#142Cool stuff.
Led by a Terrific Group of RBs, k13's Niners Expects to Factor Heavily into the Playoff Picture
Draft Grade: B
Think you’re better than this? Nominate yourself for the Toyota Hall of Fame and prove it.
k13's Niners parlayed a solid draft slot (second overall) into a respectable performance. With a mark of 7-6-0 (1,323 points), they're projected to finish seventh in SBR's High Stakes League. With their first five picks, k13's Niners focused on balance, selecting QB Drew Brees (27th overall), RBs Doug Martin (2nd) and DeMarco Murray (30th), and WRs Hakeem Nicks (55th) and Antonio Brown (58th). They ended up with the top pair of RBs in the league, as they added Martin and Murray.
The Season Ahead
Whether by good fortune or well-planned strategy, k13's Niners has secured a favorable bye week schedule for their superstars. Of their top five players in projected points, none share a common off week. They have an easier-than-average schedule when factoring in opponents' projected points. Along with the seventh-easiest overall schedule, both the first four games and last four games of the season are about league-average difficulty for k13's Niners. A soft stretch might begin in Week 5, when k13's Niners plays projected bottom-tier teams for three games in a row.
Draft Notes
- Strongest Position: k13's Niners has two positional units projected to beat their slot's league average, RB (by 12.4%) and QB (7.7%).
- The Heist Is On: The other league managers passed over a diamond in the rough. According to ADP, k13's Niners got a steal in snatching Antonio Gates in the ninth round (114th overall pick vs. ADP of 103.6).
- Consistency Is My Middle Name: With seven consistent players among their 14 picks, k13's Niners is looking for reliable help.
- Digging Deep: Marcel Reece is owned in less than 10% of all Yahoo! leagues (0%). Perhaps he will reward k13's Niners for their faith.
- A Pair of Winners: k13's Niners has a couple of proven fantasy champs in their lineup. Across all Yahoo! leagues last season, two of their players (Doug Martin and Drew Brees) finished among the top 20 in percentage of times on a first-place roster.
- Single Serving: Forsaking roster depth, k13's Niners opted to select only one player at each of three positions (TE, DEF, and K).
Toyota Top Picks
Doug Martin 1st Round (2nd Pick)
Doug Martin ranks fourth in the league among RBs with 263 projected fantasy points, 73.0% higher than the average at that position.
Drew Brees 2nd Round (27th Pick)
According to projections, Drew Brees was the worst value pick of the round; however, estimates still show him putting up 22.0% more points than the average player at that position.
DeMarco Murray 3rd Round (30th Pick)
Reaching for the Best: Although they got the highest-ranked RB left on the board, k13's Niners may have reached a little on DeMarco Murray in the third round (30th overall pick vs. ADP of 50.6).
Hakeem Nicks 4th Round (55th Pick)
Hakeem Nicks went with the 55th pick, but according to projections, he will fall outside of the top 10 in the NFL in both receiving TDs (16th) and receiving yards (18th) with 7.6 and 1,062 respectively.
Antonio Brown 5th Round (58th Pick)
While drafted 58th overall, Antonio Brown is not projected among the NFL's top 10 in either receiving TDs (40th with 5.4) or receiving yards (17th with 1,064).
Calling an Audible
While k13's Niners is projected to have four below-average positions, DEF is clearly their weakest unit (37.3% below the league average at that position).
The following undrafted players may be worth considering:
San Diego Defense
Rank: 236 ADP: 144.77
Tennessee Defense
Rank: 252 ADP: 146.57
Minnesota Defense
Rank: 257 ADP: 143.86
Atlanta Defense
Rank: 261 ADP: 129.91

The teams look pretty even and like every year it comes down to who can avoid injuries and get lucky on waiver wire pick-ups. It's gonna be a competitive season!Comment -

Yeah but there were several spots I would have prefered to get different players.
Hated taking two wrs back to back at end of round 2/3. Vick at the end of round 6, defense/kicker i round 8/9. Just generally ended up bad. Can get lucky and compete but really gonna take a lot of luck at this point.Comment -

#151I still owe the other 500. Trying to get a loan lined up. Was only expecting to put up 500 for the league, so I think it's gonna be hard for me to owe 500 and put up an extra 50/week.Comment -

#156Looks good, can't wait for Week 1 when hopes and dreams are still alive for an undefeated season at least for one week....
We should establish the Prize Pool Payout before the games start. We'll have 14 000 points to work with.
