    Nevada vs Maryland Discussion
Early football game. Bored at home so I'll be wagering on this one. I've seen Nevada twice this year. First against Missouri and they didn't impress, and against Boise St when they didn't show up in the first half but were impressive in the 2nd half.

RECORDS VS. BOWL TEAMS: Maryland 5-3, Nevada 2-4.

NCAA SCHEDULE STRENGTH: Maryland 40th, Nevada T-55th.

KEY STATS: Nevada is second nationally in rushing offense, at 291.4 yards per game. The Wolf Pack have scored 37 rushing TDs. Maryland is 72nd in rushing defense, allowing 149.4 yards per game. But the Terps have allowed just 11 rushing touchdowns.

The only asterik with the Nevada rush defense is in two games against "Big Six" conference opponents, Nevada allowed 256 rushing yards and six TDs.

Maryland is just not good, although this game is a toss up for me. I'm leaning towards Nevada -2.5 Anyone going to change my mind?

I will agree, Maryland isn't impressive but they did play a much harder schedule and went up against stiff pass deffenses the last 8 game. Chris Turner is a stud and will have a field day passing all over Nevada's terrible deffense!

I love the over 58 tonight.

Turner has 11 TDs/10 picks? Not stud QB numbers to me but I've only seen them play once this year! Nevada should have all the intangibles today....played the Smurf Turf before...obviously bring more fans....unique offense MD hasn't seen before w/a better QB! Nevada should be able to load up the box to slow down the run and MD doesn't have a 1000 yd rusher anyway! MD still gets their points but I love Nevada (-2) here in a higher scoring game like most of Nevada's games!

Yeah, while this may be true, look what happened when they played against our FSU defense. It was very ugly for Maryland.

I just think the level of competition is not even close for both teams. MD played some really good defenses this year. We saw what a good defense FSU (#27) has, VT's D (#13) at home has always been stingy and BC (#18) has been great all year too. The only game MD was not competitive with was FSU. They shut out a good WF team and they beat a ranked NC team. The best with win for Nevada this year has been LA Tech where they were down 31-14. Nevada did put up 34 against Boise, but two of those TDs were Defenseive Tds. If MD can hold Nevada to 24 pts and not turn the ball over in the passing game, they should win the game.

It's not entirely his fault. The OL wasn't that great last year, but they kept the backs and TE in to help in protection more often. This year, the scheme is different, and the OL isn't getting as much help. Turner hasn't gotten much time to throw.

I'm counting on the Smurf Turf/travel/Nevada crowd trifecta to be too much for Maryland! Nobody can compare MDs schedule to Nevada's...not that the ACC is any juggernaut! Is there anyone in the ACC (only conf. I didn't see much of this year) like the kid from Nevada as far as run/pass threat?

This is a no play for me today. If i had to pick though my money would be on Maryland. They have a good coach, and they played alot tougher competition. Nevada keeps it close but Maryland finds a way to pull it out in the end!!

                      Russell Wilson

Ponder to a lesser extent ... but no real run first types.

Closest offense to this that they faced was the Eastern Michigan game. Emich did quite well and obviously they are easier to defend and were without Schmitt in that one.

That's my take on the game. Maryland thought they were Orange bowl bound.... and now they are playing on the BLUE TURF! They are not excited. Nevada on the other hand is happy to be playing in ANY bowl. I think Maryland comes out flat and Nevada has enough offense to win this game.

Line seems fishy to me, with Maryland being an ACC team. They were very inconsistent but if they show up to play, I see them winning this outright.

ACC teams so far in bowl games. 2-3 SU, but 5-0 ATS.

                              Hi All,

I would have to agree as stated in this forum, I don't see anyone man handling Nevada. I think without it being said, Nevada knows they better take care of business from start to finish and I think that is exactly what we will see!! Good luck all
