"The bowl games are a reward for the teams." is what was pushed down people's throats and then big business stepped in and well, look how many games there are now. I can recall, the Sugar Bowl, the Rose Bowl, the Orange Bowl and the Cotton Bowl all being played the same day with conference tie-ins and as a fan of the sport, always thought New Years Day was once of the best of the year because of that - then the powers that be, began adding more bowl games (and revenue) to where the bowl season is now over a six weeks from the first game to the last one. Yes, it's nice to try to see #1 verses #2 but those games rarely live up to the expectations of people. Would I like to see a playoff? Of course but the conferences still piss and moan about getting an automatic bid plus the tv contracts that don't expire for a while , so we (as fans) are stuck with the current system.

I remember when New Years Day used to be "The Day" in College Football. The 4 Big Bowl games. Ofcourse back in those days, they were the Cotton, Rose, Sugar and Orange Bowls. Then the Fiesta Bowl took the Cotton Bowl's spot. Then one of those games went to Jan 2. Then one went to Jan 2 and one went to Jan 3. Now they play until Jan 10,with a bunch of lousy unimportant bowls in between. Now if they want to play the Rose and Fiesta Bowls on Jan 1, the Orange on Jan 2, and the Sugar on Jan 3 (all are reverseable except the Rose Bowl), I can buy that, but I can not buy playing 3 meaningless bowl games after 4 BCS Bowl games are finished. Even the Cotton Bowl (which is looking for BCS status) should either be played on the 1st, or earlier.

Who knows what will will happen when the COnferences expand. If the Big 10 and Pac 10 go to 12 teams only, then I do not expect to see much change. The Pac 10 will gain a couple of minor bowls, but that is about it. If everyone expands to 16 teams, and the Big East goes under, then who knows what may happen. Certainly 9 teams from the remaining 5 conferences would get tie-in bids. But that only adds up to 45 teams. 25 more still would have to be found. Maybe they get 10 bowl tie-ins, which still leaves 20 more teams to find.

I totally agree. Now the Rose Bowl will always be played on Jan 1, except when that date falls on a Sunday (it is then played on Jan 2) because of the Rose Parade which preceeds the game. That will never change. What I would like to see is the Rose Bowl and Fiesta Bowls played on Jan 1, the Sugar Bowl played on Jan 2, the Orange Bowl played on Jan 3, and the Championship game played on Jan 4. Allowances can be made if one of those dates falls on a Sunday and conflicts with the NFL, but that is it. I do not want to see the "Feed the Hungry" bowl the day before the BCS Championship game. What they should do is have the "Kraft Feed the Hungry Bowl" on in December, followed by the "Papa John's Pizza" Bowl and the "Little Cesars Pizza" Bowl so all the hungry can get fed.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't their use to be a bowl game on Christmas day? It was nice being able to watch a football game and a NBA game on the same day (obviously before cable and dishes were around). The problem is every bowl game thinks they are "special" and should be shown without a conflicting game on at the same time or any that over lap another. Greed has taken over.

I love bowl season. Football almost every day for 3 weeks.

Would I like to see a playoff? Sure. But it isn't going to happen anytime soon. So I might as well enjoy the system that is in place.

What I really like is to watch the gamblers who have to have money on every televised game go crazy with all of the weekday games. The Big East plays 1-2 weekday games just about every week from Mid-Septenber to November. Most of these games are on Thursday and Friday Nights. Then you have the oddball games scheduled, like Miami (OH) at Bowling Green scheduled for Wednesday, 11/10, and Middle Tennessee at Arkansas State on Tuesday, 11/2. That is on election day on top of everything else.

My friends in Vegas love this too, because there are so many gamblaholics out there that they make some good extra money on these games. What most people do not realize is that the books clean up on the sucker plays, like prop plays, teasers, and parlays. This is going to be a very tough year for a lot of people who love to gamble on football. They will be given more opportunities to lose their money than ever before. If they do not have any self control, they are doomed this season.

Nebraska to the Big 10 is a good move for them. Look for an 'East'/'West' division set up.

Colorado to the Pac 10, it's a place for them but they won't be a major player in football for a few years.

If you a Tex fan, one of the smartest things they could have done was not to jump to a different conference. As a benefit of staying in the Big 12, they get a greater share of revenue. The biggest benefit is they will be allowed to create their own TV network. After this network is created, then they will seriously think about joining another conference. Not only will they be gaining revenue sharing monies from the new conference but they will have a separate stream of income from their TV network. Something other schools wish they had.

These offenses look horrendous, we need some scoring here!

Edit: At least we've got the Cowboys O14'. I got the teaser at -200, so we at least get a push. Maybe we'll get a couple of big plays in the second half and hit both. You continue to amaze me, TA.

FG's won't get it done and hurt our over but even is better than a loss. Thank you JVP3122.

I do VP and the sad part was it missed covering by one play. Close but no cigar. I really thought CIN would have been more productive offensively. DAL defense was hard to gauge because of the previous statement but will be watching the game again this afternoon to see if it'll help solve the mystery.

I really thought CIN would have been more productive offensively. LOL - So did my lovely wife. She's a big fan of the Bengals cause she's been following Chad and TO's reality shows, she was giving me a little play by play at work last night and from what she was describing the Bengals did not generate much offense at all.
