L.T. Profits: Kent St. +1½ vs Akron
Kent State has revenge on their mind Saturday when they host Akron.
This is a double revenge spot for Kent State after losing their last two head-to-head meetings with the Zips, including a 35-3 blowout last season.
The Golden Flashes are rolling right now, however, as they followed up their shocking upset of Miami-Ohio by demolishing Bowling Green in its own stadium 38-3 last week. In fact, Kent is now on a 3-0 ATS run with all three covers coming on the road. Granted, the 38 points scored last week was an anomaly as the Flashes took advantage of six Falcon turnovers.
The flip side of that though is that the defense created those turnovers, and that unit has allowed just 11.3 points per game during this 3-game ATS win streak.
While Kent is already 2-0 in MAC Conference play, Akron is 0-1 losing to Central Michigan before beating a weak North Texas team 33-13 in a non-conference affair last week. The Zips have been unable to run the ball a lick this season, averaging just 78.2 rushing yards on a poor 2.3 yards per carry. This has turned them into a one-dimensional passing team, and pass defense has been a strong suit for Kent State as it is allowing just 135.5 passing yards per game on only 5.0 yards per pass attempt.
