I really hate to see this. This guy is one of the more innovative coaches in the NCAA.

He was, but from day one you could tell that something was not quite right at Oregon.

I never really liked him... he always came across as an ass during interviews to me. I gotta say this news is still bad for college football because he's still one of the best coaches in the game even though he's a cocky blowhard

probably is too late for the ncaa to impose the banhammer in the 2011 season. But ohio st, boise , unc, oregon soon, the bcs champ game will be played betwen non aq, because most teams will be punished

Perhaps the 2011 BCS game could be redone now that many of the top 10 have made the news for other reasons. How about TCU vs. Stanford, Andrew Luck vs. the highly successful TCU 4-2-5 defense.

Amazing how both Auburn and Oregon are in some type of trouble with the NCAA.

The big schools just need to start their own professional league and compete with the NFL. Use the money to help underwrite education programs. Stuff the NCAA.

There has been at least 1 study that has shown schools that cheat don't really suffer in terms of their win%, although it didn't include games "taken away" in later years when the cheating school was brought to account.
If the penalties don't really work, why not cheat? Coaches are under tremendous pressure to win at all cost or they lose their jobs.

It's truly sad that you have to cheat to compete, but it is an unfortunate reality in college football today. It's been debated ad nauseam, but there are no easy fixes. With public money involved it brings with it the level playing field mentality and that never works anywhere. Hell yes, there is immense pressure to win at these big schools and to do that you need to compete. By now we have a pretty good idea what it takes to do that.

He's not toast. Jumping the gun a little Chuckles. They might get penalized but he's not going anywhere and it won't be a major deal. Much being made out of alittle.

Agreed, I hope this is the case. This is being drawn out, I wonder when the ncaa will come to a conclusion.
