Agreed with all of you. The value on offer for these is a little hard to resist...

I'm leaning Diaz - MacDonald FOTN. Firstly, it's legitimately one of my favs to win it based on matchup / styles. And a couple of other reasons (try to get in the boss' head since he hands out the checks)...

At this point, most agree Rory is a future star, and getting him a nice check to help pay for his future development is a nice investment in the UFC itself. Potential ROI for Dana... (Though if Aldo-Hominick is a good fight, he may push that money toward Aldo; it is his UFC debut after all -- first chance at one of those big checks -- though, I'm thinking a KO of the Night might come his way )

I think Dana really wants Nick Diaz to warm up to the idea of a smooth transition into the UFC. Rewarding his brother for a good fight would show Nick that the UFC does take care of its fighters who go out there and put it on the line... butter up the family to get at the prized fighter. Grease the wheels a bit.

I agree w/ you on Diaz/Mac most likely to get FOTN. However, the odds suck there. +200? Is that really worth putting down on?

Yeah, not worth it at +200. The fact it's not on the main card doesn't help its chances of getting the award.

I did a study -- from UFC 85 to 115 (from recollection), televised (PPV or Spike Prelims) fights won 80% of the FOTN awards. So, it is on Spike, so wouldn't rule it out... but yeah, +200 ain't worth it.

On a side note: I had that nice file tracking the FOTNs but lost it in a hard drive crash... it was UFC 85 to 115, or something very similar to that. Had a considerable amount of data points. Though now, with every fight being viewable to the public, not sure how that trending will hold... In the past, I'd straight up ignore undercard/non-televised fights while betting props for FOTN -- it statistically just made sense.

Curious what the percentage is for PPV vs free prelims.
