HOU - RB Arian Foster officially out for the year

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Updating a previous report, Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (Achilles') is officially out for the remainder of the season with a torn Achilles' tendon.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is what most expected. It's a horrible way for Foster to end the season, and this is an injury that could end his career. We hope that's not the case, and Achilles' injuries aren't quite as devastating as they used to be. However, Foster has likely played his last down with the Texans. Fantasy owners should go the waiver wire for Alfred Blue and/or Chris Polk. With the team passing the ball so much, Polk (the better receiving back) might do more than people think.

DAL - WR Dez Bryant remains day-to-day

    Source: NFL.com - Jeremy Bergman

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant (foot) remains day-to-day and will continue to be evaluated as the week progresses.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He's going to be back in the near future. The Cowboys have been encouraged by Bryant's recent workouts.

    DET - QB Matthew Stafford's X-ray results

    Source: NFL.com - Jeremy Bergman

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford's (hand) X-rays came back negative Monday, Oct. 26, according to head coach Jim Caldwell.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Stafford is getting beat up this year. Hopefully the team's coaching changes can help their quarterback. It's good news that his X-rays came back negative.

NE - RB Dion Lewis listed as limited

    Source: Patriots.com

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis (abdomen) still looks to be limited with his injury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's a short week for the Patriots as they play against the Dolphins on Thursday night. Have other plans if you're wanting to get Lewis into the lineup. We'll have to monitor his practice status later in the week.

DET - Detroit offensive personnel fired

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi, offensive line coach Jeremiah Washburn and assistant offensive line coach Terry Heffernan were let go Monday, Oct. 26, according to sources. Quarterbacks coach Jim Bob Cooter will take over as the new offensive coordinator.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Lions needed to make changes, and now they have. Lombardi's offense lacked creativity and was known to be incredibly predictable. The Lions were not protecting Matthew Stafford well, and that's arguably the first thing which needs to change in order for the Lions to perform better offensively.

NYJ - RB Chris Ivory dealing with tightness

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets RB Chris Ivory (quadriceps) is dealing with tightness in his quadriceps following a Week 7 loss to the New England Patriots.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Great, just what fantasy owners didn't want to hear. Ivory is super talented, and he's playing like a RB1 this season. However, he's almost always been banged up as a pro. Ivory has only played one 16-game season (2014) as a pro. Those in deeper leagues should be considering Stevan Ridley as a waiver wire addition.

CLE - QB Josh McCown day-to-day

Source: The Chronicle-Telegram - Scott Petrak

Cleveland Browns QB Josh McCown (shoulder) is considered day-to-day because of his shoulder injury and probably will not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 28.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Week 8 Johnny Manziel Watch is on! Head coach Mike Pettine said McCown will start against Arizona Cardinals in Week 8 if he is healthy.

NYG - RB Orleans Darkwa to see more touches?

    Source: NJ.com - James Kratch

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa had played on just two offensive snaps heading into Week 7 against the Dallas Cowboys, but he was the leading rusher in the preseason by averaging 4.4 yards per carry. Offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo was non-committal if Darkwa would see more work behind RBs Rashad Jennings, Shane Vereen and Andre Williams.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

What's better than a three-headed RBBC? Why a four-headed RBBC of course! Darkwa has been everything the Giants thought Williams would be. We'll be adding him in deeper leagues just in case he emerges from this pack of mediocre (Jennings), misused (Vereen) and bad (Williams) backs.

DAL - RB Joseph Randle to miss some time

    Source: NFL.com - Jeremy Bergman

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle (oblique) is dealing with an oblique injury and is likely to miss some time, according to a source. RB Darren McFadden had a season-high 152 rushing yards in the Week 7 loss to the New York Giants in Randle's absence.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The injury was supposed to be minor, but the team will re-evaluate Randle to see how serious the problem is. McFadden is the player to add in this backfield, and Christine Michael is still waiting in the wings for his opportunity.

OAK - TE Clive Walford sees more time

    Source: CSNBayArea.com - Scott Bair
Oakland Raiders TE Clive Walford received a season-high 28 offensive snaps in the team's Week 7 game. Head coach Jack Del Rio said Walford will be more involved as the season goes on.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Walford was our second-favorite tight end in this year's draft class (behind Maxx Williams). He was a standout player at the Senior Bowl earlier this year, and on film in college at Miami Walford was a player who could make difficult catches seem routine. We're excited to see him involved more in the offense going forward.

TEN - RB Antonio Andrews could see more carries
Source: The Tennessean - John Glennon
Tennessee Titans RB Antonio Andrews deserves more carries, according to head coach Ken Whisenhunt. Andrew ran for 57 yards on 10 carries in a Week 7 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
We're waiting for rookie David Cobb to get off IR/R and win the starting job. Andrews may get more time, but in most matchups we're unlikely to recommend him as anything more than a flex play or RB3.

ATL - WR Leonard Hankerson to miss practice
    Source: NFL.com - Jeremy Bergman
Atlanta Falcons WR Leonard Hankerson (hamstring) will not practice Wednesday, Oct. 28.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
This does not bode well for Hankerson's Week 8 availability. The Falcons are at home to take on the Buccaneers on Sunday.

