Well I went 3 and 3 last week. That is not bad but I lost a unit. I don't like losing anything. I should have just laid all my crumbs on my Best Pick(Ohio St. -42.5). But I like to make some of the games intersting to keep track of while I am being a lazy couch potato, sports nut junky.

Any way I am going to go and see how many Best Picks I come up with this week and go for it. Baby needs some new shoes!

Are the Blue Raiders ready for prime time? Middle Tennessee State is about to find out.

The Raiders host Troy on Tuesday in a matchup between what are considered the two top teams in the Sun Belt Conference. MTSU was picked to win the league in preseason balloting. Troy, by contrast, has won the past two Sun Belt crowns.

Something's got to give.

Middle Tennessee also will arguably be at full strength, offensively speaking, for the first time all season. Star QB Dwight Dasher will make his 2010 debut. Dasher was suspended for the first four games of the season by the NCAA for accepting a $1,500 loan.

"It's Dwight Dasher, and that feels good. We've got that Dwight Dasher feeling right now," WR Sancho McDonald said. "Dwight has a special chemistry with everybody. We know what he can do. It's nothing against the other quarterbacks because they did a good job, but when he is on the field people get the feeling that (MTSU) will really get rolling."

Last season, Dasher became just the fourth NCAA player to top 1,000 yards rushing while throwing for more than 2,500 yards in the same season. Getting that kind of dynamic player back, especially before the biggest game of the year, can only help.

NOTES, QUOTES

--MTSU has issued almost 190 press credentials for the Tuesday game with Troy, and at least 11 pro scouts are expected to be in attendance as well.

--Tuesday's game will be the third "Blackout" game in team history, when the players wear all black and the fans are encouraged to do the same. The prior Blackout game, a 31-14 win over Memphis last season, drew a crowd of 28,105, a record attendance total for a Middle Tennessee home game.

--Troy has beaten Middle Tennessee in each of the past four meetings.

SERIES HISTORY: Middle Tennessee leads 11-6 (last meeting, 2009, 31-7 Troy).

SCOUTING THE OFFENSE: Up until the Blue Raiders' bye week, Dasher hadn't gotten extended reps in practice since mid-August, when he got flagged by the NCAA for accepting the loan. How much will Middle Tennessee have to limit what it wants to do offensively given Dasher's prolonged absence? Dasher can always run, though, and will augment a ground game that already leads the Sun Belt Conference in rushing yardage.

SCOUTING THE DEFENSE: Middle Tennessee is flourishing in Randall McCray's first season as coordinator. The Blue Raiders currently lead the league in points allowed (23.8 per game) and sacks, and rank second in the Sun Belt in total defense and tackles for loss.

STRATEGY AND PERSONNEL

THIS WEEK'S GAME:

Troy at Middle Tennessee -- It's a statement game for Middle Tennessee (2-2), considered the top team in the Sun Belt heading into the season. Then Dwight Dasher got suspended, and the Blue Raiders were thrown into turmoil. There's a definite sense of urgency for the Raiders to make up for those lost opportunities in nonconference play -- particularly the loss to Memphis -- in league action, and Troy is the best opponent on MTSU's Sun Belt docket.

KEYS TO THE GAME:

Stop Jernigan. Troy WR Jernel Jernigan is an all-purpose threat who can kill an opposing team either on offense or in the return game. It's vital that Middle Tennessee contains him. The best way to do that might be simply to prolong drives, control time of possession and keep Troy's high-powered offense off the field.

PLAYERS TO WATCH:

QB Dwight Dasher -- An easy choice. All eyes will be on the phenomenally talented Dasher as he makes his 2010 debut after serving a four-game suspension.

DE Jamari Lattimore -- The top sack artist on a MTSU defense that leads the league in getting to the quarterback, Lattimore can greatly help his team's chances by rattling, and hitting, Troy QB Corey Robinson.

LB Darin Davis -- He and the rest of the Blue Raiders' relatively inexperienced linebacking corps will be tested greatly by a Troy team that runs plenty of three- and four-wide sets offensively. That will thrust linebackers into pass coverage on a regular basis.

ROSTER REPORT:

--RB Phillip Tanner was named one of 121 semifinalists for the William V. Campbell Trophy. Formerly known as the Draddy Trophy, it's given to a player in his final season of eligibility. Nominees must have at least a 3.2 GPA on a 4.0 scale and be a first-team player or significant contributor on the football field.

--P Josh Davis leads the Sun Belt in punting (46.9 yards per attempt) and would rank 17th had he made the minimum number of attempts.

--PK Alan Gendreau, who booted a 55-yard field goal in MTSU's last game against Louisiana-Lafayette, is on pace to be the school's all-time leader in field goals made.

maybe you have watched Dasher play, i have watched last year against miss st, which i know troy is not an sec team, dasher super athlete kinda like vick, but makes some bad decisions, I know troy has played well in every game, think lost to ok st by 3, uab by 1, bowling green by a touchdown, don't reember the other game, but every game they have played has been very close, those are my reasons for (troy) and the pts

Hey Cat, no disrespect at all. Somebody is on one of the sides or maybe both on the same. I am not mad at all. I have my reasons and you have yours. I know I don't change just because someone tells me differently. It is all apart of waging. Somebody has to win and somebody has to lose. I rather we both be on the same side so we can celebrate together. But I will always applaud someone else's win. The book lost some money. That's what counts. And for future references I will post what I play with the units I wagered. I liked Kentucky but I didn't wager on them. So congrats to u on that win.

I have live odds updates access and 60% of public on Troy and line has gone back down to 3 in most places after being up to 3.5 when public was on M Tenn St. Still puts M Tenn St in drivers seat. To tell you the truth this game is a toss up. I went M Tenn-3 yesterday when line was rising and M Tenn was favorite.

KINDA off the subject have you looked at the kentucky/auburn game for this week? auburn -8, uk will really struggle against the speed of cam, but kentucky did very well last year at auburn, my take auburn +8 haven't locked it in yet, uk defense not good, after wathing usc/auburn game, kentucky should struggle, after cobb leave i will be a u of L fan, strong will turn that program around and already done so...anyways good luck tonite,

Cat, in this one I would take the 8 with Kentucky. If you can get +8 Kentucky grab it. This line has dropped to 6 in most places.
