First OJ and how Florida safety Tony Joiner getting nailed for burglary.

This sure couldn't have come at a worse time for him and the Gators with LSU this weekend.

Heres the whole scoop on this one:

Joiner arrested, charged after early-morning incident

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida safety Tony Joiner was arrested early Tuesday and charged with felony burglary, police said.

    Joiner

Joiner, a senior captain who ranks fifth on the ninth-ranked Gators with 20 tackles, was arrested around 5 a.m. outside the fenced impound lot of a towing company, Gainesville police said.

Joiner was accused of pushing an electric gate open to enter the lot in an attempt to retrieve his girlfriend's car, which was being held in lieu of a $76 towing bill, a police report said.

According to the report, witnesses said Joiner opened the gate to the towing company, got into a car, drove out of the lot and was trying to close the gate when he was confronted by one of the witnesses. The witness said Joiner drove back into the lot and waited for police to arrive.

The arresting officer, Robert Concannon, wrote that Joiner was talking on a phone when he walked up. Concannon said he heard Joiner say, "I am probably about to go to jail 'cause I did push the gate open."

Florida coach Urban Meyer was aware of Joiner's arrest and planned to address it after practice Tuesday.

Joiner's arrest came two days after three players were questioned about a shooting outside a downtown nightclub. The players were not considered suspects, but their names were given to police as people who may have witnessed the shooting that happened several hours after the Gators lost 20-17 to Auburn.

Not sure if this matters so much.....if it was Friday night or Saturday morning, perhaps but they have all week to adjust for it and FLA is talented enough with their backups that there should not be too big a drop off but certainly this is uncharacteristic of an Urban Meyers coached team. It will be interesting to see how this plays out but just like the Conn QB whose GF was cheating on him...more times than not these things have little to no impact....

Joe Schad reports on College Football Live that this was all just "a misunderstanding"...lol...and that the owner of the lot was supposed to let them have their car (at 2 in the AM, yeah right)...Joiner is continuing to practice with the team and is expected to play...charges should be dropped by the end of the week...gotta love america...if you can play, we look the other way...

Looks like he's back on the team, but he got stripped of his captaincy.

Joiner practices with Gators, but Meyer removes captaincy

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida safety Tony Joiner practiced Wednesday, one day after he was charged with felony burglary for allegedly trying to take his girlfriend's car out of a towing company's impound lot.

Coach Urban Meyer stripped Joiner of his captain's status and said the senior starter has not been cleared to play Saturday at top-ranked LSU.

Meyer said Joiner would not see the field as long as he is charged with a felony.

"I'm dealing with the facts that I know and that's he was out at the ridiculous time of the day and that's not what I expect out of a captain," Meyer said. "So as of now, he's not a captain at the University of Florida. Any further disciplinary action is going to be a result of what I find out on the legal side of it."

Joiner walked off the practice field with his head down and was off limits to reporters.

Meyer said sophomore Dorian Munroe would start in place of Joiner against the Tigers.

Although the felony charge could be reduced to misdemeanor trespassing, Joiner's case could take several days or maybe even a couple of weeks to work its way through the state attorney's office.

Joiner was arrested around 5 a.m. Tuesday outside the fenced impound lot, Gainesville police said.

The owner of the property called the whole thing a misunderstanding, saying Joiner had arranged to pay the $76 towing bill and pick up the car. But when no one was there to help Joiner, police said, he pushed a heavy electric gate open, got into the car and started to drive off.

Joiner stopped to close the gate and was confronted by a witness, who then called police. Teammate and fellow safety Kyle Jackson was waiting outside the gate, but was not arrested.

Joiner was the eighth Florida player arrested in the last seven months.

His arrest also came two days after three teammates were questioned about a shooting outside a downtown nightclub. The players were not considered suspects. Their names were given to police as people who may have witnessed the early Sunday morning shooting, which happened several hours after the Gators lost 20-17 to Auburn.

                    doc,

yeah, I've seen it many times before...notice that Meyer says that he can't play IF he's charged with a felony (which I don't think he will be)...translation, he sits out the first two series and probably plays the rest of the game...