SEA - WR Paul Richardson cleared to practice
    Source: Twitter
Seattle Seahawks WR Paul Richardson (knee) was cleared to practice Monday, Oct. 26. Richardson has been recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Richardson was an interesting prospect coming out of Colorado last year. He's certainly talented, but knee injuries have slowed down his college and pro career. If he's back at full speed, then Richardson can be worked into this offense as a potential difference-maker.

GB - QB Aaron Rodgers struggling with deep ball

    Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers ranks 18th in the league in passing yards and has completed only three passes that have gone more than 30 yards downfield this year, according to ESPN Stats and Information.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The loss of Jordy Nelson has been really apparent in this category. The Packers aren't going deep as they instead choose to use the short-passing game to move the chains. Rodgers 2.66 second average time before pass ranks 3rd-slowest in the NFL.

CLE - CB Joe Haden still in concussion protocol

Source: The Chronicle-Telegram - Scott Petrak

Cleveland Browns CB Joe Haden (concussion, finger) has made some progress but is still going through the concussion protocol, according to head coach Mike Pettine.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Haden is a star when he's on the field. He's not going to get back to practice until he clears the league's concussion protocol. The Browns face the Cardinals in Week 8, and they could really use Haden's presence on the field.

PHI - WR Jordan Matthews has hand injury

    Source: NJ.com - Eliot Shorr-Parks

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews (hand) has been dealing with a hand injury for a month now, according to Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Matthews has been plagued by drops this year, and a hand injury would explain part of that problem. The other part? Sam Bradford is his quarterback. The two have yet to establish strong chemistry on the field.

DEN - WR Emmanuel Sanders will be full go

Source: The Denver Post - Troy E. Renck

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders (shoulder) will be full go Wednesday, Oct. 28, after practicing half of the scheduled time Monday, Oct. 26, according to head coach Gary Kubiak.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sanders is a favorite target of Peyton Manning, and he's on pace to at least equal the catches (101) that he had last year. Against a tough Packers defense, we'll still consider Sanders a low-end WR1 in Week 8.

GB - WR Davante Adams expected to play

    Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams (ankle) should be able to play in the Week 8 game against the Denver Broncos, according to head coach Mike McCarthy.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Adams may be available to play, but we're not expecting much from him due to the opponent. The team is likely to ease him back into action after dealing with this (obviously high) ankle sprain. Easing him in against Denver's ferocious defense is not the recipe for success.

PHI - RB Ryan Mathews dealing with groin injury

    Source: NFL.com - Jeremy Bergman

Philadelphia Eagles RB Ryan Mathews (groin) suffered a groin injury during the team's Week 7 game, which limited has snaps for the rest of the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mathews has looked better running the ball than DeMarco Murray in the Eagles offense, but now he's banged up...again. He's a talented veteran who is running harder than ever this season, but Mathews has an injury history that reads like Infinite Jest. Monitor his practice status when the Eagles return from their Week 8 bye.

PHI - Jason Peters should be ready after bye

    Source: NFL.com - Kevin Patra

Philadelphia Eagles OT Jason Peters (back) should be ready to play after the team's Week 8 bye, according to head coach Chip Kelly.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Peters had to be carted off the field on Sunday night against the Panthers with this back injury. It looked like an incredibly serious injury, but it sounds like he'll be back on the field the next time the Eagles play. Having Peters back would help boost the offense.

PHI - QB Sam Bradford keeping job

Source: NFL Network - Andrew Siciliano

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford will remain the starting quarterback for the Eagles. Head coach Chip Kelly said he is happy with the way Bradford has played.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

LOL. Happy with the way he's played? Kelly needs to expect more from his quarterback if he's actually happy with Bradford. In deeper leagues, it's time to add Mark Sanchez as a preemptive pickup.

McFadden the main man in Dallas now (until his next injury)

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Darren McFadden will start this week.

Joseph Randle is expected to miss time with an oblique injury and Christine Michael has played just nine snaps as a Cowboy. McFadden should start and dominate touches against Seattle. Even in a tough matchup, McFadden will be a solid RB2.

            Wednesday Update

PIT - QB Ben Roethlisberger on track to play

Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - Ed Bouchette

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) is on track to start in the Week 8 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, according to head coach Mike Tomlin.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is going to be a huge game coming up for both teams, and it just got even better as it looks like Roethlisberger will be back in action. Tomlin said the team is comfortable with where Roethlisberger is physically and does not expect his movement to be limited.

SD - TE Antonio Gates could miss multiple weeks

Source: The San Diego Union-Tribune - Michael Gehlken

San Diego Chargers TE Antonio Gates (knee) has foregone an MRI exam on the left medial collateral ligament sprain in his knee, and he's listening to his body on when he might be able to return to the field. His injury could keep him out several weeks, and he could undergo an MRI exam this week if he doesn't see any progress. 'I'm playing it by ear,' Gates said. 'I'll see how it feels on Wednesday, Thursday. If I still can't go, then I'm going to try to look at it to see what the root of the problem is, what really is going on. Right now, it's a feel thing. I know my body. (The athletic trainers) trust me to make the right choice.'

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

An MCL sprain usually takes about a month to come back from, depending on the severity. Fantasy owners need to have other options at the ready as it looks like Gates could be out for a few weeks. But watch this week as this feels far from settled.

