Under 51... alot of running coming 2 good defenses.. FAU offense is far from explosive to say the least and Troy has probably the best defense in the sunbelt.

#37This is one of those games that if it were on Saturday it would jump right out at me...i would LOVE this game on a Saturday, and I love it tonight. And before I say who I am taking (which should be important because the last two shit conference games that I Loved were Rice 77-20 over N.Texas, and Fla Int HUGE over N. Texas) The moral here, fade shit teams in shit confrerences against moderately superior teams. I love the fact that no road favorites are covering during the week...it wouldn't become a trend if it didn't go both ways at some point. Its hammertime on Troy boys, this is a rocking chair blowout, over at halftime...take troy in the first two quarters, the first half and for the game...the total is tricky, i don't see FAU scoring more than 6 in this spot...Comment -

#42I was hoping people might drop the total, thinking too much about last week's FAU game. I think there will be points in this one. FAU's defense is leaky and Troy can put up points against bad defenses. FAU's best game came at home, so I expect them to score - but their passing offense (QB Rusty Smith) has to get some consistency & Big plays. If one team gets into the 30s, the other teams should get enough to put this one over although I'd put the cut off at 52.Comment -

#43I rarely hit midweek games, its gotten so bad I barrel myself in midweek betting all my saturday and sunday action by wednesday so I still have money to make those bets.
That being said, I really like troy tonight and placed a smaller bet on them, bought it down to -3. I agree with those saying this midweek home dog thing is a trend that is just waiting to blow up. But to auto fade me midweek also seems like a good idea with my track record.
Basically I wouldn't bet either side based on my 'analysis'. BOL to everyone tonight!Comment -

#44I'm leaning towards Troy -3.5 only because I think FAU will still be in shock over the last second loss to MTSU. Plus, Troy seems to get up for these ESPN games. A few years ago the beat my Mizzou as a 2TD 'dog."You Can't Outfox a Fox" -Dapper Capper

#46Friday with Coach Schelinberger
Upcoming Game with Troy
This of course is a very important game for us, as they all were last year in our run towards the championship of the Sun Belt Conference. We’re in a playoff situation against Troy. In all likelihood, the Sun Belt champion will have won them all. If there’s nobody there to win them all, then you have to win all but one, and that’s the situation that we had last year.
Nearly 1/2 Through Schedule,
how is the health of the team?
I’m concerned about the health of the offensive line. It looks like Nick Paris (SC) (who broke a bone in his foot the final scrimmage prior to the season opener) will be able to play some, it looks like John Rizzo (SRT) will be able to play some. Kevin Miller (SRG) is improving, and David Matlock (SLG) is playing with an injury that continues to nag him. That’s most of offensive line so we’ve got to pray that it all holds up and that we can put enough points on the board to win.
Expectations of the Game
It will be a high-scoring game as it was a year ago. It’ll take 25 points or so to win the ball game and we’ve got to be able to produce that many points. But all in all, the team is in good spirits, they’ve practiced hard this week and we look forward to the upcoming game.

