    Two SEC East Coaching Hires
Florida has hired Miss. State Head Coach Dan Mullen. This is an excellent match for Mullen, who is an offensive guru, and Florida, who desperately needs help with their offense. Mullen has done a great job with Mississippi State. A solid hire here.

Tennessee has hired former Head Coach and current Ohio State Defensive Coordinator Greg Schiano. Schiano had a decent run as head coach fr Rutgers when they were in the old Big East Conference, and a terrible run at Tampa Bay of the NFL. He has no experience recently as a head coach, and no experience in the SEC. A strange hire considering that Tennessee was going to shatter the piggy bank and hire Jon Gruden. It looks like another 5 years of fustration for the Vols and their fans.

Mullen, eh, we'll see. Boring hire IMO.

Schiano is really interesting though. Could have written his own ticket years ago, but made a bad decision to go to the NFL, where his no-nonsense style didn't work with overpaid babies. Rutgers hasn't been relevant since I've been alive, was once he took over, and has sucked ever since. There's something to that. Then again, you could say the same about UCONN and Randy Edsall, and he never turned out to be much outside of UCONN.

wow, people in tennessee seem very upset by schiano hiring....... tennessee has been such a revolving door/dumpster fire that i think they need a hiring who can build a very solid foundation and i think schiano is perfect for that..... does tennessee really want another revolving door mercenary hire.

also, i think schiano's coaching job at rutgers was one of the greatest ever. they were really really horrible before he got there and have been really horrible (not quite as bad as before) after he left.

plus he's urban meyer's DC which counts for alot in my eyes.

He has something to prove. Vols might be pleasantly surprised, only time will tell.

Tennessee shit canned Schiano about an hour ago. The students may have burned the University down if they did not cancel the hiring. That is how pissed off the Student are about the hire. Not only do they think he is a terrible HC, many believe that he helped with the cover up at Penn State. There are also reports of his mistreatment of players at Tampa. People are begging for Lane Kiffin to come back. That is how bad this possible hire was. They had already started mattress burnings in front of Neyland Stadium. Now reports say that Tennessee will NOT hire him. In other words, they are backing down. If this guy is that bad, it makes you wonder why Ohio State hired hiim as their DC.
