Eagles secondary and put up some WR1 numbers.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins (shoulder) was limited in practice for a second consecutive day Thursday, Nov. 5.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We want to see Seferian-Jenkins play because we think he and Jameis Winston will be very effective, but we're concerned this shoulder issue could continue to linger. If he plays we feel he has TE2 potential—and could be a high end play at that level—but we would like to see a full practice also.

DEN - TE Owen Daniels practices Thursday

                                      Source: NFL

Denver Broncos TE Owen Daniels (shoulder) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 5.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Daniels wasn't doing much before Vernon Davis arrived and while we don't expect big things from Davis, Daniels chances will still shrink. If you haven't already, you can let him go.

DEN - RB C.J. Anderson takes part in practice

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (ankle) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 5.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Anderson finally looked like his old self so getting this 'full practice' is good to see. The Colts can be run on and Denver finally seems to have remembered how to do that, so it's a great combination. We expect the Broncos to pound the ball, so Anderson is a solid RB2/RB3 candidate and Ronnie Hillman is a nice RB2 choice as well.

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (thigh) was limited during practice Thursday, Nov. 5.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Colts still get run on a lot, so if Hillman is ready to go on Sunday he should bring some nice RB2 production. We think that the Broncos have finally found their groove on the ground, and will pound the rock again this week. We actually think there will be plenty to eat for both Hillman and CJ Anderson, who is a borderline RB2/RB3 himself.

New York Giants TE Larry Donnell (neck) missed practice Thursday, Nov. 5. He is not expected to play in Week 9.

Prepare to be Tye-Dyed! No? Ok, well prepare for Will Tye to step in as he is the only healthy tight end on the roster. He's a bit athletic and has upside, but he's no more than a very low end TE2.

MIA - TE Jordan Cameron lands on injury report

                                      Source: Sun-Sentinel - Omar Kelly

Miami Dolphins TE Jordan Cameron (hamstring) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Nov. 5, after he injured his hamstring this week. Cameron's status for Week 9 against the Buffalo Bills is unknown. TE Dion Sims would step in as the primary tight end if Cameron doesn't play this weekend, and TEs Brandon Williams or Jake Stoneburner would fill in as the second tight end.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cameron has been a bust of a signing for the Miami Dolphins and pretty much useless in fantasy. Even if he plays he's a TE3. Ironically, former Dolphin and current Bills tight end Charles Clay is a borderline TE1/TE2 this week.

SD - TE Antonio Gates limited Thursday

San Diego Chargers TE Antonio Gates (knee) was limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 5.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With Ladarius Green banged up and Keenan Allen gone, Gates has to have big games to keep the chains moving for the offense. We believe he will and have him as a high-end TE1. His daily fantasy price is very nice as well.

MIN - Limited practice for WR Stefon Diggs

Minnesota Vikings WR Stefon Diggs (hamstring) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Nov. 5.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lots of people who got Diggs cheap and many daily fantasy players are anxious for him to fully practice as he has been a great value this year. The Rams don't possess a great secondary but do have a fierce front line while Minnesota's line is shaky. This isn't the best game for him to go into banged up but he just keeps on producing and Teddy Bridgewater loves to throw to him. If he plays, play him as a WR3 and you should be fine overall.

                                      Source: Steelers.com

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Dri Archer was released Thursday, Nov. 5.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Archer just wasn't getting it done and that he was released after Le'Veon Bell went down speaks volumes as to how badly he was off. This leaves DeAngelo Williams' backups as Jordan Todman and Isaiah Pead. Williams is a solid RB2 against the Oakland Raiders but the others aren't worth rostering.

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (knee) and RB Dion Lewis (abdomen) were limited participants in practice Thursday, Nov. 5.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We think Lewis could be a top ten RB this week, so keep an eye on his status. Ultimately, we expect him to play and this is a step in the right direction.

Philadelphia Eagles WR Nelson Agholor (ankle) practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Nov. 5.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is a good sign for the rookie but he hasn't been able to produce in this offense yet. It's odd because he should be a great fit for the spread Chip Kelly runs. Agholor has great hands, and can make plays after the catch so we think at some point he'll break out. Until then though, he sits as a WR6.

Philadelphia Eagles RB Ryan Mathews (groin) missed practice Thursday, Nov. 5, after being limited the day before.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We think he'll play and he's been a much better fit for Chip Kelly's offense than DeMarco Murray, though Kelly still uses both heavily. Mathews is a borderline RB2/RB3 this week against Dallas and should have some success if the groin doesn't continue to be an issue.

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns (ankle, thigh) was limited in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Nov. 5.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Since we expect Allen Robinson getting a lot of attention from Darrelle Revis, that means Hurns gets Cromartie, who was manhandled by Michael Crabtree last weekend in Oakland. Start Hurns as a solid WR2.

San Diego Chargers TE Ladarius Green (ankle) missed practice again Thursday, Nov. 5.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Green has shown that he has a lot of talent, but the consistency that he gets hurt is holding him back. This remains Antonio Gates' show. We expect Gates to be heavily utilized this weekend against Chicago and to put up TE1 numbers.

                                      [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The offense, the opposing defense and the lack of good chemistry between Watkins and quarterback Tyrod Taylor give us a little pause, and sets Watkins back as a WR3. He does have some nice upside, though, if the offense hums and the defense collapses without Cameron Wake.

D-Jax has been out a long time.

DeSean Jackson (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Week 9 against the Patriots.

