Beavers -1½ at Bruins

Playing solid ball since their stunning upset of USC, look for Oregon State to continue their winning ways today when they travel to UCLA.
This game features two teams with four-game streaks going. Unfortunately for UCLA, theirs is a losing streak! As for Oregon State, they have been playing lights out football since their upset of USC.
The Bruins' struggles can be greatly attributed to the injury to quarterback Ben Olson and the ineffectiveness of his replacement Pat Cowan who has struggled in throwing six interceptions against only five touchdown passes. Overall, Cowan has completed just 53% of his passes. Those numbers are not going to win games in the Mountain West Conference let alone the Pac 10. Even if Olson is able to return to the field this afternoon, we do not expect him to be at a 100% level and that's what it would take to knock off the Beavers.
As we mentioned above, Oregon State has been on a roll since knocking off the Trojans in Corvallis last month. Senior quarterback Matt Moore has found the consistency you expect from a senior leader and the team has certainly responded around him. Moore is looking at another big day through the air as the Beavers like to throw the ball. Oregon State has averaged 250 yards through the air and the Bruins have struggled to stop the passing game as they have given up an average of 220 yards per game through the air.
Simply put, this is a case of two teams heading in opposite directions and we will cash in as a result.