The Owls have found the going tough offensively this year. With the exception of
their victory over UAB, FAU has scored just two touchdowns all season, and only one
in their last 12 quarters.
The memories for the Troy Trojans are hard to put aside.
The 2007 Troy University football season was going along at a perfect clip. The Trojans had won a pair of big games on national television, had already clinched a share of a second straight Sun Belt crown, and needed just one more win, at home against Florida Atlantic, to secure a berth in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.
However, four turnovers later and it was the Owls, not the Trojans, who were celebrating on the turf at Movie Gallery Stadium. And, it was the Owls who accepted the bid to play in New Orleans, while the Trojans, despite an 8-4 record, stayed at home for bowl season.
With a chance to win the outright Sun Belt Conference title and earn a second straight trip to the New Orleans Bowl, the Trojans had both ripped from their hands by FAU, which scored 21 points over a 6:18 stretch of the second half and then held off a furious comeback attempt by Troy for a 38-32 victory.
“This game is a big step in reaching our goal of going back to New Orleans,” Trojans senior offensive lineman Chris Jamison said. “It just so happens that this is the game we lost last year that cost us the trip, but we are really focused on this game.”
But, to earn that all-important win, the Trojans have some areas of concern to get straight before the trip to Ft. Lauderdale. Coach Larry Blakeney said the play of the Troy defensive unit, which was exposed by Oklahoma State last week to the tune of 612 yards of total offense.
The Trojans also struggled up front defensively against Oklahoma State with senior Kenny Mainor out for the season. That loss means players like sophomore John Mark Patrick and freshman Brandon Boudreaux have to step up and contribute when called upon.
“Our corner play was horrendous and it’s starting to become a place where everyone is going to attack us,” Blakeney said. “We’ve got to at least be able to defend or be able to tackle and right now we can’t do either at that position.”
“We lost SDT Kenny Mainor. Now we have another production problem. Not only do we
lose probably our smartest football player on defense, but we lose one that is very
productive, a preseason All-Conference selection, who makes a lot of plays, and also
can get a lot of people in the right position.”
Senior defensive end Kenny Mainor went down on the
next-to-last play of the first half with a knee injury and did not return. Mainor had
knee surgery on Sept. 25 and will likely miss the rest of the season. Junior defensive end Brandon Lang lost most of the 2007 season after suffering a knee injury against Oklahoma State. He came close to suffering the same fate this year when he hyper-extended the same knee against the Cowboys. Lang sat out most of the second half after leaving the game, but is expected to be back on the field when the Trojans take on FAU.
Of course, FAU is no OKST.

#59Troy -1.5 (half) (-115)
Troy/FAU under 10.5 1st quarter (-125)
FAU offensive line is not giving up the sacks this season but the quarterback is getting a lot of pressure. Rusty Smith has already thrown 7 int and lots of incompletions. His numbers are way down from a year ago. Beside the Oklahoma St game, Troy has played very good defense this season. They are tough to run against. Oklahoma St wanted some revenge against Troy. Troy Defeated Oklahoma St 41-23 in 2007. Troy played good defense against OHio St and held them to 309 yards and only 28 points. Troy led Middle Tenn St 31-3 in the 4th quarter. Troy took out their starters and the subs gave up 2 meaningless touchdowns in the 4th quarter. It was the Troy defense that shutdown in MIddle Tenn St in that game. Troy was able to score 31 points against a stingy Middle Tenn St defense while FAU could only score 13 points against Middle Tenn St.
FAU led 10-0 at the half against Middle Tenn St. Troy was down 14-10 to Ohio St at the half and was down 35-10 to Oklahoma St at the half. I can guarantee that Troy will be up at the half. If Troy gets a big lead at the half, I will take FAU in the 2nd half.Comment -

TROY IS THE PICK BECAUSE THEY ARE FAR FAR FAR SUPERIOR TO FAU. Those other games the home team was the correct pick because the lines were too high or their competition was overrated and they were underrated, not because they were a home dog during the week
Tonight's line is different than all of those. Troy is not overrated, if anything they are underrated because this line is WAY too low. FAU is a bad team. This situation is different than all those other games. The play is TROY trust meComment -

#69I too am leaning towards Troy. But just FYI..I just got this free email pick and it is as follows
Game: Troy at Florida Atlantic (Tuesday 10/07 8:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: Florida Atlantic +4 (-110)
Troy and Florida Atlantic hookup in Sun Belt action in a matchup of what were supposed to be the top two teams in the conference. Florida Atlantic saw that dream vanish on the last play of the game at MTSU. They outplayed MTSU all game but lost it on a hail mary as time expired. As a result, the Owls are definitely the team in need here. They finally broke through on Troy last year, and have most of those parts back from last year. Meanwhile, Troy has a new QB and they lost several key players. Most will gauge this Owl team on a mediocre performance at MTSU, and their poor showing to date. What most fail to realize is this will be only the Owl's second home game since November 10th of last year! The competition they have faced this year has been absolutely brutal (Texas, Michigan State, Minnesota). This is an experienced team, and coming home after four of five on the road. I expect the Owls to play well and likely win this one outright.
Still on the fence on the over / under right now...