He was limited all week but should be in line to play Sunday against New England. The Redskins will have to throw it early and often to keep up with the Patriots' high-powered offense. D-Jax should see plenty of targets on Sunday.

CHI - RB Matt Forte not ruled out yet - but not expected to play

Chicago Bears RB Matt Forte (knee) won't be ruled out for Week 9 against the San Diego Chargers Monday, Nov. 9, until at least Saturday, Nov. 7. Head coach John Fox isn't putting a timetable on Forte. However, it looks clear that RB Jeremy Langford will start against San Diego after Forte missed another practice Friday, Nov. 6.

Thank you John Fox. Yes, it's true...Forte has not been ruled out yet. However, we'd be flat out shocked if the veteran running back played on Monday night against the Chargers. It doesn't take a Ovaltine Decoder Ring to figure out that Forte is highly unlikely to play. Chicago Tribune writer, Dan Wiederer reported that Forte is out for the game.

It will be good to have both out on the field, but don't expect a ton of fantasy production from either. Let's see how they perform in their first week back before trusting them in our fantasy lineups.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson (knee) has been ruled out for the Week 9 game against the New York Giants.

DEN - TE Vernon Davis to see limited action

Source: The Denver Post - Troy E. Renck

Denver Broncos TE Vernon Davis had a good week of practice with the team and will be active in Week 9 against the Indianapolis Colts, according to head coach Gary Kubiak.

                                                [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Broncos hope to use Davis in a limited amount of plays in his debut with the team. Davis is going to take about a month to get "up to speed" in the Broncos offense. The optimistic view this week should be a couple of catches and maybe a touchdown for Davis. That makes him a TE2 and way-out-on-a-limb pick for fantasy owners in Week 9.

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa (back) was limited in practice all week and is probable for Week 9.

Darkwa could get a rushing score or two if the Giants can move up and down the field on the Bucs the way they did on the Saints, but he still has a very low floor in the dysfunctional Giants running game.

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (knee) practiced Friday, Nov. 6, and will start against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 9.

Decker and Brandon Marshall's prospects are both looking up with Ryan Fitzpatrick starting this week.

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (knee) will officially return to start in Week 9 against the New Orleans Saints, according to interim head coach Mike Mularkey. Mariota had a good week of practice and will wear a knee brace in his return.

                                                [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mariota has a good matchup, but the knee brace could impede him as a runner, and he is playing without his #1 receiver. The best thing going for Mariota is the Saints inconsistent defense and the likelihood that he'll be playing from behind.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans (groin, oblique) admitted that he tweaked his groin and oblique trying to catch a pass in the Week 8 game. 'My groin, if I wouldn't have dropped the pass I wouldn't have hurt my groin,' Evans said. 'Yeah, I dropped the pass and I turned before I secured the ball. And then the guy pushed me, and I tried to stop myself and it like tweaked up a little bit on me.' 'It felt kind of like my ribs were broken,' Evans said, but the sharp pain steadily subsided.

Evans window of good health was short. He still drew three pass interference penalties and will be the primary target against a secondary that just gave up seven touchdowns. He's still a fine WR2 start.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins (shoulder) continues to work toward returning in Week 9 against the New York Giants, but he wants to be 100% healthy before coming back to action. He has missed the last five games and 12 of 23 games in his short time with Tampa Bay.

Seferian-Jenkins is optimistic he can play this weekend but isn't sure if he will. The Giants have allowed a league-high 684 yards and five touchdowns to tight ends this year.

Kendall Gaskins should be the lead back for the 49ers. This further indicates you don't want any part of the 49ers offense in your fantasy lineup.

Against a poor Raiders secondary, we like Bryant as a high-upside WR2. With six teams on bye, there may even be some of you out there who must start Bryant as a WR1. We're okay with that.

Against the Patriots, we expect Washington to have to play "catch up" football. This could lead to a larger role for the speedy Thompson. He's a sneaky play in GPPs for DFS players. For season-long fantasy players, Thompson should be considered a "what the heck" flex in Week 9.

Jackson appears to be on track to return for the first time since Week 1. It's going to be interesting to see if Jackson can take the top off the Patriots defense a time or two. In leagues that reward points for big plays, Jackson is worth taking a chance on as a WR4/flex play.

We're expecting a ton of points to be scored in this one. Edelman is a WR2 with upside in PPR leagues, while Lewis is a RB1 for fantasy owners in Week 9 against Washington.

The Rams defense is going to bring the heat, and we'll see how Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater responds. Diggs has been a hot starter in recent weeks, but lower expectations as he's dealing with this hamstring injury.

Randle is set up for a big second half if he can get healthy because defenses are going to be obsessed with a full-speed Odell Beckham. Randle finished strong last year drafting Beckham's slipstream, and he could be solid against a very poor Tampa secondary. A Week 11 bye should help Randle be stronger for the stretch run.

Cameron has been on and off of the injury report this year, and he hasn't come through for us when he has been on the field. He can be dropped in redraft leagues as his tremendous physical talent and natural ball skills are going to waste.

It sounds like Watkins had an issue with his ankle on Thursday. He thinks he'll play but check back on Sunday morning. His status is big for Tyrod Taylor, who has had much more success in the passing game when Watkins has been in.

QB Tyrod Taylor is returning this week, and it would greatly help him to have a weapon like Watkins on the field. Since Watkins is a game-time decision, we can't trust him as a starter this week.
