Agreed, nothin' better than waking up early on a Saturday or Sunday morning, and knowing you've got a full slate of football games ahead of you...

I have a huge preference for college football over the Pro's. The entire atmosphere is totally different. The pro's lay when they want to play. Look at Indy and New Orleans last year. Instead of going for a perfect season, they decide to take a few weeks off. In college, one loss can eliminate you from the big game. One or two losses can eliminate you from a BCS Bowl game. I'll watch a college game over a pro game 95% of the time.

Colleges are also a lot easier to make money off of. There are so many more college games that bad lines are easier to find, especially at the beginning of the season.

It is about the same situation with basketball. Both NBA and NFL have much higher play level, but the NCAA version has a very special atmosphere. When the teams are well matched a college game gets you more involved than a pro game. My favorite game last year was the humanitarian bowl, a real thrill.

The other college sports (hockey, baseball) are well behind the pros. I wonder why.

Everyone knows that the talent level in Pro Sports is much higher than it is in College Sports, but in Hockey and Baseball, that difference is much more obvious. It is the least obvious in football. One of the reasons might be that hockey, baseball, and hoops, to a certain extent, have a minor league system, but football does not.

what do you mean? I think college hoops level of play is closer to nba than college foots is to nfl.

How could you even gauge this? Is this based off of anything other than your humble opinion?

Football is King in College Sports. I guess if you are an alum of Georgetown, or Seaton Hall, hoops is a big deal, but if you are an alum or fan of any FBS Football team, Football is by far and away #1.
is California not a good BB team?

They are a decent team, but certainly not a Top 25 team. If Cal, or any West Coast or Pac 10 team makes it out of the second round, I will be shocked. Cal may get out of the first round, depending on their seed, but they certainly are not one of the best 16 teams in the nation.

The easiest gauge is the experience level. Kids play college football for t to 4 years. Many do not bother playing college hoops at all. But pro players who are good play for 6-12 years, in addition to the years that they played in college. Experience and maturity are the two easiest gauges, though sometimes I wonder about the maturity angle.

Bigdaddy, what do you think about this proposed idea of a 40% graduation rate for teams to be elidgeable for march madness.....I think it is a good thing for everyone involved...Basketball should be no different than football...a player cant leave untill he has completed three years

Are you kidding me? 40% of those morons graduating? Hysterical. No college would get any players if they actually had to do college work. Half of these guys could not pass a 6th grade spelling test, or a 4th grade Math test. Hoops players are by far and away the dumbest athletes on campus. Most of them stick around long enough to give the pros a good look at them before they flunk out of school. These guys are dumber than caca.
