All UFC main events will be 5 rounds. They announced this a little while back.

Does this mean we will see less heavyweight main events? It's tough for some of these big boys to go 3 rounds let alone 5.

Usually heavyweights end within 3 rounds so scheduling them to go for more seems like a little bit of a waste.

We got to see how this all plays out. Right now I don't really like the idea. Many fights that have gone 5 rounds have ended up being boring. Unless the fight is at a low weight class it usually makes the fighters fight at a slower pace.

I'm not crazy about the idea either just because I think it takes away from what makes title fights special.

Is this just Pay Per View main events or does it include Fight Nights, UFC Live, and TUF Finals?

I think its all cards, but not sure if the TUF finale would be unless its not the actual TUF fight.

ufc 138 seems like a terrible card. british cards really DO get the shaft.

Starting soon, all UFC events will end in a five-round fight regardless of whether a title is on the line.

Sounds like there will be no exception. The solution to that would be to make the finalist be the co-main event. TUF fighters going 5 rounds would be a disaster. 5 rounds for them is 1/5th way through the 2nd round.

does anyone think the rounds should be like 3 minutes instead of 5?

five 3 minute rounds for regular fights.
seven 3 minute rounds for title fights.

i think this would increase the stoppages because
                      a) fighters have more rest between rounds. fewer fiascos where fighters get sluggish near the end.
                      b) harder to lay and pray because there are more mandatory stand ups.

also, this would shorten the time of championship fights. because as chael sonnen said, 25 min IS awfully long.

Not really, actually shaping up to be quite decent... Munoz vs Leben might not be big names but should be a good fight, Picket vs Barao is great...Pickett never has a boring fight, Njokuani vs Taylor..two of best standup guys in LW division, Thiago Alves/Papy will be a stand-up war. Paul Sass and Hathaway will be on card, looks like its gonna be better than 120 anyway

Picket vs. Barao is interesting. That's a tough fight to come up with a line for.

Escovedo gave Barao all he could handle. No doubt he was overpriced in that fight.

I'm expecting some value on Escovedo in his next fight.