HOU - Houston cuts QB Ryan Mallett

Source: Houston Chronicle - John McClain

Houston Texans QB Ryan Mallett was released Tuesday, Oct. 27.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Nobody...not even Mallett...should be surprised by this move. We're surprised it took until Tuesday for this decision to come down. Mallett has a big arm, but he lacks accuracy and leadership qualities. Word out of Houston is the locker room was not behind Mallett and many of his teammates did not like him. We'll see if another team wants to take a chance on his big arm.

NE - RB Dion Lewis limited again Tuesday

            Source: CSNNE.com - Phil Perry

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis (abdomen) was limited during a laid-back walkthrough practice Tuesday, Oct. 27.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Patriots play the Dolphins on Thursday night in Week 8. Lewis missed the game against the Jets in Week 7 with the idea that he could then get ready for this upcoming contest. His status for Week 8 is in question.

DAL - RB Darren McFadden has earned more touches

            Source: DallasCowboys.com - Nick Eatman

Dallas Cowboys RB Darren McFadden ran for 152 yards in Week 7 against the New York Giants, his fourth-highest single-game total of his career. Head coach Jason Garrett thought McFadden was outstanding and that he has earned the right to see more touches moving forward. 'Absolutely,' Garrett said. 'We will get back to work (Tuesday) and we will give him his opportunities and keep the whole thing competitive for everybody. But he has certainly earned some more touches.'

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A true feature back has emerged in Dallas, and McFadden is that guy. He's the first 100-yard rusher for the Cowboys this season, and McFadden should be the main man going forward....provided he can stay healthy. Joseph Randle is a bit banged up, so we could see Christine Michael as the primary backup behind McFadden.

SF - RB Carlos Hyde expected to play

Source: San Jose Mercury News - Cam Inman

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (foot) is expected to play in the Week 8 game against the St. Louis Rams, according to head coach Jim Tomsula.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hyde's foot is a problem to watch and a concern for fantasy owners looking to start him. If his injury gets worse, the team could start using more of Reggie Bush and rookie Mike Davis.

            ARI - Arizona running well

            Source: AZCardinals.com

Arizona Cardinals RBs Chris Johnson, Andre Ellington and David Johnson have helped Arizona achieve 110 rushing yards or more in six of their last seven games.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

They can thank Chris Johnson for their success on the ground in 2015. On the season, the Cardinals are averaging 125.6 rushing yards per game. They averaged 81.8 rushing yards per game last year.

NYG - DE Jason Pierre-Paul to seek roster exemption

            Source: NFL.com - Gregg Rosenthal

New York Giants DE Jason Pierre-Paul (finger, hand) will likely receive a roster exemption so that he begin practicing with the team this week. The Giants are comfortable with where Pierre-Paul is at physically after putting him through a physical this week.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A roster exemption would last for a maximum of two weeks and would allow him to get back into 'football shape.' His new one-year deal is expected to be prorated and heavy on incentives.

HOU - QB T.J. Yates signs

            Source: NFL.com - Gregg Rosenthal

Free-agent QB T.J. Yates (Falcons) signed an undisclosed deal with the Houston Texans Tuesday, Oct. 27.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This signing makes a lot of sense for the Texans as Yates has plenty of experience with the team. He will serve as the backup to QB Brian Hoyer for the rest of the season.

CHI - WR Kevin White unlikely to return this year

Source: Chicago Tribune - Dan Wiederer

Chicago Bears WR Kevin White (leg) is a little more than two months removed from surgery to fix a stress fracture in his left leg. He remains confident that he can become a force in the Bears offense and is holding out hope for a return this year, but it's more likely that he'll make his debut with the team in 2016. He is progressing in his rehab and is doing some running on an anti-gravity treadmill.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This really stinks. We were so looking forward to seeing White play for the Bears this season. We like Amari Cooper better as a prospect, but White is close in upside and ability. We'll have to wait until next season to see what he can do.

DET - Jim Bob Cooter to call plays

Source: Detroit Free Press - Carlos Monarrez

Detroit Lions new offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter will call the team's offensive plays moving forward, according to head coach Jim Caldwell. Caldwell is not concerned with Cooter's lack of experience as a coordinator. Cooter worked with Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning with the Broncos and Indianapolis Colts. Caldwell expects the Lions offensive scheme to change under Cooter, but QB Matthew Stafford isn't sure how exactly it would change. Cooter has a reputation as a great quarterbacks coach, though, with an ability to connect with his players. Cooter's work to improve Stafford's footwork was successful in 2014.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see if Cooter is the answer this team has been looking for. The offense needs to get back to basics and feature WR Calvin Johnson first and foremost. We'll also see if second-year TE Eric Ebron can get more involved as well.

SEA - RB Bryce Brown signs

            Source: ESPN - Adam Caplan

Free-agent RB Bryce Brown (Bills) signed with the Seattle Seahawks Tuesday, Oct. 27.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

An interesting signing for the Seahawks here. Brown is a talented runner who has bounced around the league, likely due to motivation issues. He'll need to prove that he can be focused, hang onto the rock and produce in practice if he wants his stay on the team to be more than a short-term stop.

