The whole Mullen/Cam Newton distraction could be a factor?

Cam Newton is Auburn's QB...not Alabama.

I like State and the points here. They have had a week off and 2 weeks to prepare for this game. Miss State has a top rated defense.

I think Bama wins this in a close battle. I'm taking MS St. with the points.

No way would I lay that many points with a deflated Bama squad. This could be a 17-14 type game. Now if UGA were to beat Auburn.....lay the points because Bama is comin

I wouldn't say soft, but something is definitely wrong. We aren't playing Bama football. And yes, Coach Bryant would not have put up with this level of play. I shy away from betting on Bama for two reasons.
                    1. Betting with your heart rather than your head is a terrible idea.

                    2. Bama, historically, is VERY inconsistent at covering.

When will Bama ever get a 5 star qb? I mean this is Alabama, no top qb's ever want to come there? Is it because they know they wont be throwing a ton? What is it? Tyler Watts wasnt that guy, nor was Brodie Croyle, not Freddie Kitchens, and not the current Mr. Hold The Ball As Long As I Want To.

Alabama's big problem this season has been the O-Line. McElroy has been sacked 25 times this season. Last season through nine games, Bama was 10th best nationally in protecting the quarterback from sacks, while this year's group is tied for 100th allowing 2.8 a game.

Communication has been a problem with the linemen. A play is called, then changed and some block on the first call and others are blocking on the changed call. Another issue is they are just not coming off the ball fast enough. The defense is getting the edge on the snap.

The 0-line better get its act together because Mississippi State is averaging 2.1 sacks per game which puts them second best in the conference.

O-Lines arnt used to blocking for 20 seconds, thats how long McElroy holds the ball.

Well, Mr. Hold The Ball As Long As I Want has a championship. Also, Broadway Joe and Bart Starr ring a bell? Regardless, Bama football has never been a team that builds an offense around a quarterback. We smash the ball down the other teams throat and let the defense win for us. Our defense is lacking and McElroy is dropping back way more than he should, that's why we aren't playing Bama football, and that's why we aren't where we were last year.

Right on, while the O-Line will give up some sacks, McElroy holds the ball for days back there. Throw it away, and live to play another down.
As far as Bama goes, I'd take State and the pts all day.
LSU exposed Bama on both the run and passing game last week. Bama is not 1/2 as good a last year, too many holes and players seem to be waiting for someone to step up and show them what winning is all about.

All Bama cares about now I believe is beating Auburn. Miss St who?

Miss State might have had 2 weeks but last week was not dedicated to beating Alabama. You know the death of Nick Bell had to effect them last week and this week as well. The funeral was last Saturday.

Ok and what's your point? You didn't pick a Bama to cover or Miss St and the pts?
Since you have a Bama avatar I assume you are picking Bama to cover the spread?
Miss St has no offense. They won their last game on defense and Kentucky has lots of offense.
Just because one of their players died last week, I don't think it effected them negatively.
It sure didn't hurt their offense and their defense had 3 or 4 turnovers.
This is their first game since his funeral. If anything State will be playing their hearts out which doesn't bode well for Alabama which looks as if they are searching for something to play for.

The only way I will touch another Bama game is if Cam Newton is ruled ineligible for the Iron Bowl. Bama is too inconsistent and Miss State just lost one of their players to a fast cancer.

Bama isn't consistent this year. You never know if it will the team that played the first half against Arkansas or the first half against Florida. (and note...I only said half in each game)

That goes for any team. The bottom line is Bama will have trouble covering this many pts.

Youre one of the most rational level headed bama fans on this site. Good luck with the rest of the season.

Bama couldn't beat LSU. This team is not last years

Bama lock it up. They are the best two loss team in the world and just played some bad football earlier in the year. This will be a classic steam roll. BTF
