Report: Buccaneers Co-Owner Wary of Winston

It has been generally assumed that Winston is going number one to the Bucs and he still very well might. But there is some more scrutinizing going on.


Citing a league source "familiar with the inner workings of the Buccaneers," Yahoo's Charles Robinson reports Bucs co-owner Darcie Glazer Kassewitz "has raised some internal questions" about the community relations impact of selecting Florida State QB Jameis Winston.

Bucs GM Jason Licht and coach Lovie Smith seem sold on Winston, but Robinson reports they "won't have the final say." Kassewitz is the daughter of late Bucs owner Malcolm Glazer. Robinson calls Kassewitz "one of the voices in the Bucs' front office whose opinion could influence the pick," and someone who will be examining Winston's off-field history, which is known to be a bit checkered.

to be a great NFL QB you have to have discipline and dedication. from what i've seen from winston is that he has gotten by on raw talent. don't think he is worth a 1st round pick to be honest.

Buccaneers have so many holes it would benefit them more just to trade the pick, instead of potentially setting the franchise back 5 years, when this kid decides to partake into another digression. NFL is going to be tougher on penalties after the Ray Rice incident last year. The talent is there, but I don't know if the brain is though.

as a fellow bucs fan I have to disagree with you here. Jameis Wil be a much better pro than mariota IMO. I am a little biased because I am all FSU as well.

I see the point, I disagree but really it depends where he ends up. Love to see Marcus in Philly . As for Winston his biggest issue on field is cutting down on interceptions. Off the field, lets hope he got all the stupid stuff out of way

I really wish mariota well..I really hope he doesn't end up like RG3. I am not sure either him or jameis can single handedly save the bucs anyway

whoever they draft is in for a long season. As was mentioned they have so many needs they'd be better off trading that pick

Mariotta just seems to have a slightly better head about him as far as not getting upset/flustered. Much like the first part of the season in Eugene, he'll have to deal with taking a ton of hits from a lacking O-line but just think, at least first two years, he'd make out better than Winston. The whole organization has been shitt for years now though, kills me.