JAX - RB T.J. Yeldon should see goal-line work

Source: The Florida Times-Union - Hays Carlyon

Jacksonville Jaguars RB T.J. Yeldon should start receiving goal-line carries moving forward, according to head coach Gus Bradley.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Those are high-quality carries that would boost Yeldon's fantasy value. Right now in most games we like the talented rookie as a low-end RB2 or flex play.

WAS - WR Jamison Crowder becoming a mainstay

            Source: NFL.com - Chris Wesseling

Washington Redskins WR Jamison Crowder played 82% of the offensive snaps in Week 7 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and is becoming a mainstay in the passing game, pushing WRs Ryan Grant and Andre Roberts down the depth chart.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners should have already picked up Crowder, but make sure to check your waiver wire to see if the talented rookie is still there. Crowder has good quickness and speed after the catch. It seems like he's earned the trust of the coaching staff, and he can help QB Kirk Cousins move the chains.

JAX - TE Julius Thomas has groin injury

Source: The Florida Times-Union - Hays Carlyon

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Julius Thomas (groin) is dealing with a mild groin injury.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Thomas is talented, but he has been banged up quite a bit during his pro career. So far this season he's battled this groin injury, a rib injury and a hand injury. He's a TE1 when healthy and on the field. The Jaguars have a bye in Week 8, and that will give Thomas some extra time to heal.

GB - WR Randall Cobb hampered by shoulder?

            Source: NFL.com - Elliot Harrison

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (shoulder) has 11.7 yards per catch this year, which is down from 14.1 last year, and he's been dealing with a shoulder injury that might be affecting him more than he'd like to admit.

            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cobb could have a rough day against the Broncos on Sunday night in Week 8. He'll likely be covered by CB Chris Harris Jr. in this game. Cobb is a WR2 for fantasy owners this week.

PIT - QB Michael Vick could be available

            Source: NFL.com - Kevin Patra

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Michael Vick (hamstring) has a chance to be available in Week 8 against the Cincinnati Bengals, according to head coach Mike Tomlin. However, QB Landry Jones is listed as the No. 2 quarterback behind QB Ben Roethlisberger on the depth chart.

Nobody should be surprised by this. Jones has looked better than Vick in limited playing time. Vick is still a little banged up, and the Steelers have to be ready in case something else happens to Roethlisberger.

BAL - WR Steve Smith moves up receiving list
            Source: NFL.com - Chris Wesseling
Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith is second in the league on plays of 20-plus yards this year, and he passed Henry Ellard and Indianapolis Colts WR Andre Johnson for 11th place on the all-time list for receiving yards in Week 7 Monday, Oct. 26. Smith has 18,292 all-purpose yards in his career, which puts him behind only Jerry Rice and Tim Brown.
            [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
It's a shame that we won't see Smith past this year. It's also a shame that it looks like we won't see him in the postseason either. Smith is fun to watch, so enjoy it while you can football fans.

NE - RB Dion Lewis listed as questionable

                  Source: Patriots.com

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis (abdomen) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 28, and is listed as questionable for the Week 8 game against the Miami Dolphins Thursday, Oct. 29.

                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lewis was out last week and might be limited this week if he still has abdomen pain. We see him as a low-end RB2 but with an early week game we're also a bit leery. Keep a weather eye on the reports Thursday and have someone else handy in case he's a late inactive.

DAL - WR Dez Bryant limited Wednesday

                  Source: NFL.com - Marc Sessler

Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant (foot) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 28. It was Bryant's first practice in more than six weeks.

                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We aren't quite giddy about this news yet, but this is a good sign nonetheless. We consider him a solid WR3 right now, especially with Matt Cassel throwing him the ball and no real solid indication that Bryant is 100 percent. The upside could be worth the risk for him though.

PIT - QB Ben Roethlisberger practices in full

                  Source: Steelers.com

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 28.

                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Steelers could really use Roethlisberger back under center after the Landry Jones debacle of last weekend. We're still not totally on board with Roethlisberger this week, especially against a tough Cincinnati defense. We see him as a low-end QB2 this weekend.

TB - WR Vincent Jackson not expected to play Sunday

                  Source: NFL.com - Ian Rapoport

WR Vincent Jackson, who injured his knee last Sunday, is not expected to play this week, source says.

                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rapoport also says that the team expects Jackson to be out multiple weeks, but that the injury isn't career ending. Of course, with Mike Evans healthy and coming on, Jackson has been relatively quiet so far this season. Where this could have an impact is tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins, who has been hurt since Week 2. Prior to that it seemed like he and rookie Jameis Winston had good chemistry. So if you own Seferian-Jenkins, keep an eye on this.

SD - TE Antonio Gates not practicing

Source: The San Diego Union-Tribune - Tom Krasovic

San Diego Chargers TE Antonio Gates (knee) is not practicing Wednesday, Oct. 28, and hasn't practiced at all since spraining the medial collateral ligament in his knee against the Green Bay Packers in Week 6.

                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Could be another game time decision this week, so we repeat the advice from last time out—if he hasn't practiced fully by Friday, look elsewhere. Even if he plays, Ladarius Green could be a nice play anyway. As it stands, Green is a very good TE2 and Gates is a TE1. However, if Gates isn't available, Green could be a solid low-end TE1 as well.

