My FanDuel Bargains of the night:
PF - Amir Johnson ($4,800). Target 23-28 fpts. Risk = Moderate. Upside = Great. Amir Johnson got the start last game, and responded very well. Assuming he gets the same type of minutes, Amir should churn out a beast-like performance against the Bobcats tonight. Plus, he’s still cheaper than his counterpart, Ed Davis ($5,200), and has better upside.
SG - Gordon Hayward ($5,000). Target 20-25 fpts. Risk = Moderate. Upside = Good. Paying homage to the 1976 classic rock song by Kansas, “Carry on my Hayward son; there’ll be peace when you are done.” Fantasy backers are certainly hoping there will be peace when Gordon is done tonight, and I don’t see why there wouldn’t be. He has been on a bit of a hot streak, and he has a great matchup against the Hawks, who have been kind to SG’s this season.
PF - Ersan Ilyasova ($4,700). Target 19-24 fpts. Risk = Low. Upside = Fair. He has produced well since entering the starting lineup, and it’s tough not to ride him given the cheap price tag.
SG - Alexey Shved ($5,000). Target 20-25 fpts. Risk = Low. Upside = Fair. I really like Alexey here. He has a decent matchup against the Hornets, and his offensive role is expanding as he is one of the few Minnesota players with the ability to stretch the floor. Plus, JJ Barea is dealing with an injury, so look for Shved to pick up even more minutes and production.
SF - Metta Ron World Artest Peace ($5,900). Target 27-32 fpts. Risk = Low. Upside = Great. MWP under $5,900 really seems like low hanging fruit here. He is still considered a bargain at 9.8% of the salary cap, as opposed to 12-14% at places like DraftDay and DraftKings. MWP has put up 33 and 44 fantasy points in two games under the revamped, depleted Lakers roster. Expect him to keep rolling in his expanded role, even though OKC has been solid against SF’s this season.
PG - Luke Ridnour ($4,700). Target 19-24 fpts. Risk = Low. Upside = Moderate. Ridnour becomes a decent value play with JJ Barea ruled out tonight against New Orleans. Luke totaled 24 fantasy points without Barea vs the Thunder on Wednesday, so he might be worth a second look if you need to save some cash at the PG spot.
SG - Ben Gordon ($4,700). Target 20-25 fpts. Risk = Moderate/High. Upside = Good. Ben Gordon has averaged 29 fantasy points in his past three games off the bench for the Bobcats. BG has been known to make runs like this, but the question becomes whether or not he will continue his run vs Toronto tonight. The Charlotte backcourt is always sort of a crapshoot between Walker, Sessions, Gordon, and Henderson. Mike Dunlap usually likes to ride the hot hand between those four, which makes Gordon a high risk, high return type of play tonight.
SF - Landry Fields ($3,500). Target 15-19 fpts. Risk = Moderate. Upside = Fair. Fields produced last game, when he broke the starting lineup of Pietrus. Fields picked up 42 minutes in that game, mostly due to Terrenace Ross not playing. Ross is a game-time decision tonight, but you have to expect Fields to pick up some quality minutes even if Ross is a go.
PF - Jared Sullinger ($3,800). Target 18-23 fpts. Risk = Moderate. Upside = Fair. Power Forward seems to be the position with terrific bargains tonight. Sully has been playing fantastic for the Celtics, warranting a larger spot in Doc River’s rotation. He has averaged 22.5 fantasy points in his last four, including a 35 point performance on Wednesday. Houston ranks #27 in defensive efficiency against PF’s in their last ten, so Sully should have some room to do his thing.
