Dr. Bob could not make it for this show, but he said he will be available for next week's preview.

During football season the schedules of handicappers like Dr. Bob are very busy and not always predictable.

Texas has a pretty good defense. Maybe not Top ten but Im sure he was just referring to a statistical model that he has for defenses and Texas is ranked in top 5 or something. But Texas first 4 games were against pretty weak teams so Im sure within the model, Texas Defense prob appears to be better than it really is......IMO

That's why stat modelers always piss me off. B/c if they watched minute of the the QB for Iowa St, they would never consider Iowa St a "solid pick"

thanks, appreciate the response. i enjoy the videos whether i agree personally or not. good to get other perspectives on these games. dr. bob has always been pretty open with his opinions so it was nice having him around, and will look forward to him coming back.

in this same vein, i always wonder myself why the stat modeler types don't ever seem to frequently call out the books on games like utah -6 at iowa state, and nebraska at k state is another one off the top of my head. i still like knowing what's going on in these guy's heads, especially when they're giving out information that they don't have to.

Very interesting video, they talked about nearly every bet I made this week.

They agreed with 2 of my plays, and I cheered when they did:

Iowa St +24
Idaho -1.5

They disagreed on one pick, I have Michigan +3.5. I am nervous about this now of course, but sticking with it as I don't think Iowa travels very well.

Then they were neutral on one pick. This is disaster for me as I have it for 5 units and is my biggest play of the season so far. Clearly something is not matching up:

Nebraska -9.5

I was really hoping they would both come in and say that Nebraska should be much higher, unfortunately they make the line much smaller than I do. I may take a look at my strength of schedule adjustments, because on a yardage basis, Nebraska is killing Texas. Texas will be the hardest team they've played, but I still think Nebraska will be able to whip them.

I guess it all comes down to Nebraska at 8.3 YPP on offense (#1) against Texas at 3.8 YPP on defense (#1)

I rarely disagree so vehemently with these guys, but Nebraska at less than -10 is my best bet of the week and I believe one of the best bets of the year! We are talking about one of the truly best teams in the country facing a Texas team that in in rebuilding mode this year (whether they want to admit it or not) and their defensive numbers (especially there run defense numbers) are a fraud. Add in the HUGE revenge angle from the Big 12 Championship Game and I make the fair line on this game Nebraska -14.

I made the mistake of posting my response after reading other responses in this thread but before watching the video.

It seems that I am not "disagreeing" with these guys by taking Nebraska. I do disagree with RAS's assessment of the Texas defense, not only do they NOT have one of the best defenses in the country, they don't even have the best defense in this GAME!

Unlike him, I would not be surprised if Huskers hang up 40, although I feel something like 34-17 is more likely.

Sorry about that LT. They were neutral on the game. I was surprised. Given that they are stat modelers, I thought for sure both would see value in Nebraska, who holds a major edge in all stats. I would love to see what RAS uses for parameters that brings his line below 10.