CLE - QB Josh McCown not practicing

                  Source: NFL.com - Dan Hanzus

Cleveland Browns QB Josh McCown (shoulder) is not taking part in practice Wednesday, Oct. 28, but it's not unexpected, with head coach Mike Pettine saying McCown is 'truly day-to-day' as he works his way through the pain. QB Johnny Manziel took the first-team repetitions in practice as he prepares for another potential start.

                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Johnny Manziel could get the start this weekend but that may depend upon whether he gets suspended if the investigation into his domestic incident is truly finished this week. Neither quarterback is better than a shaky QB2 against a tough Arizona defense.

TB - TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins could return

                  Source: ESPN.com - Andrew Astleford

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins (shoulder) could return to action in Week 8 against the Atlanta Falcons. Head coach Lovie Smith said Monday, Oct. 26, that he's looking forward to having his starting tight end back. Seferian-Jenkins has missed the last four games.

                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With the reports via NFL.com's Ian Rapoport that Vincent Jackson is out, this could be a huge opportunity for Seferian-Jenkins if he is healthy. Before he got hurt in Week 2, he showed a great connection with rookie Jameis Winston. If he's ready to go, he could be a sneaky play in fantasy this week and a dirt-cheap option in DFS. We'll wait for an official clearance before we get too excited though.

HOU - RB Alfred Blue part of committee?

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans RB Alfred Blue (toe) is feeling better after battling a toe injury, and he is likely to lead a committee-based approach at running back with RB Chris Polk and RB Jonathan Grimes in the wake of the season-ending injury to Arian Foster (Achilles').

                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Blue was not great the first time out, and we see him as no more than an uninspiring RB3 this week. Polk is an RB4 with upside as he has shown a few more flashes than Blue, but that's not a high bar and we wouldn't want to count on him either. Grimes is no better than an ER5. This is a mess we'd stay away from unless you are desperate, even against the Tennessee Titans.

HOU - RB Chris Polk puts in full practice

                  Source: NFL

Houston Texans RB Chris Polk (knee) was a full participant in practice Wednesday, Oct. 28.

                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Texans backfield is a muddled mess, and Polk's right in the middle of it. He's a hail-mary kind of play as an RB4, with some upside, but not enough to really feel comfortable with. Alfred Blue should get the bulk of the work and is an RB3, but he wasn't all that spectacular when he got the carries the first time Arian Foster was out. We're not exactly enthusiastic about the backfield here and would avoid it for the most part. There are much better options out there.

HOU - WR Cecil Shorts still sidelined

                  Source: NFL

                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Shorts is no better than a WR7 anyway. When it comes to Houston, if it isn't DeAndre Hopkins (a sure-fire WR1), we aren't very interested. Nate Washington has some upside as a WR4 flex play, but Hopkins is the only reliable thing in the offense right now.

KC - Three KC starters have full practice

                  Source: NFL

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (groin), QB Alex Smith (thumb) and RB Charcandrick West (pectoral) all put in full practices Wednesday, Oct. 28.

                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

All three should play. Alex Smith actually has QB1 potential this week against Detroit, as the secondary play there has been shaky. We always like Kelce and he has TE1 potential. After a shaky day against Minnesota, West bounced back against Pittsburgh and could do well against Detroit, though the front line of that defense was tough on Adrian Peterson last week. We think West can be a borderline RB1/RB2 play as the team will feed him carries.

DET - RB Joique Bell a full participant

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (ankle) practiced in full Wednesday, Oct. 28.

                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bell has been a non-factor in this offense since Ameer Abdullah emerged, and is no better than an RB5. Abdullah isn't all that much better as he is a borderline RB3/RB4 and Theo Riddick sits between them as an RB4/RB5. It's a mess in Detroit and we don't love the ground game right now, even with a new offensive coordinator in Joe Bob Cooter.

                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams has still yet to show his upside, so we'd rather roll with Crockett Gilmore as a TE2. Williams is still just a TE4.

                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Johnson is mired in an RBBC and is no better than an RB4 right now. He has the upside to be more but that doesn't seem to be in the cards at this point.

SD - RB Melvin Gordon takes part in practice

                  Source: Chargers.com

                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gordon was sidelined most of last week and it might have been in part because of this injury, but it was also because he hasn't been very good lately. This offensive line is a problem and Gordon has struggled to overcome it. He's no more than an RB4 right now, with Danny Woodhead a great RB3 because of his receiving yards (and an upside RB2 in PPR leagues because of that).

TEN - QB Marcus Mariota limited in practice

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (knee) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 28, after he missed the Week 7 game. The Titans are hoping Mariota can return to face the Houston Texans in Week 8. QB Zach Mettenberger would start his second straight game if Mariota cannot play.

                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mettenberger was rough to watch last week so the Titans may push a little harder than they might have otherwise to have Mariota play. At this point, Mariota wouldn't be more than a borderline QB2/QB3.

KC - WR Jeremy Maclin on track

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (concussion) is set for a full practice Wednesday, Oct. 28, which would put him on course to play in Week 8 against the Detroit Lions in London.

                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is good news but Maclin's ceiling is lower than you'd hope because Alex Smith and the offense is misfiring so badly. We like him as a borderline WR2/WR3.

                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If he plays, Sanders is a solid WR2 with some upside. What holds him (and Demaryius Thomas as a higher end WR2) back is the disjointed nature of the offense. We know he'll get targets but they quality and amount are less than what you'd expect.

