THis is the only 'good' footage I could find on Mayfield so maybe I'm misjudging him but...
... he doesnt seem very good...
He doesnt even bring his punches all the way back, he sticks his chin straight out like an amatuer, and throws very wild (albeit strong) punches.
Nothing on his resume shows me that he is ready for a guy like Steve Forbes. Forbes is OBVIOUSLY very over the hill, but at 147 he has fought guys like Berto and De La Hoya (albeit 3 years ago) to wide decision losses where he was never embarassed or badly hurt.
I could see Mayfield using his youth to kind of outwork and outmuscle forbes, but a veteran like Forbes who used to be SUCH a solid fighter, I just see Forbes taking him apart with counter shots.
The odds are so close because Mayfield helped guys like Pacquiao and Hatton spar for fights, but as we all know Sparring is an entirely different game.
Thoughts?
