Lol doesn't matter what my name is..botched report + lawyers chomping at the bit who hate Goodell = reduced suspension

You can read between the lines though..the NFL has all their cards on the table..and it's in the form of a report that leaves more questions than answers, unless you are thinking the wells report is the most airtight piece of reporting you've ever read..

Will be one of the first moves to him getting fired IMO.
Patriots/Brady have to be careful how hard they push back. The further they go, the more they'll come under scrutiny.

The NFL is sitting in the crosshairs on this one. A potential lawsuit would be devastating. This was clearly a sting operation. The story about the Indy player catching an interception and then thinking that the ball felt deflated has been exposed as a lie. Indy was intent on investigating balls from the get go. They were probably prodded by Harbaugh and the Ravens who were still fuming about being outsmarted by player substitutions the week before. Wells admits in his report that the Colts had called the NFL offices the previous week with psi suspicions. Still the NFL didn't notify the Patriots, didn't mark down the pre-game measurements, supposedly allowed the balls out of their sight for 90 seconds, allowed the first half to be played with potentially suspicious balls, used 2 different measuring devices (one of which exonerated the Patriots) at halftime, measured only 4 of the 12 Indy balls even though 3 of theirs were also underinflated, purposefully leaked misleading information immediately after the game, etc etc etc. In a court of law, Brady's phone records could be subpeoned but so, too could anyone from the NFL offices.
The NFL home office is dominated by ex-Jets and ex-Giants staffers who still hold a grudge against Belichek because he shunned the Jets , then took one of their whipping boy rivals and turned it into the most successful franchise in the league. As for the Giants, my guess is that Parcells badmouthed the Pats to no end because he butted heads with Mrs. Kraft. History shows that Myra was right, as the main point of contention was she was against employing domestic violence abusers as players and Parcells thought she should mind her own business. When Parcells didn't get his way he emotionally quit on the team the week before the Super Bowl. The Pats lost to the Packers and peroxide boy took the next flight out of town, like a spoiled little brat.
Granted the Patriots benefited greatly by the infamous Tuck Rule and Raider fans are still rightfully seething, but that was an actual rule (since changed) and was theoretically called correctly. Since then the Patriots have been gang raped by the refs and league offices and their winning despite all this is a testament to incredible coaching, not cheating.
Hate the Patriots all you want but do so realizing that Goodell is totally playing to the crowd on this one. He's fanning the flames and then stepping in as if he's the voice of reason. The guy is doing anything he can to stay in power and keep getting that $40 million a year. The easiest target for him are the Patriots.

On appeals they should allow suspension to be increased

                Would make them think twice

If that was allowed I would increase the suspension for the lame ass excuses their lawyers are coming up with.

As the guys at ESPN would say......CMON MAN !!

The Wells report relies heavily on text messages between two low-level Patriots employees, John Jastremski and Jim McNally, which Wells says buttressed other conclusions he drew about the facts. The Patriots contend the texts, including one in which McNally refers to himself as the “deflator,” were taken out of context.

It argues that “deflator” referred to McNally’s desire to lose weight, whereas Jastremski was the “inflater,” looking to gain weight. While this may serve as humorous fodder for skeptics and radio hosts, it may also provide an alternate theory intended to produce reasonable doubt in some form of adjudication.

As for McNally’s joking threat to expose Jastremski to ESPN, that was said to be over Jastremski’s giving McNally sneakers, against team policy.

Could backfire in Brady's face. If it goes to court, the NFL can get there hands on tommy's phone records that he was so defiant about turning over voluntarily.

You know what? I wonder if Tommy should get a new anonymous phone like Tony Saprano??? How big of a pissing match could this turn into?

I would like to see the Patriots themselves appeal their fine. And I mean come in big time with some kind of countersuit crap and subjective prosecution defense like "have you ever checked anybody else's balls"? LOL Do other teams have their balls shrink up in the cold?

You must not realize what Jeffrey Kessler has done then. He's already beat the NFL several times on behalf of players, also beat the NBA on behalf of Latrell Sprewell.

Whatever the Pats/Brady want to get out of this appeal, they will get. Who knows exactly what that is, but the NFL left itself wide open to this sort of action with the way they arbitrarily dole out punishments to players. It should be a cakewalk for Kessler to get Brady down to two games minimally.

                                      It ain't happening.

The evidence that he was involved is simply too convincing. The situation before the arbitrator is this: Brady did it; he was caught; he tried to cover it up; and he lied about it. That's plenty for a 4 game suspension.

Roger Goodell to hear Tom Brady's appeal of Deflategate suspension

                                        9m - NFL

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has elected to preside over the appeal of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's suspension, rejecting the NFLPA's request that an independent arbitrator hear the case.
"Commissioner Goodell will hear the appeal of Tom Brady's suspension in accordance with the process agreed upon with the NFL Players Association in the 2011 collective bargaining agreement," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said in a statement Thursday night.
NFLPA officials declined immediate comment Thursday night.

                                        • Munson: NFLPA, Brady can't win appeal

The evidence gathered in the NFL's Deflategate investigation is clear and convincing, and Tom Brady and the NFLPA have no real shot in winning their appeal.

The union filed a formal appeal on Brady's behalf on Thursday afternoon. Brady is contesting his four-game suspension in relation to Deflategate.
News of Goodell's decision was earlier reported by Bleacher Report and ESPN's Ed Werder.
Goodell hired Ted Wells to investigate Brady and the Patriots, and deferred the choice of punishment to NFL executive vice president Troy Vincent. Wells' findings led Vincent to suspend Brady for the first four games of the upcoming season.
In addition, Vincent handed down penalties to the team which will cost the the Patriots two draft picks, including a first-rounder in 2016, and $1 million. The Patriots have until May 21 to file an appeal of their penalties.
The 243-page report concluded it was "more probable than not" that Brady was aware of the planned deflation of Patriots game balls in the AFC Championship Game.
Wells himself defended his findings earlier this week in the face of what he called "ridiculous" allegations that questioned his independence from the league office and whether or not the Patriots were victims of a witch hunt.
On Thursday, prior to the filing of Brady's appeal, the Patriots attempted to poke holes in Wells' report by launching a website that directly challenges some of the findings.

This may guarantee that suspension will not be completely overturned. I am sticking to my original prediction of two games.

Could be Goodell's last hurrah. If Kraft decides to put it out there behind scenes that Pats will name names of all the things other teams do that violate rules, other owners will push for leniency on this and push commish out. He does work for the owners.

The letter closes by notifying Vincent and Goodell that they will be called as witnesses.

Please be advised that the NFLPA and Mr. Brady intend to call both you [Vincent] and Commissioner Goodell as essential witnesses in the proceeding. You both will be called upon to testify about, among other things, the circumstances surrounding the purported delegation of disciplinary authority from Commissioner Goodell to you in this matter and the factual basis for that purported delegation. You also will both be required to testify about when you became aware of the Colts’ complaints about ball deflation and what decisions and steps were thereafter taken to set up what may have been a “sting operation” to try to implicate the Patriots and Mr. Brady. The latter conduct would present an additional ground for setting aside the discipline imposed.

Further, your personal involvement in the game-day events surrounding this matter render you inherently biased in any disciplinary determination (see, e.g., Report at 64-72). All of these facts will require your testimony at the hearing.

Patriots are now asking Goodell to recuse himself since he's a witness. Unreal. Feel like I'm watching an old episode of Law & Order.
