Anybody watching this game? Why does the announcer keep calling the shotgun formation the pistol?

The RB must line up behind the QB. If he lines up next to the QB it's just the shotgun. IU runs some pistol formations but sometimes it's just a shotgun and the announcer doesn't seem to notice the difference.
