#6I see Alabama possibly running away with this game. Tough place for a freshman QB to play at and succeedComment -

#7I have this booked already--bought it down to -10 to win $500. I really don't see PSU competing in this game. They don't have the speed, athletes, or experience. Bama is just at a different level, and they also have huge edge in coaching. Yes I said that, Im born and raised in Pennsylvania and JoePa a living legend-however his son is an idiot and he runs the QB's and the offense. Depending how the week plays out I might put more on it or play Bama 1Q or 1st half as well. Also PSU NEVER plays a tough team this early in the season way too much to ask for a young team like this to go into Bama and compete, let alone win.Last edited by khaden; 09-07-10, 06:26 PM.Comment -

#12I think this game will be closer than anyone here thinks could be a repeat of last year Alabama/Tennessee game. I think bama wins but not by more than a TD just throwing it out there.Comment -

#14Penn State is very inexperienced this year...bringing a freshman qb into alabama spells trouble...line already at -11.5Comment -

#15My only concern is Alabama inexperience defense. But that kind of get neglected when you think of Penn State starting a freshman QBComment -

#17The thing to consider with Alabama is when one starter leaves, his backup could start on any D1 team. Example, their running backs. Ingram is out and the freshman comes in with over 100 yrds. Night game in the SEC spells trouble. I think anything under 13 is safe.Comment -

#25anything less than a 17 point win will shock me. I have said it all summer and I even made this thread earlier. Bama will Roll. This team is good.
Zboiz......is LSU really as bad as they looked the other nite? For your sake I hope not.

#26I'm obviously a homer, but I've loved this spot since the spring. The replacements on defense are definitely no joke and actually more athletic. This will be the first big game since the stadium expansion and I honestly believe it will be totally nuts. Dareus out IS a big deal but depth is pretty good there. Regarding Ingram, I have no concerns and don't really expect him to play.
I do however, think Joe Pa's playing his cards correctly and have no doubt St will bring their A game. Unless a lot of new offensive wrinkles exist, I just can't see St scoring over 17 pts at the most with 10-13 being my expectation. Can Bama put up 28 or so? I think McElroy will have a big day as St looks first to stop the run.
Having said that, I'd love to hear you guys break down St's O and D in depth.
Honestly, however, I'm a little concerned so many seem to be on Bama. I sorta figured otherwise. Also, I noticed where the Coach's poll has St ranked 14th. Interesting.Comment -

#28I can't see anyway Penn State can cover, will have to play a perfect game and hope Bama plays sloppy. Our Oline is awful, could be a long night for the offense.Comment -

RB is solid with Royster and Green. Looks like for now true freshman Silas Redd is holding down the third spot. I'd love to see him get more carries, very quick and shifty runner.
WR is probably the deepest and best position on the O. Moye and Zug lead the way, Justin Brown should see more time this year, he's a good young wide out. Bret Brackett and Devon Smith have experience. Losing Curtis Drake to injury hurt, people expected big things from him this season. Felder and Kersey should get some pt this year as well.
TE is another question mark, losing Quarless and Shuler hurt. Junior Andrew Szczerba was expected to start this year but has been banged up with a back injury I believe. Leaving rs freshman Gary Gillliam and true freshman Kevin Haplea to fill the role.
OL is awful, only solid part of the OLine is guard Stefen Wisniewski. Not much depth and Penn State has had a serious problem developing their Oline the last several years. They only seem to get it right every few years.
DL has some talent and experience, returning starters Ollie Ogbu, Jack Crawford, and Eric Latimore who started 5 or 6 games last year. Devon Still, Jordan Hill, Kevion Latham, and Sean Stanley all saw time last year. Also have Brandon ware back this year after an injury and some time in Joe's dog house.
Linebacker is loaded with young talent but a lot of inexperience. Stupar, Gbadyu, Colasanti and Mauti all have experience but Mauti is returning from a torn ACL. Gerald Hodges will be a monster with more playing time. Lot's of good young talent after these guys who just need the experience.
CB is ok, some nice young corners in Lynn and Morris, but not much depth or experience behind them.
Saftey is a concern, Sukay is decent and Astorino is a liability at times. Not much depth behind them.
Special teams were an absolute joke last season, things looked to be improved this year but have to wait and see.
And for what it's worth(not much going into this saturday) Penn State is 17-16 all time vs SEC teams, have won their last two meetings with an SEC team. They are however 5-8 vs Bama.Comment -
