An excellent hire. This would be the time for UGA to go to a 3-4, because they lose 3 DL's. I think that UGA has become the clear 2nd choice in the SEC East, and can possibly challenge Florida for the SEC East title. They do get South Carolina (away) and Arkansas (home) early, so there will have to be a quick turn-around. I think this is a much better hire than what Tennessee did in finding a new HC.

I do not know at this time if they go that way or not. What I am saying is that if they choose to go that way, this is the right time to do it, having to retool the DL. If they go to a 3-4, they will probably go with Sr's Dobbs and Tripp on the outside, plug in Jr. DT Tyson in the middle, and use Jr. DE Houston as the 4th LB. That is just one way to go. That also gives them two potential LB's that go 259 and 247.

Since becoming the GA head coach for the 2001 season, he has had records of:

8-4
13-1
11-3
10-2
10-3
9-4
11-2
10-3
8-5

2 SEC championships and 2 BCS bowl wins. What are you smoking? Fire him? He could have had the coaching job at USC if he wanted it.

In 9 seasons he has had less than 10 wins only 3 years. Never had less than 8 wins of course because GA has an active streak of 13 years going with 8 or more wins that is the all time record in Division 1.

antifoil we Georgia fans are use to near perfection and we demand it. However Richt is not about to get canned. We have another top 5 recruiting class coming in and word around Florida is that the kids are now eying UGA as the premier place to play in the SEC.

The problem with Richt is that he simply has never made it to the Big Game. Since 2002, he has not lost less than two games, and that does not get you to the Big Game. He has suffered through 14 losses in 4 seasons, and a very disappointing 8-5 season last year. Another 3 or 4 loss season, with the talent this team has, is going to present major problems for Georgia. Georgia fans may expect near perfection, but that does not cut it. Perfection is what you should expect. How many BCS Bowl wins does USC have? How many does Florida have? How many does Ohio State have? How many does LSU have? How many does Texas have? Notice that every one of these teams have at least 1 NC since 2001. Georgia does not. Notice that all of these teams have played in the Big Game twice. Georgia has never made it that far.