Keep an eye on this as Brown should put up solid WR3 numbers against Cleveland if he's able to play. He's a consistent play at that level and has some upside.

GB - RB Eddie Lacy feeling much better

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy (ankle) looked good during his individual workouts Monday, Oct. 26, and head coach Mike McCarthy doesn't think Lacy's injury is affecting him anymore.

                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That extra week off helped, but his matchup could be better. Denver's defense is nasty, which makes Lacy no better than a high-end RB3. He has some great upside though and if he's healthy he will see some much better matchups over the next few weeks.

                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This could help Davante Adams a bit as Montgomery had made some nice inroads into holding that No. 3 gig in Green Bay. Adams could be a WR5/WR6 if Montgomery is out, but has his own injury issues as well.

Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams (ankle) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Oct. 28.

                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

By the time Adams returns, he is going to have a heck of a time wresting the No. 3 job from Ty Montgomery. It's Randall Cobb as a WR2, James Jones (all he does is score touchdowns!) as a WR4 with upside and then Montgomery as a long shot WR8 (Monty also being hurt). Adams has the ability to be more—we could see him as a WR6—but until we know he is cleared, we have to say avoid him. Watch practice the next few days though and we'll have a better idea of his status.

                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

After a hot start, Hankerson reverted back to what he was in Washington—uninteresting and unstartable. He left last week's game with a hamstring injury that he re-aggravated. It appears as if it still bothers him and considering how shaky he was in Week 6 and 7, we'd avoid him.

                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Miller has been disappointing this season, in part because Ben Roethlisberger has been hurt. If his quarterback returns, we could see Miller back in the TE2 range but right now, he's no more than a TE3.

Green Bay Packers RB James Starks (hip) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 28.

                  [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

As long as Lacy is around, Starks' impact is limited. We know he went off time out, but Lacy was clearly still banged up and has now had an extra week to mend. Denver is a tough matchup for both and with both ailing, keep your expectations checked. Consider Lacy a banged up RB3 and Starks no better than a risky RB4 with some upside.

DAL - WR Dez Bryant limited Thursday

                          Source: NFL

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant (foot) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 29.

                          [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bryant is a solid WR2 with upside this week against Seattle even with Matt Cassel throwing him the ball.

Source: The San Diego Union-Tribune - Michael Gehlken

San Diego Chargers TE Antonio Gates (knee) missed practice for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 29.

                          [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It seems like a good week to start Ladarius Green again and we are projecting him to have TE1 numbers against Baltimore. He's a steal in daily fantasy as well.

PIT - No doubts about Roethlisberger

Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - Ed Bouchette

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) has no doubt that he will start in Week 8 against the Cincinnati Bengals. He's had 'no issues' with his knee this week.

                          [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is a critical division game for both teams, and we expect the presence of Ben Roethlisberger to be a huge boost to the spirits of the Steelers, who survived while he was out. Roethlisberger has QB1 potential this week even against the Bengals defense.

BAL - WR Steve Smith added to injury report

                          Source: WNST

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith (knee) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 29. It was reported that Smith tweaked his knee on a sideline route during practice.

                          [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's not great news for owners as Smith has been ridiculous most of this season. That said, he is just getting some rest to overcome it and will definitely "ice up son" to get out there in a critical game against San Diego. With no Eric Weddle and a shaky secondary, we think Smith could be a WR2.

CLE - No decision on QB Johnny Manziel

                          Source: ESPN.com - Pat McManamon

Cleveland Browns QB Johnny Manziel's situation in an ongoing NFL investigation centering around a driving incident Oct. 12 has not been finalized yet, and the Browns are expecting to receive a ruling from the league soon. Manziel is unlikely to be disciplined by the league, but the investigation continues.

                          [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Manziel has been taking first team reps this week so it appears that the team expects to have him and be able to use him. Whether it's McCown or Manziel, this is a bad matchup and they are no better than a QB3.

Source: Fort Worth Star-Telegram - Charean Williams

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle (oblique) will not play Sunday, Nov. 1, due to an oblique strain.

                          [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Or suspension. Whichever. Lock onto Darren McFadden as a solid RB2 against the Seattle defense, which has allowed 305 yards and four touchdowns on the ground over the last three weeks.

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Updating earlier reports, Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle is facing a one- or two-game suspension for violating the personal conduct policy.

                          [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This could explain why he left the facility. This leaves Darren McFadden in full control as the No. 1 back in Dallas for as long as he is healthy. McFadden is a solid RB2 even against Seattle, who has allowed plenty of yards over the last few weeks.

TB - TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins not being rushed

                          Source: PewterReport.com - Eric Horchy

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins (shoulder) remains uncertain for the Week 8 game against the Atlanta Falcons. TEs Cameron Brate, Brandon Myers and Luke Stocker has combined for just 11 catches, 95 yards and zero touchdowns on 16 targets in Seferian-Jenkins' absence. However, the Bucs aren't rushing Seferian-Jenkins back into action if he's not ready.

                          [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If he plays he will be a lightly owned, productive TE1 but be prepared for him not to suit up and have an alternative.

TB - No WR Vincent Jackson Thursday

                          Source: NFL

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson (knee) missed his second straight practice Thursday, Oct. 29.

