Cardinals RB Andre Ellington Gets MRI on his Foot
He is Questionable for Week 1, results should be known on Friday. He was (is?) in line for a very heavy workload this season despite being rather small and fragile.

XTRA 910 Arizona's Mike Jurecki reports Andre Ellington underwent an MRI on his left foot Thursday.

Per Jurecki, Ellington had been "dealing with some discomfort" over the past week, and aggravated the injury in Thursday's practice. The situation has the makings of a Week 1 nightmare, but there's no point in panicking until the Cardinals reveal Ellington's MRI results. His status will be updated on Friday. Jonathan Dwyer is the next man up at running back for Arizona. Even if Ellington is ultimately cleared for Monday's opener, the situation is a reminder of his fragility.

Could be 4-6 weeks. Still unclear precisely what the injury is.

Thanks for the heads up, LT.

I have Ellington on my team. Just went and grabbed Dwyer before somebody else snagged him.

Me too but I don't know that it's anything to smile about. He's mediocre at best and not what Arians designed the offense around. Best hope is to pray for goaline touches. Not ideal for an rb2

A starting RB picked up off the waiver wire is ALWAYS a good thing. I may never use him, but neither will anyone else.

If Ellington is out this week, who should I roll with in my flex:

                              Dwyer vs SD
Bernard Pierce vs Cinci (no ray rice)
                              Steven Ridley @ Miami
                              Eric Decker vs Oakland

IF ppr, maybe Decker. Good matchup.

Its standard. Thinking Decker or Pierce. Decker has a nice matchup against OAK, but love that Pierce will probably be good for 15-20 touches, but against a stout Cincy defense.

I would say that is the best that can be hoped for with him a lot of first and goal. I just don't see him getting the ball enough in that offense

I'd go decker. He'll get a good chunk of the targets and he's a monster in the Redzone as he has been for years.

Starting to lean towards Decker. I wonder if he will have a better year being the #1 WR in NYJ than being the #3/4 option in Denver.

Having Geno Smith throwing won't be a problem.

He will draw the defenses best d back now. He also doesn't have manning throwing to him.

I like Decker, that seems like your best match up.

Don't think it's even a question. You start the starting running back who is guaranteed touches. Especially over a WR who is in an unproven offense with a shaky QB. AND it's non ppr.

Dwyer is garbage . Just some big plodder that'll trip over himself after 3 yards . I'd start any of those 3 other options over him without hesitation

Ellington might be this year's version of David Wilson.
