Arkansas V Alabama Breakdown from inside view
I know the teams in these two games very well. I thought I would share my breakdown of these games since the board has given so much to me in my years of reading breakdowns on here.

    Arkansas @ Alabama
    Back Arkansas +3.5

Arkansas has the best tandem running game in the nation. Darren McFadden (Heisman frontrunner) is the second best back on the team at this point. OPening week, Felix JOnes racked up over 250 of all purpose yards while DMAC had his 100 plus yard rushing game. These two backs have a bruising blocking fullback (Peyton Hillis) who will probably also be the leading receiver on the team today as well.

Arkansas Leads the nation in kick return yards averaging over 40 yards per return. Do not think this is a fluke because of their week one competition because Felix Jones ran 3 kicks back for td last year.

For the first time in Houston Nutt's tenure, Arkansas has a scholarship kicker. While he is a true freshman, it has been reported that he is hitting 60 yard fieldgoals at 80% accuracy in pracatice. TO say the least, the lack of a kicking game has killed Arkansas in the last 10 years.

In week one, Troy came into Fayetteville and lost 48 - 24. Arkansas defense looked a little lost in the first half until Ex-NC State defensive coordinator Reggie Herring made the second half adjustments. THe first half woes were a result of trying to run a zone defense in resoonse to Troy's spread offense. Once Reggie put the D into their standard Man coverage (which you will see today), they shut Troy down. On another note, we see what Troy did to OK state last night. THey blew them away in every aspect.

Althought Houston Nutt has had a DRAMA filled offseason, he has a way of giving his team an us against the world mentality. Like Houston or not (I don't), he has never had a team quit on him. On another coaching note, Coach Nutt has closed practice this week to the media in an effor to hide an new offesnive wrinkle he is installing in order to get DMAC, Felix, Peyton, and backup RB Michael Smith on the field at the same time. Some say it might be somewhat reminescent of the Flexbone option.

The only thing I have not mentioned is the passing game. This is because it is non-existent. Casey Dick is an average is best QB. Arkansas' star Wideout Marcus Monk is still listed as questionable but from what I am hearing it is very doubtful that he will play. The hogs should be able to have an effective intermediate passing game soley because of the extreme running threat the present.

    My analysis:
    Back Arkansas +3.5
    Arkansas 28 Alabama 20

Many people will give Alabama the coaching edge. However, I hate betting on first year coaches early in the season. I believe it takes several games for the staff to gain the sideline moxy.

Arkansas kicking game should help them win the field position battle. THeir running game will be unstoppable as always. If Arkansas can sprinkle in an intermidiate passing game, they will win the game straight up. The only reason I will not be backing the ML is because it is in Tuscaloosa. IF you have never been to an evening game in Tuscaloosa then you won't understand.

I see a lot of folks on here backing Alabama. At best, I would suggest to lay off this game if you can't go against BAMA.

    Peace,
    Ryan

I don't know who is going to win, but (and I'm no fan of his) this ain't Saban's first rodeo, my friend.

Nobody has stuffed AR's run. Period. Last year Arkansas racked up major rushing yards against all of the big boys. LSU, Auburn, Florida, Wisconsin, etc.

If bama "Stuffs the run", they will have to have 9 in the box. A high school team can put together a small intermidiate passing game with 9 in the box. And while Marcus Monk is out, Arkansas has some young explosive receivers, they are just prone to drops.

LEts not forget, John Parker Wilson has yet to prove he is any better than Casey Dick.

Where are Alabama's points going to come from?

You are dang right about that. My intentions were to say that he CAN coach circles around Nutt, it just might not be shown off this early in his Alabama career because of the time needed for coaches to gel on the sideline.

Didn't Alabama miss like 4 fg's and a pat last year and lose to Arkansas by one point on the road? Would think they have a chance at home with new coach and maybe making a kick or 2.

Pokernut... You have a good memory. THeir kicker lost the game for them last year.

However, We were starting a true freshman QB who was on the prom court 8 months prior to that game. HE only had 1 start under his belt at that point and threw 3 or 4 absolutely terrible interceptions. So they lost 12 points on field goals but gained 17 points off turnovers.

I am not necessarily telling everyone on here to cash your ticket at the back with Arky, but I just wanted to show that there is a little more there than most think.

I am not 100% sold that this Arkansas team is as good as last years, but what does alabama have?

Can somebody please tell me what Alabama has. All I see is defficiencies on both sides of the ball. I think everyone is leaning on Saban and the town of Tuscaloosa rather than the athletes on the field and schemes.

We'll see... I might be dead wrong on this but I thought I would try to offer some insight into this game that you will not find in national news.

                    Peace,
                    Ryan

                          Landslide of a coaching advantage
                          Advantage at QB
                          Much better defense

I think the better question is outside of McFadden and Jones (obviously they count for a lot)...what advantages does Ark have over Bama?

Remember... I just posted for info. I lean to AR. I don't see the defensive advantage for Bama. I certainly don't see an offensive advantage for Bama. John PArker Wilson is just as bad as Casey Dick and the is no doubt who's running game is lights out better.

I didn't start this thread to bicker. I just wanted to share some info as I have an inside view. I would appreciate hearing detailed information on a team I can't follow so closely so I thought you guys might as well.

However, I think the pick of the day is TULSA Over 50.5. Read my inside view thread on that game if you haven't already.

I liked bama at first but this game should be a close one and taking the 3.5 points will come in handy. Will play Arkansas but will wait to see if the line moves to 4. GL every1!!

I wanted TCU to win but I actually bet the other way...TCU playing five days after a huge let down against Texas and then playing a very fit Air Force team at altitude, their schduler should be shot.....I actually bet against TCU on Thursday.....