                          [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jackson is unlikely to play which means, if he's healthy, Austin Seferian-Jenkins could be a solid play at tight end as he and Jameis Winston had good chemistry before the tight end was hurt in Week 2. Seferian-Jenkins could have TE1 upside.

New York Jets RB Chris Ivory (hamstring) practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 29.

                          [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ivory is going to be fine this weekend and should see a ton of carries against Oakland. We see him as a good RB2 play.

PIT - TE Heath Miller has full practice

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Heath Miller (non-injury) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 29.

                          [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Miller has been a non-factor with Ben Roethlisberger out, but his return should help. That said, we'll believe it when we see it, so don't trot him out there yet and if you have to, expect no more than TE3 numbers.

San Diego Chargers RB Melvin Gordon (ankle) practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 29.

                          [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're still not sold on Gordon, even if he is fully practicing. He's no more than an RB4. We do like Danny Woodhead as a solid RB2/RB3 play, especially in point per reception leagues.

Denver Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders (shoulder) was limited in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 29.

The injury is a little concern but we expect him to go this weekend against Green Bay and put up WR3 numbers. He can do more, of course, but this offense is shaky still and limits him.

DET - RB Joique Bell limited Thursday

                          Source: DetroitLions.com

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (ankle) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 29.

                          [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bell is no more than a flex or RB3 play, though we don't exactly know what to expect from Jim Bob Cooter's new offense. All you can do is start one of the backs here (Ameer Abdullah is a RB4 as is Theo Riddick) and hope for the best. We'd suggest that not be your choice unless you are desperate.

GB - WR Ty Montgomery sits out of practice

                          Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers WR Ty Montgomery (ankle) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 29.

                          [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Enter Davante Adams, who should pick up where Montgomery leaves off. Adams is no more than a WR5 right now, though he has upside due to attention that should go to Randall Cobb. That said, if Chris Harris dips towards Cobb, Aqib Talib is still there to cover Adams, hence the lower ranking.

MIN - RB Adrian Peterson misses practice

Source: Minneapolis Star Tribune - Mark Craig

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (finger, hip, ankle) did not practice for a second straight day Thursday, Oct. 29.

                          [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is a little concerning but the Vikings know what they have in Peterson and want him—need him—to be healthy. He should go this weekend in a good matchup against the Bears and we expect RB1 production from him. Keep it locked here in case he doesn't go Friday in practice as well and we'll keep you steered right.

Houston Texans RB Chris Polk (knee) was a full participant in practice again Thursday, Oct. 29.

                          [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The backfield for Houston is such a mess that we cannot see risking having anyone from it. Polk is an RB4, while starter Alfred Blue is an RB3. It is a shaky group and we would use them only as flex plays, especially as Blue struggled when he was starter early in the season.

We don't expect him to play this weekend, which bumps Nate Washington up into a decent WR4 play across from DeAndre Hopkins.

Source: New York Daily News - Manish Mehta

New York Jets RB Stevan Ridley (knee) looks better in practice this week than he did last week, according to offensive coordinator Chan Gailey. 'He's running with more confidence,' Gailey said.

                          [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is still Chris Ivory's team and we don't expect anyone to have a significant amount of carries as long as Ivory can play. He's been a bit banged up, so someone's roll could increase - Zac Stacy did see seven carries against the Patriots - but until that happens, Ivory is the most steady option in the backfield. He'll be a solid RB2 this week against the Oakland Raiders.

Source: The Tennessean - John Glennon

Tennessee Titans RB Antonio Andrews appears to have switched roles with RB Bishop Sankey after Sankey didn't receive a carry in Week 7, according to The Tennessean's John Glennon. Andrews appears to be in line for more carries in Week 8 after rushing 10 times for 57 yards last week.

                          [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Andrews represents no more than a flex play, sitting as an unsteady RB3 this week against Houston. Going forward, this could be a sign that the moment David Cobb is back from injury, he could see significant carries.

Cowboys VP Stephen Jones said Dez Bryant (questionable, foot) will likely play Sunday as long as he doesn't have a setback.

It confirms NFL Network's report that Bryant is expected to return. Bryant has matchup concerns against Seattle with Matt Cassel starting, but will be a top-25 receiver play if active.

MIA - DE Cameron Wake to IR

Miami Dolphins DE Cameron Wake (Achilles') was placed on Reserve/Injured Saturday, Oct. 31.

It was bad enough the Dolphins got their you-know-what kicked on Thursday night by the Patriots. Now, the defense will move forward without one of their best players. Entering the final year of his deal in 2016, Wake is owed $9.8 million by the Dolphins next season. It will be something to watch this offseason as that is a lot of money for a player coming off this devastating injury.

San Francisco 49ers RB Jarryd Hayne was cut Saturday, Oct. 31. RB Kendall Gaskins was signed from the practice squad.

The rugby star made a splash in camp and the preseason, but he failed to capture any sort of fire during the regular season. They could always try to get him back on the practice squad if he clears waivers. Internationally, there was a lot of interest in Hayne...but fantasy owners weren't dialed in because he has little value from the fantasy perspective.

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Green Bay Packers CB Damarious Randall (ankle) and DT B.J. Raji (groin) were upgraded to probable for Week 8 against the Denver Broncos.

