Schlereth is really heated up about this. He makes very good points though. Its just a money making machine. All about how they are viewed and don't lose advertisers or ticket sales.

Benji from howard stern was funny during the press conference though

Tripping and falling onto the street as a bus is about to rumble by is not the same as being thrown under a bus.

By taking a shot at Goodell, they're really taking a shot at the owners. Goodell is just a puppet for ownership.

What else do they want the NFL to do? They already have 4 cob webbedy bags heading a domestic violence team. They're about to find Out what several college teams already now, you put in tougher conduct rules and more kids get busted, much makes you look even worse. You really thinking firing Goodell now will help?

he gets $40 million for being a puppet. he would never step down no matter what. if fans stopped going to the games because he didn't step down they maybe he would be forced to. that isn't happening because nobody really cares about much these days, no principles no nothing. back to watching and gambling on games regardless of anything else. under the rug and forgotten. it's all about the money.

Mark Schlereth is a hypocritical blowhard. Listen very closely to the broadcast and you will hear that Schlereth blames the problems in the NFL on THE SALARY CAP, complaining that the young ball players of today do not have any veteran leadership in the locker room to help them gain insight on how to act both on and off the field. While factual. is that really the main reason that the young players of today act like immature animals? There are more reasons equally factual in nature why players act the way they act.

The stance ESPN has taken throughout these episodes of player violence and crime off the field involves using flawed personalities (Ray Lewis and Cris Carter to name a few) to passionately whine about how the players are victims of their environment, trying to preserve the careers of these individuals who provide the public the entertainment they crave. Why? Maintaining their TV ratings for sure, but how about trying to verbalize long-silent guilt about all of the things athletes in the past did and maintained their lofty status both in the eyes of the fans and team ownership. ESPN obtains the vehicle, the gasoline to power it and then sounds like they do not want to pay the bills associated with the luxuries they have. Sounds like society in general, huh?

What's the big deal? So Ray Rice hit his wife... yeah it sucks but you wouldn't get fired from your job for that and never able to find another. Give these guys suspensions + retrain them on how to not beat women/kids/people.

troutsky, all fine and good, but too little too late for Goodell. He had plenty of time to sew this up and didn't.

I don't see it as Goodell's problem at all. It's everyone elses for thinking that NFL players are role models.

He's done an okay job and if Selig can make it through the MLB steroid scandal then he's not going to be outed because 2 star players are thugs. I think some of these standards are ridiculous... taking away a person's livelihood because of a mistake. MAYBE if they are convicted but just being accused is getting people axed.

he gets $40 million for being a puppet. he would never step down no matter what. if fans stopped going to the games because he didn't step down they maybe he would be forced to. that isn't happening because nobody really cares about much these days, no principles no nothing. back to watching and gambling on games regardless of anything else. under the rug and forgotten. it's all about the money.
this sums up the f*cking fiasco that is the NFL (especially the last few weeks) is domestic abuse horrible? absolutely but are these recent stories re: players abusing women or spanking their kids really enough for more than 1-3% of the total number of NFL fans across the world to honestly give 2 sh*ts....no...its not, put a few puppets on camera to "talk about the drastic changes that will take place" or "gee we're so sorry we did this or did that" and 6-8 weeks later it's business as usual.

not to sound like an a**hole with no emotion but its sure as sh*t gonna take a hell of a lot more than smacking a women or spanking a child to derail a multi BILLION dollar worldwide business.
