This is one of those games I will just be watching with no play on it whatsoever. I want to see just how good both teams are.

#72This game is much of a toss up as you think. This is a follow the trenches bet. If you believe Okie State can protect the Quarterback. Can the Okies load the box and force Georgia to beat them through the air? Is Georgia the same team as last year without a top QB and RB? There on the road.
Might be a sucker bet but would take Okie Stat.
Give me some input on the questions above.Comment -

#74Georgia has the best offensive line in the nation. They have a top 3 wide receiver in the nation. They have 3 QB's on the team that were all top 10 at their position coming out of high school, yet none of them are starting. Joe Cox is a 5th year senior and is much more accurate than Stafford, and makes better decisions. Georgia has 3 RB's that were all blue chippers, Caleb King was top 3 at his position coming out of high school.
Georgia's defense is absolutely loaded with blue chip NFL talent and I'm talking 2 and 3 deep in many positions.
Georgia will control the line on both sides of the ball, especially offense. Look for King and Samuel to have very big games and look for Green to catch a couple of TD passes, he is going to explode this year. I would not play OSU for the world here.Comment -

Green may be the best receiver in the nation.
Defensively GA is loaded, every unit is a top 20 unit nationally. DL, LB, and DB's.Comment -

#77Okie State, I love the SEC. I know you can reload so to speak. They still need to gel together and the last time I checked there is a new backfield working together. They are playing on the road against a team with a more than capable offense. Enough already

#81one thing to know about UGA's defense: they are HUNGRY. and ANGRY.
last year Richt decided not to tackle during practice to protect his players. the result of this and surrounding atmosphere was a soft defense that gave up over 40 pts to instate rival Ga Tech.
for all of you wondering about UGA's defense this year; it should be MUCH improved. mentally as well as physically. the mental part is important, because UGA lost its edge last year with lack of intensity and poor tackling fundamentals that were not a result of bad talent. physically they have 2 of the best DT's in the SEC both seniors and very experienced, as well as one of the deepest and most talented LB corps in the conference.
David Hale, Macon paper: While not every question the coaches had entering fall practice has been answered, Richt said there’s no mistaking the improvements he has seen in the preparation his team has gotten this preseason.
“By a long shot, we were able to prepare the way we normally like to in terms of the number of days we scrimmage and tackle to the ground and every single day in inside drill was live tackling,” Richt said.
The biggest difference, Richt said, has been a reduced number of injuries. While a number of players missed some action with minor hamstring injuries, there haven’t been any catastrophic injuries similar to what occurred last preseason.
The result has been an increased focus on the fundamentals, particularly tackling. Richt said in addition to the tackling during scrimmages and inside drills, the team added tackle work to perimeter drills as well, a new addition from past seasons.
“It’s a world of difference when you look at how many times we were in pads and tackled to the ground,” Richt said.
hope that helps.this team is definitely more unified and focused than last year. will the Dawgs defense be able to contain Zac Robinson? given that they are healthy, have had a full off season to prepare, and have a chip on their shoulder, i think they will contain Robinson and Ok state's offense.
elite SEC teams with plenty of time to prepare are lethal. catch them in the middle of a brutal SEC schedule and its more difficult. but these athletes are fresh, focused and most importantly mentally hungry because of the lack of respect in the rankings and the way they played last year. Coach Richt is not the man you want to bet on in opposing stadiums or facing an OOC foe. jump on that gawdy +6 BIG, also hit the MLComment -

#82Looking for a hedge here:
Co-worker is a huge Dawgs fan (her son plays on the team). She wants to wager - straight up, no points. What's my play here? Incidentally, I think it will be a tight game. I'd never take OSU and give a touchdown. But I think they have as much chance of winning as Georgia.
SO all you mathematicians, what's my play?Comment -

#85I'm just being realistic. Actually I didn't do GA's defense justice. Phil Steele has their defensive units ranked...DL 13, LB 9, DB 20. So to say they are all just top 20 really isn't cutting it.
Steele has their offensive line ranked 3rd and I don't think that gives them enough credit to tell you the truth. He has their receivers ranked 5th and that is about right, they are completely loaded there. RB's are ranked 30th and that is simply because they don't have a starter returning. In talent they are top 10 at the position.
The QB position is extremely solid. I can guarantee you there isn't another team in the nation that has 3 top 10 high school QB's (ranked by rivals) on the bench as backups.
Look for GA to run the ball a lot, get the offensive line out in the open field with a lot of screen's to RB's and WR's. And a very effective downfield passing game with one of the nations elite WR core (ranked 19 spots ahead of Okie states WR core).
GA has probably the 2 best defensive tackles on one team in Owens and Atkins. I hope Okie State is not planning on running up the middle, with the 9th ranked LB unit waiting behind them too. State is going to have to try to pass a lot, and GA will be blitzing. It will come down to can the Cowboys stop the Dawgs from piling up sacks. I don't think they can.Last edited by WileOut; 08-31-09, 02:44 PM.Comment -

#86All this Georgia talk is speculation, Ok St. is returning the same offense that won their last 7 games and averaged 46 points per game over that span.I'll go with what is set in stone,or if you are a homer you could pray a new Georgia offense will gel on the road.Don't drink the kool-aid. #89Didn't they give up 46 points a game also? LOL - The Big 12 has no defense we all know this, and it's become QB U with all the spread offenses. I'll take Georgia SU and Points. The pressure is on Okie St playing at home. Georgia wants to win no doubt, but being a dog and playing on the road is nothing new in the SEC. I expect a good game, Okie is explosive at times, just don't see State pulling this one out.Comment -

#91I love Georgia in this game. Defense wins games and UGA's defense is much better. The offensive edge goes to Okie State but not enough to match. Plus UGA plays well on the road and they are under the radar. They were consistently bashed on defense last year and they are hungry to prove something. They are actually better w/o Knoshow and Stafford who were me first guys. Take the dawgs straight up ML.Comment -

#92When I first saw the line..I though " Wow..Georgia getting 6 1/2? I love SEC against BIG 12 getting points!"
But..this pick seems to easy to take GA.
After doing some homework, I'm leaning Okie St. Like its been metioned in the thread before, Okie St. has a very powerful offense..all coming back..and they are playing at home.
GA has tons of talent. But they have a young offense..1st game of year..on the road..Can they keep up with this experience offense? Probably not.
I'm not loving Okie St. here..but I might throw 1 unit behind this high powered offense and hope for the best. O/U is 64? Wow..that seems like alot too. I might pound the under as wellComment -

#96IMO, Georgia is more talented. Ok St. has a few studs but Georgia is loaded with soon to be NFL talent. Yet the line is still in favor of Ok st. I don't bet favs but I will definitely be staying away from UGA. This one could get out of hand. OK st. can put up points in a hurry, and UGA still has a while until they'll be able to execute the way OK st. will. AJ Green is a monster. I just have to say that every time I write about Georgia. Look out for UGA vs. FLA this year.Comment -
