The comment I was alluding to took place in the preseason, unsolicited from any reporter. Marshall was touting Cutler as a league MVP candidate. This was not some perfunctory appraisal amongst comrades, merely showing goodwill. Marshall went out on a limb and said something to the effect of Cutler having a breakout season and vying for MVP accolades, and he did so with utmost sincerity.
So yeah, I think it's safe to say he whiffed on that one.
Didn't Marshall make all kinds of "guarantees" throughout the years, most of them flops? He'd fit right in here on SBR.