The Packers will need to be near full strength to battle the Broncos on Sunday night. We have a feeling this will be a close game that could come down to a late field goal.

Green Bay Packers WR Ty Montgomery (ankle) was downgraded from questionable to doubtful for Week 8 Saturday, Oct. 31.

Without Montgomery, we could see more from Davante Adams. The matchup against the Broncos is tough, but Adams could get a few catches and some yards as he'll likely be matched up against nickel corner Bradley Roby...and Roby has been struggling at times this year. Remember Vikings WR Stefon Diggs breakout game? That came against Roby. Adams is an interesting "what the heck" flex in this tough matchup on Sunday night.

SEA - WR Paul Richardson back after bye?

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Seattle Seahawks WR Paul Richardson (knee) may not be activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list before the deadline Saturday, Oct. 31. If not, the Seahawks could very well activate him after their Week 9 bye.

                                                    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Richardson had a ton of talent in college at Colorado, but he also battled multiple knee problems in Boulder. That injury bug has followed him to the pros. If Richardson is back to full strength and as explosive as he used to be, then the Seahawks have an up-and-coming weapon here. Dynasty owners should be adding him or at least monitoring his comeback closely.

Indianapolis Colts WR Phillip Dorsett (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 8 against the Carolina Panthers.

It's going to be tough against the Panthers on Monday night. Dorsett is a speedy rookie who can take the top off the defense. Without him on the field, we could see more targets for guys like Donte Moncrief and Andre Johnson.

Detroit Lions LB DeAndre Levy (hip) is doubtful to return this season, in the opinion of Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.

The Lions are 1-6, and they need to be concerned with the long-term health of Levy. He missed the first month of the season with this hip problem, but Levy returned to the field in Week 5....for only 17 snaps before re-aggravating the injury. Now, Levy just needs to concern himself with healing the proper way and not rushing back.

PIT - TE Heath Miller to be more involved?

                                                    Source: USA TODAY Sports

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Heath Miller could be more involved in the offense as players and coaches have spoken openly about doing so.

With Ben Roethlisberger back in action, it's a boost for the entire offense. Miller is one of Roethlisberger's favorite targets, and we could see an uptick in production from the veteran. We like Miller as a high-end TE2 with his quarterback back.

Cincinnati Bengals LB Vontaze Burfict (knee) will be able to play against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 8.

Getting Burfict back will help out the run defense. Burfict arrives at the ball-carrier with natural violence, and he does a good job of scraping and flowing to the play. We'll see if they ease him back in or if Burfict gets his normal amount of snaps on Sunday.

St. Louis Rams DE Chris Long (knee) has been ruled out for the Week 8 game against the San Francisco 49ers and is expected to miss several more weeks because of his knee injury.

The Rams defense is damn good, but with Long they'd be even better. William Hayes will continue to play more with Long out, although Hayes is listed as questionable with a thigh injury.

Seattle Seahawks CB Richard Sherman is expected to shadow Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant (foot) if he is active for the team's Week 8 game.

Sherman will usually just stay on his side of the field. However, the Cowboys could move Bryant around and get him away from Sherman. It sounds like the Seahawks are open to moving Sherman around as well. This will be a fun matchup to watch on Sunday.

Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington is expected to have a bigger role in the offense in the Week 8 game against the Cleveland Browns, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

In Week 1, Ellington played 39 snaps as the team's featured back. Ellington was on the field for 18 offensive snaps in Week 7 as a part of their three-headed RBBC. He's incredibly talented, but with Chris Johnson running well as the starter we can only recommend Ellington as a "what the heck" flex.

The Bengals decided to stick with Jeremy Hill for most of this game. Bernard looked as explosive as ever and was an ankle tackle away from a score, but he wasn't a major part of the offense. The Browns are weak against the run, so Bernard's owners might see more Hill on Thursday night too.

Austin is benefiting from defenses compressing towards the box to stop Gurley. His speed to the edge and deep will create plays for as long as Gurley is doing his thing. Next week Austin will be worth a flex look against the Vikings.

Gurley was quiet early and then busted a 71-yard touchdown run that was good enough for the Rams to win this week and to fuel lineups that are losing running backs every week. Minnesota will attempt to slow down Gurley on his 125+ yard four-game streak.

Palmer has been healthy and piloting a dangerous offense, which should have the best wide receiver trio in the league and a hyperaggressive approach. Consider him a strong QB1 and top five option.

Smith was able to have a nice fantasy day against a Lions team that basically airmailed it in across the pond. He goes into the bye on a high note, but Smith is still just an emergency play.

Bridgewater badly missed Mike Wallace open deep twice and was bailed out by Charles Johnson on the play that set up the game-winning field goal, but he did enough on this afternoon, albeit not for his fantasy owners. Next week will be a stiff test against the Rams pass rush in a matchup that could have playoff tiebreaker implications down the line.

Diggs was able to wheel away from the corner covering him and wove through traffic for a long catch and run touchdown. He's the clear #1 target heading into a matchup against the Rams.

Sankey has gone from anointed one in the Titans backfield to fighting for his spot on the roster once David Cobb is back. Teams are loathe to give up on second round picks after only two years, so Sankey should stick around with a new regime likely coming that could attempt to salvage his raw tools and talent.
