    Usc/cal
I am taking a look at the USC Trojans right now and like what I am seeing. USC absolutely owns Cal and Cal was completely exposed in their last loss @ Oregon, 42-3 drumming. Oregons quarterback hadn't thrown a touchdown all season and Cal made him look like a heisman candidate, Masoli was 21-25 with 3 td's 0 int's. Cal has zero momentum going into this game and everybody knows deep down Cal never really feels like they have a shot against USC. Sure, Cal started the year off 3-0 but they didn't really play anyone good in Maryland, Eastern Washington, and Minnesota. Minnesota has a decent record, 3-1, but I watched that game and Minnesota had zero speed on defense and Jahvid Best single-handedly won that game scoring 5 TD's. USC's defense will not let that happen.

Cal just doesn't have the WR's to balance their rush attack to beat USC. The WR's are just plain bad and the OL lost their two best lineman to the NFL last year. They also lost 3 out of 4 LB's this past season. USC should be able to run all over Cal.

USC's defense played great last week against WSU holding them to zero points for the first 3 quarter. The offense scored 20 in the 1st quarter and let up on the gas a little bit. I do not expect them to let up the gas against in state rival Cal. Cal only has one real threat on offense or defense in Jahvid Best. The biggest question mark coming into this game was the health of Matt Barkley and he looked just fine in the last game, throwing 2 td's and 250 yards. USC also ran the ball very well averaging 8.5ypc. I know it was agaisnt WSU but it doesn't hurt coming into this Cal game.

Now the line movement is saying to stay far away from USC with 61% on USC the line has dropped from -6 to -4.5 I think a big part of this is the loss of RB Staffon Johnson. I don't think he is going to make a big difference in the game. USC has ample RB's to counter this loss.

    USC -4.5 LOCKED

Cal got caught looking ahead, and for all the times that USC OWNED Cal, how many times was USC starting a freshmen quarterback? USC hung ONE touchdown in 3 quarters against washington st. Cal got caught looking ahead last week. They can play. USC will lose this game.

The only reason USC hung one TD in 3 quarters against WSU was because the game was over before the 2nd quarter ended, 20-0 end of 1st quarter. You don't honestly think that they will let up the gas against one of their biggest rivals? USC may be starting a freshmen quarterback but he ain't your average freshmen quarterback. Kid is a surefire NFL quarterback in my opinion. All of the USC players/coaches say he is far from a freshmen maturity wise. His physical abilities and stature are far beyond freshmen standards. He's already played in one of the most hostile environments at Ohio State and he led his team to a victory. USC's lone loss was against Washington in a game where Barkley did not play and they missed him big time. Aaron Corp struggled big time.

I took a look at the 2nd-4th quarter against WSU to see why they only scored 1 TD.

          2nd Quarter
They had one drive in the 2nd quarter. It was a ten play 58 yard drive which is a solid drive but it resulted in a missed FG.

          3rd Quarter
They started off the 3rd quarter with a nice 7play, 70 yard drive but USC decided to go for it on 4th and goal at the 2 since they were up by 20 already and figured they'd pin WSU on their own 2 if it didn't work. They turned the ball over but they didn't kick a FG because of the weak competition they were playing
The next two drives for USC were 3 and out.

          4th Quarter
USC bounced back after two straight 3 and outs with a nice TD drive to start off the 4th quarter, 27-0 at this point. After this drive USC took out their offensive starters.

Completely respect this line of thinking. I like UM +7.5 for this same reason against OU.

As bad as Cal looked last week their is no way in hell that I can bet on them this week. No play or USC for me. I like to ride teams that are on rolls, not teams that get rolled. USC hasn't looked very impressive as well but at least their not coming off a blowout loss.

Washington had 5 coaches on their staff that coached at USC. I don't look too much into that loss because that was just a terrible spot for USC playing with a backup quarterback and they didn't have possibly their best player in Taylor Mays. Taylor Mays is back this weekend and will help big time against the run.
