A win here and a USC loss to anyone (and that will happen) gives Utah the Pac 12 South title. Their remaining games are at home against UCLA, @ Arizona, and home to Colorado. Three teams with a combined record of 10-14 and three teams that have a small chance, if any, of playing in a Bowl Game.Utah's offense is certainly above average, scoring 30 or more points in 6 of their 8 games. Their defense is by far the best in the Pac 12 having given up 82 points in the entire season, 30 of those coming at a loss (their only loss) to USC.
UDub has been a major disappointment so far. They have 3 losses already this season, two of which came at home. Those two losses were by 1 point and 4 points. UDub's defense has given up 85 points in their past 3 games, two of which were losses. Their offense runs hot and cold. Washington plays one more home game after this one, that being against Washington State, a team that is liable to do anything at any time to any team. UDub's last two away games are at Oregon State and Colorado. It is hard to believe that this team may lose 4 or 5 games overall, with 3 or 4 of those games doming at home.
The line is fluctuating in Vegas between Utah -3 and -3 1/2. We grabbed -3 at the Circa. We think that Utah is the real deal and will win the Pac 12 Title and finish the regular season at 12-1. Whether that is good enough to get them into the Playoff or not is unknown at this point. This teams reminds me a lot of the best team Utah ever fielded. That team went undefeated but went to the Fiesta Bowl and crushed Pitt 35-7. The NC game in the Orange Bowl featured USC destroying Oklahoma. It was the last game that Utah's upstart Head Coach. Current Utah HC Kyle Wittingham too over the following year and is still there. By the way, the name of that successful Utah head coach who lost 1 game in two years? Some kid named Urban Meyer.
